    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Hi everyone. I saw the start of the thread 2 weeks ago, and I started the program last week. I got banded May 5th (cinco de Mayo) and I have lost 23 lbs. since then. This is my first "real" excercise since the surgery. I liked the way the program starts out, but for some reason I just felt like not walking as much and jogging more. I live in South Florida, and it's very hot and humid! I do jog outside. I like my park,(CB Smith for those who know where it is) and my community has a great trail/path. It's a mile from my front door to a street I jog up to. I start by doing some streching and power walking 1/4 of a mile then I jog, very "lightly". I have back issues, so I don't want to damage anything(more). I hope to continue, I've jogged everyday this week except today, even in the rain! Yeah the first few days were painful and I felt like I was going to DIE, but I got over it. It still hurts to go up the stairs, but all is ok right now. Thanks for the inspiration!

    Ready and willing!

Wow! It's been a month and I haven't heard,I hope your surgery went well. I'm down a total of 23lbs since May 5th. I started a program called couch to 5k. I'm sore, but I'm sure it will be worth it. Have a speedy recovery.
  5. Hey Allison, I got banded on May 5th. I'm almost at the same weight as you. I have had two fills about 4 weeks apart, but I feel no restriction! I have to watch what I eat. I also started the couch to 5k program. I read about it on one of the fourms a week ago, and I just started. It slowly takes you from a couch potato to RUNNING in two months! SO I hope to lose more weight now that I'm excercising.Check in later. And good luck!

Hey Salsa! WOW, congrats on the photo shoot. I have to ask you, how did you get motivated to excercise in the beginning? Besides just going thru life changing surgery, I know I have to do this, but how? I hate excercising! Even walking. Well walking while shopping dosen't count, but do I just do it? I want to eventually run, that is my dream. I just need the push. Thanks.
  7. :shades_smile:Hello from sunny, sexy south fla. I was banded on Cinco de Mayo. I'm in need of a buddy or more. I 'm not always that motivated and when I feel down I come to this fourm. This is even better as it's helping me directly. I was 220 pre- op and I'm 5 3". I'm married with two kids. My friends try to help, but there is nothing like going to someone who's been there and done that. I guess my love affair with food is going to have to take a back seat until I have the motivation and the doctors ok to eat normally. Right now I'm having a really hard time eating enough protein and I'm sick of liquids. I'm drinking Slimfast, because it's the only thing that taste's good. My doctor has me on full liquids until I see him next week ( I hope). I've had some soft foods with mixed results. I don't think it's cheating, because so many have eaten much sooner. It was the mashed potatoes that made me feel like crap. Someone please mentor me.... Denise:shades_smile:

    Ready and willing!

Hey Salsa, I had read some of your other posts and I had already liked your "style", before the new mentor/buddy thing. I find you an inpiration because of all you have said in this thread and something no one has mentioned...you RUN!!! Running is my dream. I told my primary doctor, (who is very reluctant to approve anyone) that all I want to do is run. I'm 38, married for 12 years and I have a 11 yo daughter and a 7 yo son. I went in to my surgery at 220 and I'm 5 3". I never felt fat, I've been overweight for 15 years, since I met my husband. I was 205 when I got married. He loves me no matter what I weigh. My problem was back pain. Since I've dropped 15 or so pounds, no back pain. I just want to keep up with my kids, both are very active. Like I said I never felt that I was fat. I have all kinds of skinney family and friends. No one ever made me feel bad. I always wore cute clothes, never anything black. But my back had issues that I had to deal with. I tried dieting and excercise, nope my back felt worse. As soon as my doctor approved me I felt as though I won the lottery. I got banded on Cinco De Mayo. My surgeon has put me on a full liquid diet, since I saw him a few weeks ago. I have eaten some soft foods with no problems, except the other day, I had clam chowder and some mashed potatos. I felt like my whole esofagas was going to explode! NEVER AGAIN. Live and learn...but anyway someday I hope to run like you. Will you be my mentor? Denise:blush:

Weigh in... how much have u lost?

I was banded on May 5th and including pre-op diet, I've lost 13 pounds. My doctor has put me on a full liquid diet until I see him on June 10th. I do have cottage cheese, but besides that it's only soup and slimfast. I don't like the protein shakes. Sometimes I have smoothie. I started walking this week, I''m a slow healer so I have to take it easy.

    Going CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!

Guess what? You are so not alone! I'm also on a liquid diet until at least June 10th. I hate it too. I "cheat" by having a bite of this or that, and I hate myself for it. I'm just sick if the soup and jello. I can have cottage cheese. But that's the only thing I allow myself to eat that's semi solid. I think cream of wheat might "expand" in my new stomach so I won't have that until my doctor says it's ok. I know it's hard and it won't last forever. This forum helps with motivation so just keep reading. Someone always has the same problems and alot of people give great advice.

The Top 20 Worst Things to Order

wow! Thanks for that. It's sobering about the kids mac and cheese. How many of us make the simple choice of ordering that for them, not knowing what harm we're doing.
  13. yeah me too! I was banded on the 5th! I feel very wiped out! I'm only on clear liquids and that hurts. I'm cheating by having small sips of slimfast. I'll need some energy when i go back to work on Wed.
  14. Hi I got banded on Cinco de Mayo and I'm starving too! BUT my doctor put me on CLEAR liquids! I "cheated" last night and today by sipping a tiny bit of slimfast. I can't wait until muschies! Why do some people get the luxury of having FULL liquids? I would kill for some cream soup!
  15. Surgery was ok, post op diet sucks! I've "cheated"by sipping a tiny bit of slimfast to control the hunger pains. I don't know why some people get protein shakes right after surgery.
