Update on my stricture and second endoscopy
I am so sorry to hear this. I suppose for the next four months they are trying to heal up the ulcers prior to redoing the surgery? Can they remove the ulcerated sections sooner? I don't understand the repeat endoscopies don't work thing.... I know a number of people on here have had strictures that required several endoscopies to continue stretching it out. My coworker's brother has had two already.

CPAP & Aerophagia - Why was I never warned of this!
Have you had a sleep study done recently to see if you still need the CPAP? Or, rather, do you plan on having one again as you lose weight to see if you can ditch the machine?

i hate cardio.
Have you tried jogging in water? They also have water aerobics classes with resistance floaties (if you're fortunate enough to have a gym with a pool, unlike me).

i hate cardio.
I don't intend to ever stop exercising? Even the stuff I hate now. I LOVE weight training and resistance training. And yoga - which counts as cardio as far as my trainer is concerned. I am trying BANG Power Dance next week.

HELOC for Plastics
Update: Oh yeah. CareCredit interest is 26% after deferment or 14% if you don't take a deferment. YIKES ON BIKES.

HELOC for Plastics
I am so excited! I have an appointment Monday with my bank to take out a home equity loan for my future plastics. Interest rates are around 5% now which is so much lower than the medical loans I've seen. How did you finance your plastics? I think my equity is only going to be about 20k, so I may have to supplement with other sources of funding. I have CareCredit up to 13K (I believe), but once the deferment period is over, the interest rate is crazy high. Going to see what my house appraises at and take out the equity loan and sit on it until November when I start the cosmetic journey.

Pounds lost
I am 6.5 months out and have lost 100 lbs. I have 46 more pounds to go, which I hope to reach by December 1 of this year at the latest. I am really focused on having my brachioplasty end of November or December, so I sincerely hope I can do this.

Anyone switch their addiction?
I went through an impulsive shopping spree a bit at the beginning. I do obsess over my weight - I weigh daily. If it goes up a pound, like yesterday, I freak the hell out. It could be worse. I haven't picked up any bad habits or addictions, though. I have drank twice, but don't feel any desire to drink more than I did before, which was a handful of times a year (it doesn't seem to affect me any more like they said it would). I exercise regularly but not obsessively. Although I sort of wish I would, lol. At least for a few months. I am addicted to cottage cheese. LOL. I HAVE to have that sh*t on the daily. Weird, permanent craving.

Dr. Now.
I've had it a few times before... it's just every time I've gone I eat too much. Probably because it's a buffet and I want a small sample of everything. I wish I had thrown up. lol. 4 hours later at the gym I was doing tire flips and jumping jacks and like blarrrrrffff.

Exogenous Ketones
I take a whole bunch of rando supplements touted to do this or that. I have no clue if any of them have factored into my weight loss. My trainer is big on those sorts of things. Not "diet pills", but things like CLA, arginine, inosine, etc. I read some article about the exogenous ketones because they were featured on Shark Tank and they were cheap so I was like whatever sure. lol. I am around 50g of carbs a day and 800 calories. I'm sure I am losing by virtue of that alone, but I guess any placebo mental boost can help, right? lol. Will keep you all posted... they arrive today. If I notice any crazy drastic drop or anything, that'll be my indicator.

Calling all Equestrians
I stopped riding when I hit 220 because I felt bad for the horses. LOL. But I did ride for years and years, and I am excited to start again. I would wait until at least 8 weeks out to let your core muscles heal from the incisions. It's not so much the surgical procedures itself, but the incision sites will be sore and you want those muscles to heal back well and also not develop a hernia. I think I was cleared for core exercises around 6 weeks... but I'd wait to 8 to be safe, given how much a workout riding is on those muscles. If you are anxious to get back on sooner, ride Western so you're not posting.

Can anyone help me?
Insurance may not qualify you based on BMI? I am 5'3 and don't think I would have done this at 200lbs UNLESS I had serious medical conditions associated with the weight. Many bariatric offices offer medical weight management programs (special shakes and usually Phentermine) as alternatives to surgery. Schedule a consult!

I ate a wee too much at the Chinese buffet yesterday and felt awful. Then got super nauseous while with the trainer. Printing this out for my desk at work as a reminder....

Smoking and ulcers
I can quit whenever I want cold turkey. Like, I will buy a pack, smoke it, not buy a pack for 4 or 5 months. Decide to buy another pack. That kind of thing. I'll go for a year without smoking or more. Then start again. I dunno. It's just a casual thing I occasionally enjoy, especially on long drives. I don't smoke when I am home... only in my car or out socially (which is rare).

Smoking and ulcers
Can someone explain why a bypass patient is more likely to develop an ulcer than a "regular" person if they smoke? I can't figure out the connection. Is it because there's no protective stomach acid anymore? I can only find the "don't smoke" mantras... but all doctors say that. Why is the predisposition higher? Yes, I will admit I've smoked about 4 packs or so since surgery. I know I'm not supposed to. And at my 6 month I told the doctor's office and they're like "you may get another ulcer" and I was feeling bitchy that day and was like "that's fine because I have leftover Carafate from my last one". I'm a stubborn ****** but I will complain when it bites me in the ass.... at least I'm honest. lol. I'm trying to quit again.

Exogenous Ketones
I am in ketosis by virtue of my bariatric diet (and confirmed via labwork). I ordered some exogenous ketone supplements. Are they going to "boost" the fat-burning or are they just bull? They were only 12 bucks so *shrug*

❤ MAY 2019 CHALLENGE❤
A Side: No meditation today because it's trainer day at the gym and that is the total opposite of meditating! lol! But yoga on Saturday! B Side: I was told to avoid caffeine until I was able to get in at least 72oz of non-caffeinated fluid, and then I could have a cup or so a day. Just ensure I was hydrated well before I added in caffeine. I drink a few cups of hot tea during the work week now (6 months out). As long as I stay hydrated, I don't think it's a huge concern if I go a cup or two over. I don't drink caffeine on the weekends... but I need some tea to get me through the workday some days.

Breastfeeding right after surgery?

Breastfeeding right after surgery?
My concern would be a) the drastic hormonal changes that will occur after surgery may affect milk production and the large doses of vitamins you will be taking may not be good to pass onto your baby through breastmilk. I would ask your surgeon if those vitamin levels are safe. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

permanent skin discoloration from shots
Soooo I just noticed that I have a large brown patch of discoloration from where I was receiving blood thinner injections in the hospital after surgery.... six months ago. Are permanent changes in pigmentation normal? The bruise was MASSIVE and dark purple for weeks.
