The anticipation has got me ! I feel as prepared as I will ever be, at least with the immediate post op stuff. Want to get it over with and start losing! I am fantasizing about being back to my self, and about all I would like to do this summer. Maybe paddle boarding?
    Oct 24th, here I come.
I only do clear liquid diet the day before,,,,,feeling very lucky.
    Good vibes accepted.

Beachladee3 reacted to Bmanns01 in You don't need WLS just go on a diet!
My surgery date is October 29 and I have ran into the same issue. I stopped telling people I'm having the sleeve done. (Easy for me as I am having my gall bladder removed at the same time. So I've just been mentioning that and not the sleeve.) Now that I am day 3 of liquid diet, I am ready to just go to bed and sleep till surgery day. Between the hunger pains and the comments about how disappointed people are in my choice, I just am having a difficult time. The worst are the ones who have told me they know I'm going to fail because "if you don't have the willpower before surgery to lose the weight, you're not going to have it after and you're just going to stretch your pouch and gain the weight back." I really don't think I would be able to do this without my husband and kids making our house a support zone for me where I can hide from the nay Sayers. I just joined this page in hopes of finding some answers/support from people who have been in my situation.

At least it will go in after u r asleep! If its still in when you wake up, it will prob be removed once you are up and walking and can go pee under your own steam.

Beachladee3 reacted to CrankyMagpie in Should I buy a scale?
Wait until 1 month, or maybe even 6 weeks, after surgery. Every day someone new makes a post freaking out about a "stall" in their first month, and "oh no the surgery isn't working," but it's just their body reconfiguring and getting used to its new normal. It happens to everyone. I don't know about you, but I have an appointment ~10 days after surgery and another ~1 month after surgery, and those seem like fine times to get official weights recorded.
(I do own a scale now. I had it before surgery. But if I didn't have one, I wouldn't buy one now.)

Beachladee3 reacted to BajanSleeve in Had to pull car over to vomit. Almost lost 50 lbs!
Well geez. I am 3 months post op and I had a convention and had to eat out. I tolerate soft meatballs so I decided to buy 2 tablespoons of soft beef stew for lunch. Oh boy that was a disaster. When I left the mall and was driving to my event I had to pull over twice to vomit. My gosh did I feel sick for about 3 hours. awful awful awful. I just don't understand why at this point I cannot seem to get meats down. Its protein! And low carb which is important to me as a diabetic.
Has this happened to anyone before? it was projectile vomiting UGH!I am getting ready to Celebrate loosing 50 lbs!! Its only 1 lbs away. I am SO thrilled. I am traveling for the first time since my surgery to my 25th college reunion. Really hoping that I will be able to get by being overseas and no access to my usual go to foods. Guess it will be Protein Drinks galore.
I remember feeling like I would fail at this but here I am getting ready to celebrate 50 lbs after 3 months. I can clearly see how loosing another 50 by the end of this year is possible and I am getting EXCITED!
I bought my first 'regular size' clothing 2 weeks ago. A regular size large. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh that felt GREAT! I have not been able to fit into anything but plus size clothing for about 6 years so I was real fussy

Beachladee3 reacted to Sleeved36 in What did you tell people at work?
Just outed myself at a newer job. 😮
Had surgey 5 months ago and hadn't told anyone at my new job yet. I don't know them and don't want to spend my life talking about it. Already got sh#t for saying this but, I am more than just a WLS patient.
THEN . . . . someone I work with is having surgery in 2 weeks and is so scared she is thinking about canceling. Poor thing is terrified and alone . . . .. Really felt like it was my duty to tell her I had it too and she will be alright.
Guess I have another surgery buddy. Not sure how others at work will react. I don't care that it is personal, just don't want it to define me too much, especially to a bunch of strangers.

I think one of the factors is, do you take meals with your coworkers, especially meals out.
I do quite frequently. My stomach capacity is so small, I barely make a dent in a meal, and it is very obvious. Especially if they observe it repeatedly. I would not be able to get away with "I'm eating healthier" etc. Between the small amount I eat and my rapid weight loss, someone would have called an eating disorder intervention.
I created a medical issue that is not WLS, to explain my eating and weight loss. I don't like the fabrication, but my struggle with my weight isn't something I am willing to share.

I spoke with the lady and told her this was not what we agreed to. There are two women that handle financing at this office. The one my wife and I met with told us what our portion would be and the other one is the one that sent me this statement. I can’t seem to get the one that originally spoke with is back in January of 2017 on the phone. I am thinking I might have to call and see if I can schedule an appointment just to see her. It’s absurd.

I'm sorry you're having problems. But please, PLEASE for God's sake, tell your surgical team about this. I think your nurse is with your surgeon? But do NOT let your PCP treat you for a potential issue with your surgery. The only person you should be listening to is your surgeon and by-proxy his nurse/Pa/team.
