  1. My hometown always does a big thing for Halloween. Parade, haunted house, etc. I always enjoy going to walk around with the family. Unfortunately, there are no young kids in my family right now but we still usually go out and look around. I havent been able to get down there for the last two years because Halloween has been on weekdays but I'm hoping I can manage it this year, despite it being on a Wednesday.
  2. This heartburn I'm feeling right now is super intense. I'm afraid to take anything without my doctors consent so I took a bit of pain meds with the hope that the feeling will go away.
  3. I'm also convinced that what I am feeling is from acid reflux. I'm going to call my doctor tomorrow to see if I can up my anti acid dose.
  4. Yeah, I'm only on 1 omeprazole a day and I feel like I need something stronger. I have this lump in my throat feelings but also some of the classic feeling of the slight burn in chest. No "bubble" feeling as you describe. Took a nap and lump in throat isn't as bad now but still noticable.
  5. There is some research that shows that the THC in marijuana causes more grehlin to be produced. Ghrelin being one the main hormones that makes us hungry.
  6. I'm thinking mine might be GERD.
  7. I was a nervous wreck before my surgery..panic attacks, second guessing myself and all that jazz. You can even see some of my posts on here documents my anxiety about everything. Had the surgery 5 days ago and everything went fine. There was pain but nothing unbearable. Not sure what your pain management will be but I was so out of it from the morphine, I dont even remember what happened between the time they knocked me out to the time I was waking up in my room 7 hours later. I wish you well!
  8. If you find anything during your research, let me known. It's not ideal but I dont feel like I am anywhere close enough to being uncomfortable enough to go to urgent care.
  9. Yeah, I'm only 5 days out. Not sure what it could be but it feels like something is caught in my throat but I haven't had anything but liquids. I'm trying to move around a lot so maybe it will go away.
  10. I have the same thing a lot of you are talking about, it feels like a whole bunch of stuff is caught in the bottom of my throat. It doesn't hurt. Just uncomfortable. I keep swallowing trying to push it down.
  11. You guys could also try the unflavored unjury protein powder mixed in water. I could taste it in the water but when I did 1/4 Gatorade, 3/4 water and the powder it tasted fine.
  12. Hey! I had surgery Oct 2nd. I've found that powder protein drinks that I can make myself taste way better than the pre-made ones. I tried one of the muscle milks yesterday and it tasted like chemicals to me. However, I've been doing fairlife milk with celebrate peanut butter cookie protein powder and it has tasted good so far. Mixed together, 8oz of that has 33 grams of protein. Also struggling to get in all my liquids. Each day, I've been doing a little bit better though.
  13. Yeah, I also cant have fruit until I am back on solid foods and even then my NUT suggested I take the skin off apples because they made be rough going down. Also super disappointment I'm missing prime apple season considering they are my favorite. It sounds like your NUT has never had the surgery and doesn't understand how the first week out of surgery is (for some of us). I'm struggling to get in 35 oz a DAY, no way I could do 4 oz of a protein shake in a half hour. For me it doesn't have anything to do with feeling full or not. I actually haven't experienced any hunger since the surgery. Simply if I drink too much, too big of gulp, or too quickly, I experience pain in my chest. So that leaves me slowly taking baby sips of everything throughout the day so that I can stay hydrated and try to meet protein goals. I was able to bring in 42 oz of liquids and 55 grams of protein yesterday and I really had to push it to get to that point. Before surgery I could drink a 11oz pre-made protein drink in like 5 minutes if I wanted. The experience of drinking things is totally different after surgery. I agree, definitely a lifestyle change. Each day after surgery for me has been a learning experience.
  14. You're not allowed fruit on your pre op diet? I didnt have to do a preop diet. It took me 3 days to finish 1 protein shake post op, I feel like (at least for me) it would be nearly impossible to drink 3 of them a day after surgery.
  15. Yeah, those might be good options pre op. Although with a normal sized stomach, youd probably have to eat like 5 of them to feel full. However, for after surgery probably not a good idea. No protein in them.
  16. Also having a rash/irritated skin. I think it's from the tape used over my incisions.
  17. "Organic" doesn't mean without preservatives. It means that they follow stricter regulations on what preservatives they use and how much. I also was never recommended v8.
  18. Lol. The spelling on this site is horrendous. That's the least of all our worries. Hard to care about spelling when I'm hopped up on pain meds and struggling to drink a bottle of water.
  19. Hmm. It may be the protein shake (it took me 3 days to finish one) or maybe the protein hot chocolate I drank. I have never really had normal bowel movements (even pre op) so it's not bothering me a ton. Yes, I'd probably be a lot more cranky if I was on my period while also dealing with the uncomfortableness. I understand the whole "I dont feel good", I'm feeling better today but yesterday I kept saying that to my mom while we were out. She kept asking me what's wrong and I'm like "Idk!! I just dont feel good."
  20. I was told that baby food is a big no-no for bariatric patients. Most have tons of sodium and other preservatives in them. They're also designed with the purpose to help infants/babies gain weight and get bigger, while our goal is the opposite.
  21. Hmm. I'll have to ask my doc about the diarrhea when I see him on Thursday. I havent been eating anything "new" . It also not consistent for me or giving me any cramps. Ive gone about once a day since day 2 post op. I've been thinking it's just the protein shakes and what not. The starving part sounds interesting. I havent felt any hunger since the surgery. I had some head cravings for pizza but no actual hunger. Did you doc give you something for stomach acid?
  22. Sorry things are not going as smoothly as you like so far. I surgery 10/2 and have had some good days and some bad. Yesterday, I had to take the hydrocodone they sent me home with because I decided to walk around the mall and it was way too much for me. Today, I've been taking it easier and havent felt as bad. Each day gets a bit easier which is what is keeping me positive. Also checked the scale and was 4 pound lighter than when I went into surgery which is nice. Tmi, I also have had diarrhea since day 2 post OP. I figure it's better than being constipated.
  23. I live on the second floor of my apt building (no elevator). The first day home, it was a bit painful to get up and down them. Now ( 4 day post op), its not as bad. Just got to take one at a time and hold the railing
  24. Yeah, it's a really horrible feeling. I have so much phlegm caught in my chest but everytime I cough it feels like my insides are falling out
  25. Also four days out and struggling to get up to 35 oz of liquid. I feel like I sip all day long on my 20oz water bottle and then I look at it and it's not even halfway finished. I've been trying to drink some other stuff also though like broth (not a fan), protein hot chocolate, and protein drinks.
