Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores Thread

I am approaching one year. I’ve lost about 90 pounds from highest. I exercise every day. I drink protein shakes and mainly eat turkey chili. I still have problems eating certain food. But I am so much happier.

    The Maintenance Thread

I’m getting closer to goal weight and the idea of maintenance is terrifying. I know how to lose weight, but never keep it off permanently. I am following weight watchers, but I find I graze all day too. I stay in my calorie range plus do an hour of exercise a day. So I’ve steadily lost over 70 pounds in the last year. But as I get closer to my goal weight, I have to focus on how to keep steady. I eat small portions and snack on fruit, but my sweet tooth never went away after surgery.

    I can’t date overweight people

If you had a problem with Alcohol, you wouldn’t want to date someone who was a big drinker. Find someone who has the same priorities and life goals as you. That is not shallow, it’s smart.
  6. All I can say is- I have my life back. Was it worth it? 100%.

To Tell or NOT to Tell

I only told my immediate family (husband, daughter, mother and one close friend.). I’ve lost almost 90 pounds and people obviously notice but I don’t think it’s any of their business. I credit healthy eating and running.

    Made new weight range!

I now notice that the design in the tile looks like cracks in the picture- so it looks like I am breaking the floor with my weight! LOL!
  11. I am so thankful for the continued weight loss after my bypass. I measure in 10 pound increments. Out of the 190’s and into the 180’s!
  12. This is a personal reflection. I felt like 2018 was a really bad year. Work drama, lots of stress, personal concerns. Just not really happy in general. Then I remembered that 2018 will always be the year I had gastric bypass, and it is changing my life. 2018 has set me up for a terrific 2019. Down 50 pounds in 4 months and RUNNING again. I love to run. I feel free and it takes away all my stress. So thank you 2018! Thank you for everything and for bringing me to a new year full of promise! Happy new year, pals! May this year be your year of change too!

    Onederland!

I’m 18 weeks post bypass. For the first time in more years than I can remember- I am in onederland! I feel so much better now. More energy, easier to exercise, not as self conscious. I am thankful for this opportunity to lead a healthier life.
