I flew on an airplane and instead of nearly needing an extender, I had to tighten the belt down. 93 lbs down since April!
Only downside was getting pat downs because of my stomach hanging down. Need to get a Tummy Tuck next year.

    Two NSVs from this weekend!
I was able to buy knee-high boots from PAYLESS!! EXCUSE ME???! Last year Torrid's boots were too small for my calves.
Also, I can cross my legs while sitting! I can't actually remember the last time I was able to do this. I don't think I even could in high school! YAAAYYYY!!

Just checking in with a little positivity. I have been extremely lucky so far and am down 105 lbs since January. My only struggle was until just recently getting enough Water intake. Kept waking up at night or in the morning with dry mouth. I have been walking 2-3 miles a day 5-6 times per week and lifting a few weights. There have been a couple periods where I don't lose for a week and then it comes off quickly. My doctor said 2 lbs a week should be a goal on average. I am back to eating normal foods(no bread, no rice and only the occasional wrap for a subway sandwich. My diet consists mostly of oatmeal for Breakfast, Protein Shake at lunch, then a normal meal for dinner(meat & veggies).
Have zero regrets on having the surgery. I didn't have any health problems prior to, just wanted to lose the weight. I did notice my blood pressure went down 30%, almost too low now(:)). But that was mostly because of my lifetime of tobacco use that no longer happens.
I just got back from vacation, doctor told me I could have a little alcohol, and I did. I didn't experience getting tipsy like a lot of people mentioned you would. I did notice that my weight stays the same every time I have a few drinks, so I am going to have to keep my cocktails to a minimum to hit my goal.
Keep up your faith and discipline. The weight loss will happen.

Sharing my dinner with you dear Bari Sisters and Brothers: Tender Red Cabbage, lovingly braised in Sunflower Oil, with a dash of salt, garlic powder and splash of Red Wine Vinegar for a tart flair, paired with my fav Christmas Beans, soaked overnight, boiled, drained, dusted with Onion Powder and then crisped to perfection in Olive oil! That’s actually my daughters plate which I offset with cauliflower in egg Batter and some slow roasted tenderloin steak . But in my new Veganish way(never ever EVER thought, Vegan and me will be used in same sentence), I paired my cabbage and Beans with a creamy dollop of garlic hummus and a sliver of Avocado! I could almost hear the angels singing, it is well with my pouch!

So I finally got off my butt and did my first workout since the surgery. I’ve been avoiding it idk why— probably because I’m afraid to work out in front of people. So my husband cleared an area for me in my bedroom and got me 5 lb weights. I found a free beginner hiit class on YouTube and I made it though 2/3rds of it. It was hard. But I’m proud of me.

Got my call! 11:30am tomorrow. I am supposed to show up at 9:30, and they're going to let my partner back with me once I'm wearing the surgical gown and have my IV in.
That's pretty much exactly what I'd hoped for. I have class until 9pm tonight, a half hour drive from home, so I was dreading them saying "come in at 5:30am" or something like that. Instead, I'll have several hours to toss and turn and not actually sleep, lol, and my spouse will be awake enough to function, getting me to the hospital. And we don't have to do our teary goodbyes out in the waiting room, with me contemplating my fate alone in between doctor visits--he can sit with me and chat until they roll me back into the OR. ❤️
I am so nervous. But I'm ready, too. I've done all the prep, so much reading. I was perfectly happy on the three month "practice" diet for phase three, and I feel good about that lifestyle. Over the past week I've followed the liquid diet religiously, no cheats. So the parts that are within my control, I know I can handle, and I really need to stop dwelling on the parts that are out of my control--I picked a really good surgeon, I'm in the best possible hands, there's nothing worry will do for me.

Everyone loves before and after pics:) Figured I'd throw in a teaser for my reveal pics at the Fat Prom..lol:) It's been suggested I might be dishonest. Nope, I have not lied about any of my stats or my eating plan. Here's a little proof, as requested:)
My surgeon group is doing research on regain after bariatric surgery and the best way to prevent it. Part of the study I'm involved in included pushing us to eat 1000-1200 calories per day at 3 weeks post op. I can honestly say I have not eaten less than this since the third week after surgery. (this scandalized many people..lol. how dare I eat that much? and eat carbs! OMG! LOL)
Toward the end of hitting my goal, I was eating 1400 calories per day (sometimes 1600). I'm maintaining pretty effortlessly at 1600-1800 calories per day these days. 1600 is an extremely generous and comfortable daily intake limit for me, and I don't journal anymore...just kinda keep estimates in my head of what I'm eating....and as long as the scale looks good... I figure, Meh, close enough:) I do weigh every other day. If weight goes up, I pay attention. Honestly, I'm having more problems keeping it up than down. 1600 calories is a LOT of pea salad and oatmeal. It's a lot of stir fry and fruit. It's a lot of whole wheat toast and almond butter. It's a lot of complex carbs and Protein and veggies and tofu chili! I can afford to thrown in a Protein Bar AND have a Burger King Veggie Burger for lunch! (Ok, I can only eat half...and a few fries...but still! That's only like 300 calories and I'm stuffed)
And I do follow mayo Clinic Diet for the most part...because I love it. I bank my "sweets" calories and eat a treat here and there...and I'm allowed. I eat ice cream cones cause they're wonderful and require measurement. Though, I've gotta say, my tastes have changed. Refined stuff no longer sings to me. Love my complex whole grains! Lentils, Beans, chickpeas and brown rice? Don't mind if I do! I crave fruit. I am a watermelon addict. Would prefer it to candy, cakes and ice cream. And since fruit is fair game on my diet I eat my melon most days and feel pretty smug about it not even eating up my "treat" calories.
Time will tell when all the research comes in (I might be an anomaly), but it really looks like the folks in this study are doing well and are able to eat pretty normal balanced diets three years out without much regain. The whole idea is to not set yourself up for a starvation set point by restricting calories or carbs too long. Again, time will tell what we learn from the data...but I'm grateful to have my cake...and eat it (in moderation)...too:)
I feel like there's a terrific chance for lasting peace in my war with food. Sleeve surgery was a life changing, wonderful decision. Gratitude to my surgeon, to diet researchers at Mayo Clinic, to my psychologist, and to my incredibly supportive family. Thank you all.
PS...to all you ketovangelists...you do you! If it gets you where you want to be, that's awesome. Fight the good fight and do what makes sense to you. I've got no answers for anyone...except me:)
But I've gotta say....I like my diet better than yours..because...ya know...I can eat stuff. Neener, neener, neener:) LOLOLOLOL:) (I am SO teasing...) Best Wishes!
Myself and hubby in August of last year. Myself and the hubby in August of this year. Damn, it's nice to be the little one:) And yeah, I'm kinda hiding in this shot...but it's a teaser. Waiting on the formal wear for the full reveal:) So glad my hair is finally growing back! Whew!

I will be 1 year out on October 6th. I've reach and went below what doctor has given as a goal. I went from 298 to current weight of 132. I am very pleased with the progress I have made throughout this past year. It is a mind set you have to live with forever. I have been given a highly helpful tool with my sleeve and thank God daily for it. Hope all you other sleevers are having as good of progress as I have had!
