September bypass buddies??
I'm now 8 days post op. Was able to finally sleep on my side last night (hugging a pillow). Feel like I've turned a corner today...hardly any pain relief. Now just need the bowels to start working!!! My doctor added a second laxative today so hopefully some results in the next few days. Pureed food boring but not for much longer!!! Also had heartburn last 2 nights....weird....might have been what I ate. No more today so far. Just a new tummy getting used to working again maybe. Glad to hear the 26th girls went well!!!

Sleeve 5 years ago; now revision to bypass??
I'm in Australia so different costs / insurances etc...we can get as many opinions as we like and choose our surgeon...so it was covered. I'd only had one surgery prior to this. It's usually about where the surgeries were that are relevant not how many. So for for you it would be about your past sleeve/gallbladder surgery that matters. I'm not sure what surgeries were had by the other people w i know who had revisions...sorry

Teriffying experience blockage of food
I'm still on the puree stage and i acknowledge that different doctors recommend different diets. My dietitian has told me to start soft foods after 2 weeks and to start normal diet at 4 weeks. One of the things they stressed is i will have to chew every mouthful till the food liquefies in my mouth before swallowing. Not sure if this helps.

Sleeve 5 years ago; now revision to bypass??
Sorry about the multiple replies....another thing...i had mine done because of a kink in my sleeve also, worsening GORD and weight regain. The kinks usually do need fixing surgically.

Sleeve 5 years ago; now revision to bypass??
Also...I would be wary about a surgeon who called his complications "flukes". That sounds very dismissive and not very caring to me IMHO.

Sleeve 5 years ago; now revision to bypass??
I had mine 5 days ago!!! I did a lot of research and asked my surgeon a lot of questions. The complication rate is not as high as you would think. I know a few people that saw the same surgeon as me and they haven't had any trouble. I'm going well so far. The pain and nausea I'm having is not too bad now with pain relief. If I had heard from my surgeon's patient's that more than one had complications i would have run for the hills!!!

Sleeve 5 years ago; now revision to bypass??
I got a second opinion for sleeve to bypass revision...i went with the 2nd opinion. Sounds like a good idea to may be not have this surgeon. Complications should be low so 5 people is a lot

September bypass buddies??
My surgery is tomorrow. I tried to take my regular medication crushed with water...these past 2 days...yuk!!! Had acupuncture yesterday to help with the surgery and healing afterward. Bought some loose fitting clothing f or the hospital. Now waiting to get the phone call from the hospital to tell me what time i need to be there in the morning. The accupuncture definitely had helped with the pre op nerves.

I agree...speak directly to the doctor or see your own doctor. You should be able to drink fluids now with no pain

September bypass buddies??
I start my preop diet today...it makes everything more real and the nerves are kicking in. The diet is 3 protein shakes per day and 2 cups non starchy vegetables with fluids like water, diet cordial, black tea and coffee. For me the fluids will be water and herbal teas...I'm off coffee and tea and can't stand diet cordial. As I haven't been able to tolerate dairy since my sleeve...i can't do the optifast shakes so I'm using soy protein isolate for my shakes instead. So here goes!! Very excited about this new chapter in my life. Now just impatiently waiting for the 19th!

September bypass buddies??
I start my preop diet tomorrow. I'm really viewing it as the start if my lifestyle change...not the date of my surgery. So tonight my family and I are going out to one of my favourite restaurants (with cocktails) to celebrate and have a last hurrah!! So excited tomorrow is nearly here

September bypass buddies??
I think the "celebrations" of Christmas and birthdays , thanksgiving etc are going to be a challenge. It will be good to support one another through those times
