  1. I am PRAYING my plastic surgeon lets me do my tummy and arms at the same time. Not sure if he will allow it. I have a consult in August. My arms are definitely the priority, though.
  2. Are you considering any plastics? A lift? I am so psyched to have my cosmetic stuff done. I feel this way about my arms. I can't bear to see them in the mirror.
  3. With 39lbs left to go before plastics in November, I am starting to look towards my next goal. Last weekend, my coworker expressed that she was embarrassed at the gym because she didn't know how to use any of the equipment. I went in an hour before my class with her and showed her a lot of things. I timed her wall squats, showed her proper form, and every time she would say she sucked or was weak, I was the opposite of my usual self and was very motivating and encouraging. She even offered to pay me for the session! I've been thinking a lot about this and how great I felt helping someone else. I think I want to pursue a certificate in personal training in 2020 and do that part-time. It was so fulfilling! And I found myself echoing the things my trainer tells me. He's rubbed off on me!
  4. Didn't read all the comments but I think the Walden dressings are DISGUSTTTINNNNGGGG AHHHHHH. I just use lite Italian or herb ranch. The calories/carbs/etc are negligible in the grand scheme of things.
  5. Okay, few things... I was on Xanax for 15 years (6mg a day) and I was able to just stop and start - no withdrawals symptoms. Some years I was on XR, some the instant release. Do you actually experience dangerous withdrawal symptoms or do you just think you will? Or do you just have increased anxiety? I was switched to Valium because it lasts longer. I now take 30mg of valium a day (in 3 doses). I take as needed, however, so rarely 3 a day (typically one at night). They are small, like Xanax. Rather than going down in dose since surgery, I have needed an increased dose. I was only at 10mg a day, but another anxiety medication I was taking, Tenex, was causing me to blackout when standing so they had to stop me on that. I did have very severe rebound anxiety after the removal of the Tenex, which is when they increased the Valium. Pill size only mattered if they were giant horse pills. I had to crush my Potassium pill for a month. I was also on Ambien CR (the extended release). They told me to switch to instant after surgery, which doesn't help as much, but I did. HOWEVER, I have run out on occasion of the instant release and take a leftover extended release pill and it still works just as effectively. Every body is different, but the extended release may still work exactly the same for you, like the Ambien CR did for me. Can you switch to the instant release Xanax if you are concerned about it? Or switch to Valium because it is longer-acting than Xanax. I don't think there is any shame on being on a benzodiazepine the rest of your life if it helps. I intend to be on either Xanax or Valium forever BECAUSE IT WORKS. No interest in not taking it and no shame in needing it.
  6. My mother was not supportive. She was vehemently against it, actually. She said I could lose it with diet and exercise "if I really tried" and I was mutilating my body. She said that when I am older the vitamins may not be enough and I could have nutritional deficiencies, etc. And, of course, all the possible complications. She reminded me in the weeks pre-op how stupid I was for doing this to myself. And even now, 7 months later, the most she can say is "I'm happy you're happy but I don't support this." Screw it. You're not doing it for her. Who cares what she has to think. As long as she will watch your kids, that's all you need to worry about.
  7. My hair loss started 3 weeks out from surgery and now I am almost 7 months and it has not stopped or slowed down at all. I have extremely thin hair now.
  8. yoooooo if I ever hear this song again... UP. BACK. DOWN. ADD A GEAR! UP. BACK. DOWN. UP. BACK. DOWN. ADD A GEAR! UP. KILL. ME. NOW. BACK. NOW STAY BACK! ADD A GEAR! lmao.
  9. Thank you! I had plenty of "food funerals" during my 16-day pre-op diet. While controversial, I don't regret it. Because I made a promise to myself to not have those foods ever again, and thus far I haven't. And, honestly, I don't miss them at all. Fortunately after surgery you physically CAN'T binge eat, which is the ultimate training tool. Not being hungry those first few months really helps. I think overtime people can fit more and more in if they really try, but I know 7 months out I couldn't. I would get so so so sick! And I don't want to sabotage myself.
  10. Second spinning class today! I got my cycling shoes, my BUTT PADS (which totally look like a diaper), suede gloves, and some weird towel that cools 20 degrees below room temp when wet. I AM READY. lol
  11. Why not try the chocolate soy isolate? SO GOOOOOD. https://www.amazon.com/Sports-Protein-Isolate-Chocolate-2-Pound/dp/B001DNV53E/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=chocolate+soy+isolate&qid=1558541209&s=gateway&sr=8-3 25g per serving. Tastes like pudding. Mostly. lol
  12. Whey makes me vomit. Try soy shakes. They have delicious chocolate and vanilla ones on Amazon.
  13. I was told the same thing. Developed a marginal ulcer a week out from surgery, then my gallbladder went 4 weeks later and they found a hernia while they were in there. Took 4 months to heal up. But now that it's over with, I am happy. But I was REALLY remorseful in the beginning because I am young and was told everything would go great because I was healthy.
  14. Yes! It's great! I will be perusing the store today and adding things! THANK YOU!! (I've already shared the news with some fellow shoppers who had wanted the same function added and they are thrilled, too!)
  15. I wasn't hungry at first but it came back with avengeance at 4 months or so. I get hungry often but it doesn't take much to satisfy it.
  16. these popped up in my fb memories today. i used to binge eat/overeat. i had decided to use MFP to help me curb how much i ate, but instead i used it as a competition tool to see how much i could fit in me. i was probably around 175 or so in 2012. the comments are mostly me joking about how my ads are all for diet pills now and my friends joking I'll be one of the feeder fetish chicks eventually. the last photo is from 2018 when i was 286lbs and considering bariatric surgery. spoiler alert: it wasn't my thyroid that caused my weight gain. why the eff did i do this to myself!? jesus.
  17. I bought some shorts for the gym today. I haven't worn shorts since I was 8 years old. I have had body image issues since I was that young, even though I wasn't overweight til I was 21. I have a LOT of hanging skin now around my knees and inner thighs from the weight loss. I am kinda embarassed to wear them. =/ I want to overcome my embarrassment and just do it. It's gunna be really hard! I was lifting weights the other day and was in front of a mirror and noticed my arms (which I plan on chopping in November) and now I am avoiding mirrors at the gym. Learning not to give a f**k is the hardest part of all this, for sure. For me anyways.
  18. I was off 2.5 weeks but then developed an ulcer and needed some time off for the endoscopy. And then I almost immediately had my gallbladder go, and needed another 2 weeks off from that. O__O Fill out an FMLA form just in case.
  19. I will just bluntly say that I would not have major surgery that reroutes major organs and permanently affects the way you eat if I had "only" 40lbs to lose and was losing on my own. I "only" have 44lbs left to lose and I realize it seems like a lot, but in the grand scheme of things... it isn't... not if you're on a path to losing it already. I would consider this surgery only for individuals who are severely morbidly obese and have not had any success at making permanent lifestyle changes without the drastic kick in the ass that is this procedure. I would sincerely evaluate whether you feel you can make these lifestyle changes without surgery. If you truly feel you can't, then have the surgery.
  20. I think that's normal. I am 6+ months post-op and I can't tolerate most fish and oftentimes chicken. I primarily eat turkey or beef now.
  21. You shouldn't have any acid pain after bypass. Your symptoms youre describing sound just like when I had an ulcer. It hurt even when I drank water. Like a fire that stabbed me, lol. Be forceful and demand an endoscopy. My pain developed a week or so out from surgery.
  22. Lol, I have this as a tanktop I wear all the time.
  23. I set my goal weight because I was 140 in 2010 and I feel like I looked healthy then.
  24. A total lower body lift does butt, tummy, legs, and hips all at the same time. I'm shooting for that in 2020. Consult in August...
  25. I have Highmark BCBS. They pay for a tummy tuck if you have in your notes you are getting rashes from loose skin. I don't need the muscle tightening. I have an appointment tomorrow to sign my initial docs for the equity loan and the appraiser will be out in 2 weeks or so. I called my plastic surgeon and I'm going to schedule a consult for the end of August for a brachioplasty for November, and a complete lower body lift next Spring. I don't think I'm even going to bother with insurance.
