  1. I don't know... no matter how small of a bites I take or how much I chew it, I start sweating and shaking and get really nauseous. But if it's all goo'd up with some kind of sauce I can tolerate, I am fine. Bizzaro.
  2. Why did your surgeon opt for sleeve instead of bypass if you have such bad reflux issues?
  3. I can eat chicken jerky, just not chicken breast. UNLESS it is smothereddd in low-sugar ketchup. Same with turkey patties. Must be smothered in ketchup. I reached out to the company to see what they think.
  4. I am tentatively planning a trip to do a 5 day hike across Peru next Summer. The trip includes all meals, which is all local cuisine with local families or in small villages. I am concerned because I know I will need a good amount of protein and calories to do this hike (it's pretty intense), BUT, most foods make me very ill. I can't eat anything with flour, I am highly sensitive to anything with much sugar, I can't eat any fish, ground beef, most chicken. I can't eat MOST dairy (with the odd exception of cottage cheese and yogurt?? - cream-based anything makes me sick). I can't eat any fruit except berries without feeling sick. And all starchy veggies make me sick. I don't think I can carry 9 days (the hike is 5 days, the whole trip is 9) worth of my own food on my back with me (or through all the airports). Does anyone know what I can do??? I really want to be able to travel and do this! I think like "regular" trips I could probably get accommodation to have a basic salad or something, but this is a bit different since we will be in like.... the jungle and mountains. Do I just eat turkey jerky for 9 days?? lol.
  5. You can do it! I would recommend following the "actual" pouch reset diet. I'm doing a modified one. https://www.livestrong.com/article/430673-how-to-complete-five-day-bariatric-diet/
  6. The doctor's scale is probably more accurate... the one at my doctor's office costs thousands of dollars because it runs all kinds of metrics. Mine claims to, but it was $29.99 off Amazon sooooo. But anyways I go with whichever is lower. LOL.
  7. 124lbs 8.5 months out.
  8. Pretty much! I am hitting 98-105g of protein eating this. Not bothering tracking carbs because I know there's virtually none in all of those things.
  9. =p I have a soy protein isolate shake for breakfast, a light and fit greek yogurt for a snack (if I need one), a hard boiled egg for lunch, a soy protein isolate shake for afternoon snack, and cottage cheese/hardboiled egg for dinner. I randomly munch on cherry tomatoes/blueberries too occasionally.
  10. Awesomely. I lost a little over 5lbs last week and felt amazing. I am essentially sticking to my modified diet indefinitely. I am actually getting MORE protein now than I did before because I brought back the dreaded protein shakes (which actually taste fine, lol). I still enjoy a "regular" bariatric diet on the weekends, but for the most part I am sticking to this new thing I have going on during the work week. I definitely feel full so much quicker - even cottage cheese is difficult to eat at a full 8oz like I was before.
  11. I had my gallbladder out in January. No exercise for two weeks, and then just avoid any core work for another 2-3 weeks. PS I feel your pain. I go to the gym 6 days a week and I'm having plastics in November and won't be able to go for a monthhhh. NOOOOOOOOO
  12. I had three complications - a marginal ulcer formed one week out and I was on medicine for 12 weeks to heal it. Then my gallbladder went to hell 2 months out and they also found a hernia while they were in there. It happens. It's generally not a big deal and all 3 of the issues were resolved with time. Nothing that couldn't be fixed. Just be aware of how you feel and speak up if anything feels off. Definitely wouldn't change my mind had I known I would have gotten those complications.
  13. May I ask what about the bypass can cause the obstructions/necrosis? Why is it a higher risk than the gen pop? I am so happy they caught it in time and you had a successful surgery! Best of luck in your continued recovery!
  14. I didn't have the "3 week stall" that people talk about. I stalled at the beginning of month 3 and it lasted for 8 weeks. Didn't lose a single pound. I honestly didn't do anything different to get it started again, it just started dropping again by itself. Very bizarre and frustrating. lol.
  15. too real. ;(
  16. CHEDDIES! I get them off this website. NowSports Vanilla Soy Protein off Amazon Nonfat Great Value cottage cheese Great Value turkey meatballs with salsa Butterball turkey patties (just throw them still frozen on the stove, 7 min each side) w/ cheese and hot sauce and light and fit greek yogurt
  17. Martinsburg, West Virginia (about an hour outside DC)
  18. I, personally, am not dating anyone until I reach my goal and after plastic surgery. I want to focus 100% on myself and this process takes a lot of dedication and time (for me, anyways) and I don't feel like I have the ability to focus or care about anyone other than myself right now in the way that I should if I were in a relationship. As far as just friendships, how you look shouldn't play any role in your friendships.
  19. Day 5 of the pouch reset and it is going fantastically. I have lost 5lbs this week, and wasn't afforded a lunch yesterday due to a crazy long 5 hour work meeting so I tried eating some jerky and got full after 2/3rds of the stick. Definitely did what it's supposed to. Worked out for 2.5 hours yesterday with the trainer, no issues. Feeling great.
  20. for the first time in 10 years, i finally breeze by the plus section without even glancing at it. it was so weird in the beginning once i got to "normal" sizes. i felt so unsure that i would fit into "regular" sizes. i started at a size 24 last November and now i am a .... wait for..... SIZE 8. that's 8 sizes down in 8 months and i am still not even at goal weight! when i was 140lbs before, i was a size 12. muscle certainly weighs more than fat! i can't remember the last time i was a size 8!! also... so.many.more.clothing.options. HALLELUJAH.
  21. I'm sorry you are going through that. I woke up with the most horrific pain I had ever felt in my life. I was sobbing and they kept pumping fentanyl in me to no avail. Then after 2 hours it randomly disappeared. I also had zero gas pain, which is unusual I think. But then I developed an ulcer a week out and that pain was almost equally as bad and lasted like 8 weeks. People don't talk about those things usually. But it gets better, you live.
  22. Unfortunately some people revert to those things as a new coping mechanism and drink a bit too fast, forgetting they may feel it more. I've drank 3 times since surgery and haven't felt any urge to abuse it or any desire that I *need* a drink or anything like that. My coworker's friend had the surgery and became a heroin addict! She is about 90lbs now and although she is in her 30s she looks like she's in her late 50s, and is in and out of rehab. Definitely a shocking story. I stupidly started smoking again a few months out from surgery because I NEVER had a problem quitting before or picking up a pack and then not buying another for months... but this time was HARD. I haven't smoked for 3 weeks now but I actually felt like I had become addicted to the nicotine which is something I have never experienced before.
  23. I wouldn't recommend continuing to try things to see what your body rejects. Just assume, even if it isn't true, that your body will reject all of those things to keep them out of your mouth. Also you can take Colace 2-3 times per day and Milk of Magnesia for the constipation. I always drop like 3lbs after my weekly Milk of Mag. LOL.
