How Often Do You PB
You all inspire me, I've been PBing (productive burp) almost daily since my last fill a week and a half ago. I will be sticking with liquids from now until I can avoid PBin'. Oddly enough, mushies won't go down, but crisp things that can be chewed to liquid can.

Allow me to introduce myself...
I have a question! I have a 4cc band, my first fill was 2.8cc and my second was 1.2...if the saline disipates (sp?) at .1cc per month...ish that puts me at 3.8cc. If part of the bands restriction is lost when we lose fat around the stomach area then my question is: Will I eventually not be able to get restriction at all? Yes, I am a worrier...yes, I am medicated for that. haha Thanks for the help, Tammy

Anyone w/PVC's or other "benign" cardiac arrhythmias?
I think most people don't know they are having PVCs, they think it's indigestion or something. Bariatric medication (read as diet pills) induced PVCs are one of the many reasons I chose to have a lap band placed. Most of my friends use a diet Doc. every few yrs when their weight gets out of hand, I on the other hand have short runs of PVCs when taking diet pills that absolutely scare the crap out of me. I even watch my caffine intake, yeah I know most of it is probably my imagination...but when I feel that flip-flop in my chest it's real to me!

Anyone in the DFW area?
Cynthia, I was banded 2/3/06 in Monterrey, mx and am interested in finding a Doc in the DFW area to continue my fills and follow ups. Would you mind sharing your Docs information with me? I've returned to Monterrey twice for fills, but would like to be able to have a fill in one afternoon instead of it taking a 3 day weekend.

February 2006 bandsters unite!!
Hey gang, It's hard not to start eating to fast at the begining of the meal because I get Sooo hungry, then I PB, then I don't want to eat but I'm still hungry. I've lost 3 lbs. since my fill Sat.... I am nothing if not persistant, I have discovered that I can eat 100 calorie packages of Sandies and they stay down, that said there seems to be no rhyme or reason to what I can or cannot hold down.

February 2006 bandsters unite!!
Just got back from Monterrey, had my second fill 1.4 more, had to have .2 removed the next morning because I could get broth down. My Kiddo and I had a ball...his first time out of the country...He is an awesome kid, 17 yrs old, quick witted and open to new foods, places, and people. As usual I wanted to shoes shop, "No, Mom, Please just one day without a shoe store". "Come on Tom", I said, "I gave you life...". He interupted, "Oops, too late now." lol

Hubby Doesn't want Wife to work
It could very well have everything to do with it. Although, look further into it and ask yourself WHY are they lower end income. If the answer is laziness or lack of motivation, then I'm willing to bet that IS the answer. If you are drawn to men with those personality traits, try being aware of that inbuilt attraction and force yourself to see attractive qualities in men who are stronger in character. I so agree and would like to add: 1. A therapist is an awesome tool, you walk in and tell her what you want out of life that you don't have and over a 4 to 6 week periods she helps you talk at why you aren't getting what you want. Make notes after each session so you can see your progress. When she gives you a "do it" idea, follow through. I did a yard project to deal with unresolved anger. 2. Think about internet dating, you talk to fellas and find out what they think about life, what they want out of life, what their dreams are....and you block them if you don't like what you read...all of this without wasting a drop of lip gloss on a loser. Good luck.

What size do you want to be?
I'm 5'10", I started in a reeeeally tight 20, now I'm a 16W...I want to be an 8/10 again. While I look forward to shopping in the "regular" department again I will miss the "Sisterhood" feeling of the Women's dept and Lane Bryant. We all talk to each other and help pick out clothes that look nice, I enjoy that so much...

Starting Over TV Show
Can you believe they would cancel it? I find soap operas annoying, but this...this is the ultimate soap opera, because the stories are real. I also wanted to see Vanessa at the race, were you surprized at how different Candy looked? She's lost weight and lightened her hair, looks great.

When to do my band
I'm with Margo, take this time to relax and then plan to hit it running after vacation. To be honest, I didn't diet in the weeks before my band. I took that time to say goodbye to naughty food.

I have a fill tomorrow and the I'm going to talk to a dietician on Monday to get my game plan together. I'll let you know what she says.

A very embarrassing problem
Post-op think stool softener, not laxative...also think warm, warm drinks, warm bath...don't forget to move, walking gets stuff moving.

I Love Watermelon!
Kat, While watermelon doesn't freeze well; oddly enough, most other melons will. If you find cantaloupes or honeydews on sale ball 'em and freeze 'em and enjoy them all through the long hot summer.

Teenager in Vidor died Had lap band and Medical Center Obesity center closed
What a sad story. With cardiac arrest in an 18 yr old IF it's dieting my first thought is amphytimines. Yes, docs still prescribe them. However, it could be something completely unrelated to dieting.

Why can't I lose!!!!!!
Jack, Your post was just what I needed today, I'm up and down 1 pound over and over for the past 3 weeks. It's not about the pound, is it? It's about the process, the retraining for a healthy attitude towards food...and body image. I often learn from you. Thank you. Michmouse, I was banded 3 days before you and have lost 33 lbs., we are doing very well. Why are we pushing ourselves so hard...we have the rest of our lives to enjoy our new body, so let's take some time to get to know it.

Fun thread: foreign languages
Sweet Baby (my 6'5" adorable husband) was stationed in Germany for a couple yrs in his first life ( the army), but swore to me that he didn't learn much German. A year or so ago we spent a week in Italy and the more Italian he heard the more German he spoke in response! Go figure! I, on the other hand was raised in North East Texas, therefore I speak "Bubba" ( also known as redneck) as a second langauge.

I feel like I haven't even been banded
Do you have an appointment for your first fill? If not get one, it'll give you some piece of mind knowing you only have to hang on for __ more weeks then you'll have restriction again. Good luck, Tammy

Hi New Here Any Vegetarians Here?
Hi Ashley, Congrates on the surgery date, I'll think of you on the 26th. I've played with being a Lacto-Ovo (more Ovo) Vegetarian for yrs, but never made the commitment to see it through. Post-band life is like pre-band life in that we are encouraged to eat a well balanced diet. I am having a harder time than ever getting enough protien, I'm using soy milk, eggs, and legumes mostly. Do you cook with tofu? I would think it would have a great consistincy for the soft stage and could easily be made mushy. I was also banded in Mx, what city does Dr. Joya practice in? I was banded in Monterrey and am enjoying returning for fills.

Danish Pastry
I'd never heard of bread stretching the pouch before ether, but it makes sense. I've found that I can only eat 1/4 of a sandwich before becoming extremely full...it's not the shaved turkey filling me up now is it? Bread could expand in the pouch, thus the over full pain and the pouch stretching. I'll be removing bread from my marketing list! Thanks for the info Andy.
