Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Kathy could be cellulite or it could be lymph nodes you are feeling. Now that you have skinny arms, you my be feeling stuff that has een there all along and just didn't notice. I am still running gang. workout are great too. True confession time: I ate 4 little mini chocolate covered pretzels. First chocolate in months! You know what, it wasn't the heaven I thought it would be. It was good; but it wasn't what I made it out to be. However, ice cream is NEVER allowed in the house - it is my complete weakness. Sorry about the ankle G-girl. Baby steps on the healing process. Renewedhope - I love your competetive nature.

Holy Moses!!! I turn my back for one minute and you guy are out running 100 miles Nike+ "ing" things, lossing weight, and acting all MOTIVATED!!!! You know I am a social butterfly and can not be left out of the crowd. I do not understand the NIKE + thingy, but I want to play too!!! Tell me what I need to do. I am losing weight consistently, working out with my trainer 3 time a week and running too. My eatting habits are on track. I really feel good about my efforts. Kathy - I did feel your positive thoughts!!!!! 3rd round interview went great. Next stop - meet with the surgeons next week. The final decision will be by Feb 1!!! It has been a long interviewing process - I am proud to have gotten this far (down to two of us now). I feel confident, but I am sure my competition is confident as well. I truely believe it is in God's hands - whatever happens - I will be fine. Let me know how to get hooked up; I love gadgets and you know I love the competition. Better get to sleep - 0430 rolls around pretty fast!! I told my trainer to really pour it on me!! Why do I do that to myself? Keep on truckin' (product of the '70s)

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
I had the most embarassing monet with my trainer the other day. Mind you I have only worked out with this guy a couple of times. He is a very handsome, fit, 6'2" well built African American man. I am a 50 year old 5'2" white women. He had me lay on my back and hold his ankles. He held his hands out straight and I am suppose to lift my butt off the ground and hit his hands with my feet. Except the frist time I did it my feet went right to his crotch and I actually levitated him. I could have died!!! Well it was a nice ice breaker to say the least!!! So this morning he says, :Let's do butt lifts" I said "ok, it's your funeral" He said he would move his hands out away from his body!!! Anyway, one thing he has me do that I haven't done before and it is a very intense calorie burner and I thought you might lie to try. when you run, try to kick yourself in the butt then bring your knees up in the front as high as you can. YIKES, I can do it too long, but it really works the hamstrings and behind and legs.

I end up doing a walk/run for abou 4 miles actually only ran 2 miles but I burned over 500 calories. I moved my Wii upstairs today. I think I will use it more if it is more in my face. I used my Jillian Micheal Wii and my Wii fit today. It was fun. I think i hit the treadmill for a little run this afternoon. I feel so much better now that I am back on track.. By is it had to get back in the routine. I will check back in later.

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Merry Christmas Friends. I had the absolute best day at the gym yesterday. I ran 1.5 miles on the treadmill to warm up (4 months ago: I would never have thought of 1.5 miles as a warm up) Then I had my first boxing lesson -loved It, Great core workout. It was fun and recommend it - size doesn't matter. Then I put in 45 minutes with my Persoanl trainer. I told him "I am in the zone today- give all you got." He did! I burned 650 calories!!! I felt spent! I was proud and excited to do it again. If yo are just starting this program or considering - do it. If you read through the original posts yo will see we were all in he same boat. But we did it and we are all amazed that our little cubby cabooses could move! But we did it. I love you guys - See ya in the New year. Lynn

July Butterflies Master Thread
Just checking in with my July partners. Everyone's weightless tickers reveals lots of hard work. I am so excited for everyone. I am doing well. I am working out with a personal trainer 3 times a week (0530 AM) My eating is on track and I have an appointment Dec 23 for my 5th fill. I think this could be the perfect one. The last one felt perfect for 5 weeks and now is just a little less than were I want it. All in all - life with my band is excellent. I am not a particularly patience person - but this journey is helping me learn patiencereally is a virtue and good thing come to those that wait. Merry Christmas to all - and to all a tight band!!

I have so much to tell you all. 1. Male personal train (Young, hot firm body!) Very motivating for an "mature" women at 0500 in the AM. He did a great job- He also said I had great " form" Although I know he was talking about my posture _ I pretended he meant my body!!HEHEHE I am totally back into the swing of the exercising. No more excuses. My job interview - I am getting a lot of great feedback and leading comments from the COO's and lea administrators. Things like "good things come to those who wait." Smile smile and more. I feel pretty good about it. Kathy don't get off those prayer knees yet!! OK speaking about be selfless. My granddaughter turned 10 Dec 12. We are big gift givers. however this year my graddaughter told everyone she did not want presents for her birthday shejust wanted dog food and cat food to donate to the humane society. We talked about it and thought it was a great idea. We did not get her any gift except animal food. She was thrilled!! I was so touched by her sensativity= I sent an email to our local paper. Yesterday they ran a front page article with picture About Skyler and her dog food. This year will be less focused on gifts and more on Christ and family. Maybe this is the silver lining to these economic struggles. Peace to all...

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Treadmill is ok, but a little boring. I am starting with my new personal trainer at 0530 tomorrow morning. I had to change gyms. This one is about 10 minutes closer to my house. I n the morning every minute counts. I had a female personal trainer last year. She was great- but I think toward the end I was able to get away with things. This new trainer is a guy. I am a little intimadated- which is good for me. Otherwise I will try to manipulate my way out of the hard stuff. (Hey at least I recognize it - not proud of it) I have told him I need him to really push me. (Why did I do that) I am back to 164lbs. and seem to be back on track. Wow it is hard to get back at it when there is a break I feels so much better when I am balanced. I look forward to spring weather runs.

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
HELLO everyone, I got my treadmill kill switch today. Tomorrow is the big day back on the machine to melt this butt down alittle. How did I let myself get out of the habit of exercising? I am so bummed about it. I was down to 164 and now I have gained 3 pounds. Can you say: Ice cream!!!!!! I throw a 1/2 gallon out! It was just too tempting. (It was brought to my house for my granddaughter's birthday!! They left 2- 1/2 gallons! I ate way to much of the first one. I just haven't had good eating habits and no exercise. I agree with everyone that outside running is a lot faster and more fun; but... it is darn cold and pretty icy in Ohio. Kathy keep the prayers going; I am still in the lead for that job I told you about. I won't find out for sure until mid Jan.!! I will check in with everyone and let you know how the run went. I need to check in here to stay accountable. Nice job Renewedhope - 5 K in 35 min. My goal!! Night night.

N E 1 been Banded at Mt. Carmel col, oh
Swood, do it and don't look back. I am always amazed at all the "Friendly experts" out there. It will be the great decision of your life and I don't care if it is one day before Christmmas; it will be the greatest gift of your life. Tell everyone thanks for their concern; but this is what you choose. I went back to work 3 days after surgery. No problems. Just a little tender around the port site. But ohhhh so happy!

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Ok, I dusted off my running shoes, put on the sports bra, and headed down stairs to RUN. Excited and motivated. I got downstair hpped on the treadmill only to find I did not have the kill switch magnet on the treadmill. So I looked high and low, call my kid to grill the grandkids - of course no one knew antthing about it. So I had to go to the store where I bought the treadmill; they didnot have one, but suggested I call the manufacture or to get a really strong magnet to go over it. Son of a _ _ _ _ _! I am finally motivated and my BRAND NEW Treadmill wont work. I know my grand kids must have done something with it, but no is fussing up. We are having a snow "white out" - so no outside running. OK, I will try again tomorrow Kathy thanks for the prayers on the interview - this job is sooooo prefect for me.

July Butterflies Master Thread
Hello July buddies! It is nice to catch up with everyones progress. It sounds like the July Butterflies are doing pretty good. Just getting use to the new lfe style. I am doing great. I started at 199.6 (5ft. 2 inches tall) Surgery was July 16th - I am at 164 today!! I have had 4 fills and the last one hit the sweat spot for me. I am lovin it. I am not hungry, I can only eat about a cup of solid food at a time and am satisfied for several hours. I still struggle with ordering food out. I also order too much. I do much better at home. I finally bought a set of food scales. I think weighing my Protein will help me be more consistent. I have experienced the ever popular PB'ing and food return!! Not pleasant but it does help one learn the limit. I am soooo glad I got the lap band. It is just the tool I needed to help me set quanity limits. Although I was self pay; I consider it the best investment I have ever made. Everyone have a great day, don't worry about those plateaus and flutating scales - we are doing it - the right way.

Congrat Sugar Onderland welcomes you with open arms. Come on in and stay forever!!!! Kathy, you have a way of articulating what I am thinking. And Georgia; I too have to dig deep to find my zone again. I find it interesting that during my current round of interviews that my appearance has made a difference - I know it! This particular Center has the most beautiful health care worker collected under one roof. Now the fact that I am absolutely qualified aside, I believe my "sleeker" image is playing a part in the selection process. I also wonder if a part of that is my confidence level and the way I carry myself too. I feel healthier, my energy level is great and I know that running makes it even better. In the past with my plateaus, I would stay there and get discouraged and yo-yo back up. With my friend "Gilbert" (that's what I call my lapbands name); I just ride out the plateau and then have a huge drop, I love that part! My last plateau lasted 7 weeks! It was frustrating. I also think a part of that is because I was not running either. My Re-newed goals 1. Reach my goal weight by making health food choices utilizing my lapband for quantity control and exercising regularly 2. Attend church regularly 3. Advance my career to provide the greatest good to as many people as possible 4. Provide the family support as needed 5. Be the wife my husband deserves In summary; be the best "me" I can be to benefit others.

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Wow Kathy I think you are dead on. When I think about the drive and determination each of us has achieved it is awesome! I think it is ok to give ourself permission to take a slight breather and enjoy the success along the journey. Then it is on to phase2! "Finishing the success." I feel great; I look great = I am so very proud.I want to finish this weight loss journey. I also remember how great I felt when I would come home after a long run. Stinky, sweaty, exhausted, and so energized!!! I want to feel that way again. I will think of my list of motivation too. I think this boat is full of great peope - we need to refocus abit.

Renewedhope and Georgia girl, count me in. I have not been on my treadmill for 4 weeks. My weight loss is great - at 164!!!! But I am not exercising at all. My band is a tight too tight, but I am going to tough it out a little bit longer. I have a NEW job interview tomorrow! I feel confident about the interview except it is a LUNCH interview. With my band being a little too tight and the stress of the interview - I am so afraid I am going to PB and puke on the table.!!! It is an Italian restaurant - any suggestions on food selection for a tight band and nothing too messy ??? I plan to run as soon as I get home tomorrow. I want a full report from everyone on rather you ran or not. I need your encouragement - I am struggling!!! I am so sorry to hear about our sick friends. Get better soon. Stay in bed and baby yourself (if you can)

Are there any low bmi's who talk often?
OK low BMI'ers I had my surgery July 16th - I weighed 199.6 and am 5'2 at age 50. It is now Dec 1st I am 164 pounds 5'2 and 50 years old. I had to pay out of pocket and I would have sold my teeth for this surgery. It was the best thing I have ever done. I have now had 3-4 fills and just reach what is referred to as the sweat spot! No head hunger, about 1 cup of food at atime fills me up. I have really had to keep my head in the game getting to this point though. Remember it is a tool to control your quantity/ portion control! You still have to chose what goes in your mouth and how often. Here are few of my tips: 1. always chose protein first 2. never drink fluids and eat solids at the same time 3. get your fills as often as you can to get to the sweat spot. 4. never give up. 5. If you have to sell a limb to get the surgery do it!! I feel great and you will too. I was in a tight size 14 as we speak I am wear a size 8 jeans!

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Hello, Immmmmm Backkkkkkkkkk I don't know what happen to me. Well I think I know. If you remember, I had doctors orders to not run due to my TURF TOE! I was suppose to be off running for two weeks; haven't run in 4 weeks!!!! I think it is a matter of "getting in a routine or getting OUT of a routine. My weight and measurments are doing good. I am at 166 today and my measurements are following along nicely; but my exercise has been absolutely NOTHING! Today is a new day. As soon as the grandkids leave, I will be on my treadmill. I am wondering if I need to start over with the C2 5K or just try to pick up. Anyone have any ideas.

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Hey gang, I am here. Thanks for missing me. I went to New York for a long weekend with my mom, me, my daughter, and granddaughter. We had a blast! I did gain 4 pounds; but I have 2 back off already. I get my next fill on Thursday. I have been stuck around 170 forever!!!!!! 168- then 172 then 170; I can't seem to break through. I havent run in two weeks! Turf toe (as you remember) but I am better now - toe is great and ready to run. Between the fill and the running maybe I can break through! I am glad everyone is doing well and welcome to all of the newcomers. This is an excellent program and a great support group. I will be on two days of liquids and then mushies for the weekend. I am ok with that. I think I need to start over with the running and the food - Good night all.
