  1. In the past, everytime I start a new diet I am so jazzed that I tell the world. Then after a few weeks I always have the set backs for one reason or another and then all the weight goes right back on. I am not ashamed of having the surgery I just want to keep it private for now until my lifestyle and weight changes are noticeable and then I will be very selective on who I choose to share it. I know that this is the right thing for me at this point in my life. I am starting to have many health problems because of my weight, so it is justified. I just want to live my life to the best of my ability, be active and joyful and not have to defend myself to anyone. Someone said on this thread "my oppinion is the only one that matters" That is so true. My husband and sister are so supportive of me, that is all I need. And this website where I can bare my soul, knowing you all understand. Thanks so much! Becky
  2. Thoes a fantastic goals.....You can do it. Hope you have a great time at Disney World!!
  3. You must be able to buy thoes cute little shoes now. You have done so well. How are you feeling and any advise for someone getting ready to have lap band? Also can you tell me how to make one of thoes cute weight ticker grafts. I want to start one now in preparation for all thoes pounds that are going to come off.LOL Becky
  4. Indio, love your words of wisdom. I can't tell you how much it means to hear from thoes that have gone before me on this journey. Thanks so much for sharing. Becky
  5. Thank you so much for the information on the protein drinks. I also heard about one called Pro 5 which has 32 grams of protein and 2 grams of carbs. My friend told me the the cookies and cream flavor was pretty good. I am going to try a couple of them and see which I will stick with for my fast. Thanks again!
  6. I have decided not to tell my BF's, only my hubby and sister who are both supportive of my decision. After a few months I may tell my BF's if they ask how i have lost all the weight. I would just say that i have cut back and am exercising but I work in the hospital where I am having surgery and I am sure that it is going to get out about my surgery. For now I am going to limit who i tell. Becky
  7. Hey, I like the way you think.....that's progress!!
  8. Donna, you've lost 60lbs in two months???? Is that unusual? And you feel good? WOW, what is your secret? Becky
  9. Thanks for sharing your post op experience. It is very helpful for thoes of us who are getting ready for surgery. I kind of want to know what to expect even though I know that everyone will have their own experiences. Generally speaking, it sounds like it is tolerable. I have had laparoscopic surgery about 20 years ago it wasn't too bad. I just want it to be over with and on my way to recovery. What is the name of that protein powder you like so much? Becky
  10. Thoes are all wonderful goals and I think they are attainable. We can do this...lets all stick together and keep encouraging each other. I love this web site for that very reason. I am with you in spirit because I share the same goals and history and pain. Let's share the ups and downs, joys and progress together because I know that WE CAN DO IT!!!
  11. Thanks so much and same to you! Becky
  12. Great to hear it Tristin. I am having surgery on May 12th. What was it like??? Becky
  13. I guess what we really need to do is keep our wants and dreams out there to focus on when times get tough. We will have a wonderful tool to help us on the way and it will be up to each of us to keep working toward our goals. This is not a quick fix but a lot of hard work. I think that the band is going to be the trigger to help us make our dreams come true. I have to believe that this is the case because I have tried everything else. Good luck to you all and me too!!
  14. I am hoping I can manage at work with the gas pains. Does Ibuprofen help??
  15. Well, I have you beat on age. I am 58 and thinking that maybe I am being unreasonable with my expectations. It is just that I work in a small unit of nurses and we have very little extra help to cover time off unless we make plans months in advance. I just found out that I could have surgery right away and I had to do some swaping with other staff members to get 4 days off. I quess if worse comes to worse i can call off sick friday and then I will have the weekend to recover some more. I just had to go for it or else i would have had to wait until July for surgery. YIKES
  16. I am having surgery on a monday and am planning to return to work that friday. I have a pretty sedentary job. do you think that is unreasonable??
  17. How are you feeling? What was it liked when you woke up in recovery room? Was the pain unbearable or was it tolerable. My surgery is on May 12th. My friend had it today and when I called her she was sleeping but her mom said she was doing well.
  18. You know what my favorite outfit would be if I could wear anything? Faded 501 jeans with a white Tshirt tucked in with a cute little belt. Just to be able to tuck in again would be heaven! LOL Becky
  19. I love that. What a wonderful goal. I want to be active throughout my life. Right now I would be happy to be able to tie my shoes without passing out, climb stairs without huffing and puffing, be able to go on long hikes with my husband without pooping out, to be able to dance without my knees and back killing me. To feel healthy and happy and good about myself. Yeah!!! Becky
  20. Great reply....I'll have to remember that one!! Becky
  21. Great advise Jack. I am having surgery soon and hope, with the tool of lap band to be able to change my eating habits. Right now I don't seem to have that sensation of fullness when I eat. I am trying to learn to eat slower and chew my food more and put my fork down between bites. I hope the band will give me the feeling of fullness that will allow me to stop when I am satisfied.
  22. My surgery date is May 12th and sometimes in the middle of the night I wake up with fears about my choice. Hearing your words of encouragement are so comforting. I want to be like you! I want to eat healthy 98% of the time and be able to have small tastes of cake when others are indulging at work or parties. I want to feel like my focus is not on the food table but the converstions and activities around me. I know I am making the right choice and I am not going to let thoes small moments of self doubt stop me from making this decision. I need this tool to have a better life. Becky
  23. I would like to make buddy lists of all the May 12th people but I don't know how to do that.....any help out there? Becky
  24. Hey, May 12th buddy!! High 5!! I guess May 12th is going to become a big anniversary date in my life. I am glad to know that there will be others that can relate. Best wishes to you and keep me posted on your journey! Becky
