I think therapy will be super helpful for you, and I'm going to talk from my experiences with MY therapist.
I understand what you're saying about missing the way you used to eat. From what I've worked through with my therapist, it's the ability to control what goes into my mouth. If I was having a bad day, if my abusive parents went off on me, I could gain control of my life again by eating an entire large pizza. If I was tired, if I felt like I wasn't going anywhere in life, I could eat an entire Pasta bread bowl and cheese sticks. I could eat one, two three cheeseburgers because I wanted to, I was in control of how much I ate and went. That feeling of being full, of tasting that food over and over again, was what calmed me down.
Unfortunately, like more instant forms of self-harm, it's an unhealthy coping skill. You haven't gained any control by eating two large Double Double meals with milkshakes. All you've done is postponed your time to deal with it.
having surgery and having to be "forced" into a new way of eating takes this control away. You can't do what you used to do, so you feel like you're out of control.
You are worth so much more than gorging yourself on food. You are worth working through your feelings. You deserve so much more than what your brain may be telling you, and I'm so proud of you. ❤️

Just curious, were you "press-ganged" into having this surgery? I ask cuz in your original post you mention "I hate this life I am now forced into."?
What did you think would be different once you had surgery? Did you receive any pre-surgical instruction from your RD or surgical team?
I ask because everyone's team is so diff! I had 6 months of in-depth work with the RD and my doc and doc's team and eating, and can still go see the RD whenever I need to do a tune-up--for the next 5 years. LOL. I went in with my eyes open and was relieved to have the opportunity of the change it represented and happy about the chance to live a normal, healthy lifestyle.
I think therapy is an awesome thing to do!!! For everyone!

Hang in there, it took me a few weeks to stop puking my brains out and actually feeling like a halfway normal person again. BUT it’ll be three months post op next week, almost 50 lbs down and I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat 💗

@Eliz_123 what you are experiencing is absolutely normal! Your stomach is still swollen from having major surgery, give your body a chance to heal, two weeks isn’t long at all AND you’ve lost 13 lbs! That’s awesome, in that short amount of time...follow your plan and you will lose, I think most plans tell you that it takes 1 year to 18 months to get to goal, some people definitely do lose the weight faster but everyone’s body is different, you have to factor in age, starting weight, medical issues and the list goes on. None of us put on this weight overnight so we are not going to lose it overnight. You are on track and doing quite well so try and relax and not focus so much on the scale, follow your plan and the weight will come off.

Do a search on stalls and you will find so many topics and see that you are not alone. Keep up the good work the end result will be worth it. 😊

Only 3lbs? What is with the only, that is a heap! Remember a lot of the initial weight loss is actually Water, once you start losing fat it’s a little slower

I had a similar experience. I lost 11 lbs in my first week post-op, and then stalled for a couple weeks after that. Then by week four I started to drop again. I am now six weeks post-op and have lost 30 lbs. Just give yourself some time, and try not to compare yourself to other people. Everybody seems to lose at different rates. Keep your head up! You got this!

I was sleeved on 8/14 so not quite 3 months. Total weight loss of 66 pounds so far and under the 200 pound mark. Currently at 194.2 and dropping a pound every 1-2 days, Had to stop going to the gym for 2 weeks but gettin ready to resume as I got a cortisone injection in my back and all better now. Strained it lifting heavy statue in the yard. I am in shock at how fast the weight has come off. Still eat very little but drinking much more Water now and the Protein Shakes do not bother me at all now. Feeling better and stronger. This is best decision I have ever made, but took me almost 7 weeks to feel that way.

Right after surgery please just concentrate on healing and letting the swelling go down, your health is more important than the scale. I actually didn’t think about the scale right away, when I went for my first post op visit that’s when I found out how much I had lost. Trust me the weight is going to come off but it takes time and patience. Everyone’s been there. Your new sleeve is a tool to help you lose weight, stick to the plan and do your part and the sleeve will do its part.

I wish you all the best on your journey!

It’s my 2nd Anniversary. We had a Zombie wedding. Last year, the first year after my beautiful bloodied and torn wedding gown, I struggled to decide on a costume. This year I decided to be a bride EVERY darn year from here on out so I can buy a new wedding dress every year! 😁
The 1st photo is me with one of the Grand’s two years ago after wedding. I ballooned up to 209 after that. The 2nd photo is me trying on this year’s gown before it was fitted better.

I've been to 2 parties this year.
One event I wore my Oogie Boogie cosutme (100% home made, custom for me, made by my buddy and I over 30ish hours)

And the other party I went in my Super Mario outfit. (the only part that's licensed is the hat, the rest is pieced together as to not be a "Purchased" Costume (and holy crap was it huge on me LOL))

No idea what I'm wearing tonight... if any.

Thank you all for your well wishes. I missed it and my heart is broken...

I have been admitted at a bariatric hospital. I have suffered so much. I was on my way to pick up my kids from school in the pouring rain (the 30 min ride was over an hour due to an accident), and I was on the freeway stopping every 10-20 minutes on the side to throw up. At one point in time my heart was palpitating and my fingers and toes started to go numb so I pulled over at a gas station and my husband who was over an hour away from me dialed 911 for an ambulance to come . They showed up with the Fire department and run an EKG to make sure I was not having a heart attack, my heart was racing and I continue to feel like I had an elephant sitting on my chestFire department and run an EKG to make sure I was not having a heart attack, my heart was racing and I continue to feel like I had an elephant sitting on my chest. I told them I needed to get to a place that handles Bariatric’s, But they refused to transport me all the way to Dallas where my doctor is private surgical center, as that would have been two hour ride in rush hour traffic, so I refuse to go with them to a local emergency room as I knew that they would not really know what to do with me and judging from my experience at the ER the previous day they would just try to control the nausea and let me go even though the strongest medicine they have, promethazine has not been controlling my vomiting.i also knew the wait there would be hours and hours as I would be triaged with trauma patients.

My husband picked the kids and they met me in the gas station and I watch my eight-year-old son well up with tears streaming down his face when he realized mommy will not be making the mother son dance that he has been waiting for over a year )missed last year’s one due to being out of the country, and this year I promised him come whatever, I’ll be there! I even rescheduled my work trip out of county to be there (scheduled to leave this Thursday and I just don’t know how I can go...). My heart just broke and I felt like I had failed him as A mom, and even then, the crazy side of me tried to tell him it will be OK and we will still go but then I proceeded to violently vomit in front of my kids and realized it’s just not gonna happen . I had my husband stay with the kids and I still drove myself to the hospital in Dallas. Because him driving me would mean bringing along the kids for a long night and what is the point in that. I drove through the rain vomiting most of the way by the time I made it here I was vomiting every 10 minutes. Exhausted, my esophagus burning, felt like a giant grapefruit was stuck in it. They started an IV and gave me some nausea meds which did not work and I just keep throwing up spit and bile. Morning can’t come soon enough so my surgeon will come and probably scope me.

sorry for long post... got nothing but suffering and time here. But I thank God he’s kept me alive, so please pray they fix me soon...

I am so sorry! Sending you comfort, healing, and peace.

I know that Hyatt Place and Homewood Suites will go out and purchase groceries for you during the day and stock your fridge if you give them a list - no extra charge other than what the groceries cost at the store which they put right on your bill. You could have yogurts and milk and fruit delivered for smoothies (carry your own Protein powder), chicken breast and salad stuff. I try to do that when I'm traveling.

Update** just spoke with my NUT and feel much better after the conversation. She told me the weightloss is amazing. She also said my diet is fine and that she doesn't think it's necessary for me to cut my afternoon Protein Shake. She says my surgeon gets concerned that people drink excess calories but that's not the case in my situation. She told me to stay the course that she thinks I'm doing well .

It's not a race. It's a marathon. So what if you lose 3.2lbs less than their expectations this month, as long as all the weight you have lost stays lost forever.
If you are honestly following your plan, relax and let it work.
    but
    DRINK MORE Water, everyone should...
