  1. Sorry, I posted my exercises in a paragraph above. It's changed a bit since my trainer left so I am on my own... Monday - Spin class Tuesday - 30 minute weights (Jillian Michaels DVD) Wednesday - Either a yoga class or a spin class Thursday - Rest or yoga or 30 minutes of weights - just depending on how I feel Friday - Rest Saturday - Spin class and yoga class Sunday - Spin class That's all.
  2. You don't need to eat fat to go into ketosis, which is all the real goal is of the "keto diet". The fat globs people are eating now are just to help people feel fuller... but absolutely unnecessary. You can do low carb, low fat and enter ketosis all the same and not feel icky.
  3. When I had an ulcer it hurt the entireee time I ate. It did not go away. Every sip/swallow felt like FIRE. I feel like if it was an ulcer, it wouldn't just hurt for the first bite or two. Mine definitely hurt the entire time I ate or drank anything... the entire time.... to the point I stopped eating and drinking entirely. When my gallbladder went to hell it hurt briefly and I vomited a lot. Maybe have an ultrasound of your gallbladder. But even my ultrasound didn't look so terrible... he went in and took it anyways and when he was in there he said it was disgusting and inflamed and terrible, lol.
  4. A one pound fluctuation doesn't mean anything. It could be water weight. It could be hormonal. It could be nothing at all. Sometimes my weight fluctuates anywhere from a pound to three pounds. You're not going backwards... you'll be okay. But do lay off the juice - unnecessary sugars and carbs. Get some sugar free Koolaid.
  5. I don't know what she means when "I haven't found a balance". SHE feels like I have transferred from one addiction to another. Since I don't feel that way, I already feel like I have balance in my life and have no answer to give. She doesn't accept that so... there's nothing I can say.
  6. No one has said "oh you're too skinny" or anything yet... but my mother in particular is like "what are you going to do when you DO reach your goal weight and you still haven't found 'balance'". She sees it as me going from a food addiction to an exercise addiction. I don't know if she is concerned I will lose TOO much weight or go overboard and get sickly or what. But she does feel like I spend too much time being active now which I find really absurd. I'm sure it is a shock to see someone go from being a sedentary lump to being active... but I definitely don't think I am TOO active. A coworker keeps warning me about "her friend" who became anorexic post-op and weighed like 85lbs and had to be hospitalized. At first everyone was super supportive... but now as I get close to the "finish line", people are warning me of all these things that "they've seen happen".
  7. It is super frustrating to me because it's a great way to relieve stress from the work day, or just stress in general. I FEEL better physically and emotionally due to exercise. I have goals I am working towards (I am taking a course to become a certified personal trainer currently). I take a spin class twice a week, yoga a few times a week, and my trainer is on leave for a few months, so I am doing weights at home twice a week. I still go out and do other things; I just prefer being in the gym or outside doing something active. I feel like if these people who are close to me are supposedly so insightful, where was that insightfulness the last 9 years when I was killing myself with garbage food? I dunno. I meet my nutrient goals, aside from carbs but I am working on it... that's just a mental hurdle I need to overcome personally. I wish they would feel happy that I've finally found something I enjoy that isn't just sitting on my sofa, binge watching TV, and eating nonstop... which was seriously my entire life throughout my 20s.
  8. Like, what is so wrong with using exercise and fitness as a coping mechanism for stress and self-esteem of you aren't doing it to the point of injuring yourself or making yourself sick? It's a new hobby... get over it.
  9. A few people lately have told me I am exercising too much. Going to the gym and taking classes is something I love doing now. I don't go multiple times a day. I feel healthy and fit. But several people really close to me have expressed "concern" that I've transferred my food addiction to an addiction to exercise and I am overdoing it and using it as a new coping mechanism. These people never said a word to me when I was literally eating myself to death. I don't know how to feel. I don't feel like I am overdoing the exercise - I give myself time to rest and work different muscle groups each time or alternate with cardio. I am kinda angry that now these people are giving me a hard time about something I feel is actually bettering me physically and emotionally, when they sat idly and watched me eat bags and bags of fast food and gain 150lbs in the last 9 years and never expressed any concern over that. Today I hit 130lbs down in less than 9 months and I'm well on my way to my personal goal weight well before my one year anniversary. I am finally proud of myself and confident and angry that these people aren't happy for me and are now telling me I am taking things to the extreme. I was about to apologize for the rant, but realized I'm in the right forum. LOL.
  10. I consider this my biggest success. Not the weight loss. But the fact that I am now pursuing my personal trainer certifications with a specialty in obesity. I want to specifically work with bariatric patients who may struggle to exercise, and may rely on the surgery to just help with diet when it should be a comprehensive lifestyle change. I am so excited that I may someday make a difference to even just one person. One person that I was just not even a year ago. This surgery has changed not only my weight, but my mentality and my life. I want to pay it forward.
  11. I read somewhere recently that some insurance companies are accepting diabetes patients for WLS regarding of their weight. It's being used simply as a treatment for diabetes if medications fail. I don't like the BMI criteria.... a niece of my coworker PURPOSELY gained 20lbs so she could have the surgery. There definitely should be some medical reason, though, if you're not obese to have the surgery.
  12. I saw him yesterday and yes I WEPPPTTT in the gym. He gave me a 45 minute talk about how there is no way I will fail at this without him and how I know exactly what to do and that I have too much determination to fail, etc etc. I still wepppptttt. And then I cried AGAIN after our session. LOL. I feel like a crazy person. And I also found out that he will actually be back in four months. LOL. So he isn't gone FOREVER. But I will still miss him so much. He is my rock. I could actually cry even while typing this, I am so emotional over it. It is like a breakup except I actually care about the person and they're not an a*****e ex boyfriend. I know I am being a bit overdramatic in light of the fact he is allegedly coming back probably around December, but still man. Thursday is our last day and I am going to be even more of a wreck.
  13. losing my boobs has been awesome, imo. lmao. i had a breast reduction from an H to a D in 2017. i WANTED a B cup, but they don't let you choose (which is bogus... you can choose how large you get them but not how small??). well now i am just about a B cup with the weight loss so TA DAAA! amazing.
  14. I just noticed that you and had have almost identical starting stats and I will meet the 150 weight at probably the exact timeframe that you met 150. *bariatric twilight zone*
  15. I was told I should be at 1000-1200 calories at a year out. I am averaging 600 calories (no more than 700) now at 9 months out.
  16. I can only have berries in small quantities. I was told no banana or apple ever because they are so high in sugar. I just stick to 4 strawberries at a time or a few blueberries. I can also tolerate one kiwi. I had a few bites of watermelon once. I was also told no citrus fruits ever again. Not even going to try anything else ever.
  17. My trainer has been my rock the last several months. He is more than my trainer, he is my therapist. He is the best damn therapist I have ever had in my life. He is the ONLY support system I have "in real life" and I talk to him about EVERYTHING. He is so knowledgeable and motivating and inspiring and he means more to me than nearly anything. Not trying to be dramatic - it's just true, lol. Anyways, he told me today he accepted a job in the evenings and can no longer train me. There is no other time whatsoever that mutually works for both of us given our work schedules. I AM CRUSHED. I don't WANT another trainer. Yes, I will be saving A LOT of money, but I am scared to go at this alone. I am having my plastics in November and was looking forward to him helping me pick up where I left off after I am cleared for the gym again. I am going to miss him SO MUCH. I hired a trainer in the first place because I knew I had to pay someone to get my ass to go. It just happens I got the most awesome human being on the face of this planet. Now I love the gym and classes and I have to learn to be my own motivator and get excited for myself when I succeed... something I've never been so good at. I am super crushed. ;( I've gone through the 5 stages of grief in the last four hours and legit sobbed in the bathroom at work and I am probably going to burst into tears when I see him later tonight since this is our last week together. I have worked out a whole new gym schedule to keep me on track, and now I will have money to take more yoga which I love. I am trying to look at the positives and take away all he's taught me. But I am so so sad about this.
  18. My goal weight is the weight I knew I looked good at. It just happens to be at the very top of the normal BMI range (and depending on WHICH chart you happen to look at, 140 is actually a bit over into overweight on some). That is the last weight I recall ever once feeling OK with how I looked, if even for a brief moment in my long history of low self esteem. Not even looking at the BMI chart. If I go lower than 140, fine, whatever. If you want to go by any kind of chart, I would find out what a healthy fat percentage is, rather than a healthy BMI. That matters way more than the stupid BMI charts, imo. I would say anywhere from 25%-30% body fat seems to be considered average. The first surgeon I saw said I *would* get to 125. I KNOW I would look sickly at 125. Like, for real. lol. Any smaller than 135 and I look like a bobblehead. The surgeon I went with expected me to get to 160, and 140 with exercise. I am sticking with that since that's where I *want* to be anyways.
  19. Oh yeah, just noticed that. lol, sorry. I had essentially no pain. I think it's like a rare phenomenon for anyone to have pain unless something went wrong. I mean we are all different, I suppose, but I feel confident in saying that the majority of people on here didn't experience much pain at all. It was like... they didn't even do anything to me.
  20. I don't know what surgery you're having but I think pretty much everyone on here will testify that the only post-op pain they had was gas pain, which isn't helped with pain meds anyways. I didn't have any pain at all. The only time I got pain meds was RIGHT after surgery in the recovery room and they gave me a bit of fentanyl, but the rest of the time in the hospital I just got IV Tylenol and maybe like 3 5mg Percocet that first day in the hospital. That's it.
  21. I have a friend on Facebook who is morbidly obese and her two children are very, very heavy. I always feel very sad when I see their photos, although they seem like happy kids. She is always yo-yo keto dieting. I was never heavy as a child and fed healthy meals, so it was my own stupid adult-self that made me obese. I live in the first or second highest-rate State for obesity amongst adults and children and EVERYBODY is extremely heavy. There is so much focus on the opioid epidemic in this State, but absolutely NO focus on the much larger issue of the obesity epidemic. It is heart-wrenching.
  22. My dietitian said they won't give any macro advice until 12 months out, and just be concerned with meeting protein goals. BUT, I did weasel out information from her because I told her my trainer wanted that information. This was at about 5 months out. She said since I was working out seriously hardcore, I should be getting 1000 calories a day, 90g of protein, and 100g of carbs. That is usually the standard at 12 months, she said, but because of my workouts I should get that now. BUT, in reality, at 8.5 months out I eat 600-700 calories, 100g of protein, and well under 50g of carbs per day and I am doing just fine. NO WAY could I shove in 1000 calories a day.
  23. unf. Yeah, I think this will be the same scenario. We have 11 hour hikes some days so I hope it is enough.
  24. We are only allowed to bring camelbacks with our drinking supply of water in it - there's weight limits for our packs. No showers or water or anything; we are told to bring wet wipes to bathe ourselves for 5 days. I'm going to bring some powder. Just not sure if it'll be enough to sustain me. I think I'm just going to go for it and if I am hungry, I am hungry. LOL. It's not like I eat *that* much anyways. I don't think I can bring meal packets because there's no microwave?
  25. But I can eat steak just fine? I have no idea anymore. I just roll with it at this point, lol.
