Quick update on my status. Thank you all so much for your lovely messages of encouragement each and everyone of them helps me keep my spirits up. I am still at the hospital and it looks like they will not be able to do the endoscopy till Monday morning… Needless to say that is upsetting. They think I have a structure and that they can fix it via the endoscopy. Until then I am on nothing by mouth which is very hard, And IV fluids I am also getting some nausea medicine and pain medicine as needed. The vomiting is now under control so I think God for that. Also my husband and kids came to visit me today and my son made me this beautiful card and call him but I’m sharing with you, they also brought some wonderful flowers and those really helped bring up my spirits as well. I am grateful this did not happen in the middle of My upcoming trip and I am hopeful that I can get fixed and not have issues while traveling. In the meantime I just got done taking a shower in the hospital and I feel more human so I will try to sleep a little to regain my energy. What would I gave for just a glass of cold water… and a sip of Protein drink sounds like heaven to me right about now. For those of you who can, enjoy your liquids on my behalf and count your blessings that you can take something down because I tell you what, without them it gets sucky very quickly...

Update** just spoke with my NUT and feel much better after the conversation. She told me the weightloss is amazing. She also said my diet is fine and that she doesn't think it's necessary for me to cut my afternoon Protein Shake. She says my surgeon gets concerned that people drink excess calories but that's not the case in my situation. She told me to stay the course that she thinks I'm doing well .

It's not a race. It's a marathon. So what if you lose 3.2lbs less than their expectations this month, as long as all the weight you have lost stays lost forever.
If you are honestly following your plan, relax and let it work.

    DRINK MORE Water, everyone should...

Wow, I think your loss is amazing. I'm almost 2 months out and I've lost 27.1 since surgery (45.8 from my highest weight) and I'm thrilled with that. My doc didn't give me a specific weight loss goal for 2 months but I'm supposed to hit 55-70 grams Protein and 60 oz. liquids per day (I do most days). I have been averaging about 1000 calories per day and I have not had a Protein Shake since 2 weeks post-op, I get my protein from food.

I certainly sympathize with you and your struggles. When I had my first dietician appointment post op I was told that I hadn't lost enough and needed to cut back to between 300 and 400 calories. It was quite depressing. However, my bariatician said I was doing fine, as did my surgeon this week. They both told me to expect to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week. To me that doesn't seem fast enough and that I lost at a quicker pace before the surgery. My surgeon told me that I can do 500 to 600 calories per day and to make sure I get at least 50 g of Protein. That is what I aim for right now until I am told otherwise. It isn't easy because I get cravings all the time. sugar free Jello helps, as do almonds.
Be happy and proud with what you have accomplished. WLS is hard work and you are doing it!

Hmm ... I think that is a very aggressive goal by your Dr.
You have to have a calorie deficit of 3,500 calories to lose 1 lb. So by your surgeon's goals you should have a 2,300 calorie deficit each day. Your BMR may not even be that high.

I not an expert or anything, but I really don't think you're eating too much. Did your doctor give you any Protein goal and Water goals? I was told to get at least 80g of protein per day, but I usually get 100g or more, and I get 90oz of water in per day too. What is your protein intake? It doesn't seem high, based on the food you listed. I also wouldn't be disappointed by 36 pounds in 2 months; I think that's great!

Your body is very protective of your life. It responds to quick weight-loss by slowing you down. Self preservation is the real deal and you'd be hard pressed to find anyone on these forums that won't attest to periods of slow weight loss or even the cessation of weight loss while still strictly recording calories and increasing exercise. These periods can last weeks to more than a month. You might even be able to notice that while you are doing your Zumba class or adding in more activity, you still might be having more quiet times or resting state activities in between your increased efforts. I can tell you from personal experience, even though I was doing my elliptical everyday I realized I was extra tired and going to bed an hour earlier than I ever used to. Getting good sleep is great, don't get me wrong, but your body can be really sneaky about slowing down starving to death which is what's happening in reality. Don't let your doctor rattle you about how fast you should be dropping weight. Focus instead on what you should be doing. Counting calories is a great way to teach yourself portion size and accountability. You won't have to do that forever, but its a great fall back plan if you are baffled about why you are experiencing slow or no weight loss. The world tells you that 2000 calories a day is okay and the "norm." You don't get that luxury anymore, maybe never. Your metabolism is in shambles, so is mine. You might only be burning 1600 calories a day even with exercise. Weight loss requires a caloric deficit so if you are eating 1000 calories give or take, then weight loss might only look like 1 lb gone in 6 days. That gives you a loss of 5 lbs a month. This sounds awful, but it really isn't! I'm not saying this stuff to upset you, or scare you, but rather to comfort and encourage you. You can and will succeed if you are patient with yourself and focus on the life long skill that you MUST learn from all this. It's a lovely balance of Portion Control, nutrition choices, activity and accountability. You got this! Cheers!

    Congrats on 60 pounds down!
Experiment with recipes. Even with splenda etc. You may find what works for your taste buds.
It's pretty hard to avoid the weight loss conversations. People will take notice that you have lost weight and are eating healthy. It's weird and uncomfortable that conversations seem to revolve around weight loss.
Thanksgiving doesn't have to be off limits. Their are healthy flavorful options if you want to stay on plan. (If you choose to indulge that's up to you)It felt amazing that Thanksgiving didn't revolve around food. I didn't feel overstuffed and guilty the next day.
These recipes are not wizard level. Lol - Make sure these fit your plan, calories and macros for the day.
Turkey French green Beans with sliced almonds and bacon ( option - leave out almonds to keep calories lower) Stuffing - Garlic roasted riced cauliflower, celery, onion, sour cream and alfreso sweet italian chicken sausage. (not the pre cooked ones) The type you remove the casing, brown in a pan crumbled Gingerbread hot cocoa: unsweetened cashew milk warmed, hershey's Sugar Free Chocolate Syrup, Davinci sugar free gingerbread syrup No bake pumpkin pie - Sugar free vanilla pudding, unsweetened cashew milk (vanilla Protein powder/shake optional) pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice - Use less milk/protein shake than instructed for a thicker consistency Cranberry pumpkin apple side dish - (This is seriously sweet. A small amount goes a long way) Peel and cube a sugar pumpkin and apple, Drizzle with sugar free maple syrup. Sprinkle with cinnamon and splenda to taste. Roast 400 degrees until soft and browned. add no sugar added dried cranberries. .

So I did not disclose why I was going out on leave from work. Just said I was having some stomach surgery/gastric issues. So, my coworkers just sent me a beautiful edible arrangement. That’s what I get for not sharing. Thank goodness it doesn’t have chocolate covered fruit or I would’ve cried. But the fruit looks lovely and delicious. Hubby and kids will enjoy. I did snag some pineapple to freeze later on for my Protein smoothies. I still want to bite into that fruit though! (Sigh)

For me, I don’t have a follow up until later this month. After my 1 year mark. I see my original surgeon on October 25th and the nutritionist, October 22nd. I was sleeved 10/17/17. When I started my weight loss journey 2 1/2 (1/1/16) years ago I was 350. I was 260 the day of surgery and of of my weight right now is 196.2 lbs. (Monday morning weigh in) Overall I am happy with my weight loss. I think I lost more in the way of inches than weight after the surgery. I was diabetic and stopped my meds 10/7/17 and haven’t needed them since. I was taken off 1 of my 2 high blood pressure pills and 1 of 2 high cholesterol meds. Some of my meds need a dosage change, and that will be from the blood work before I see the surgeon. I have had horrible reflux and it can be so horribly bad at times, but I had bad reflux before surgery. Before and now size 28 which in reality was probably a 32 (gotta be places like Lane Bryant and Woman Within, who have a very generous cut) to a size 16. Some a size 14. My only 3 issues is my boobs are gone, Mostly just skin now, my turkey neck and my belly button is wayyyy low and gets infected a lot from no air. There will always be issues but the good far out weighs the bad. The 1st set of 3 pics are 1, left at my highest, 350, 2nd one before surgery at 260, 3rd is new year 2018 at 225, and the other pic. Is now at 196 taken last week. I don’t even look or even feel like the same person.

I know this is an old post, but I wanted to thank you for sharing. I really REALLY needed to hear this right now in my journey. I was sleeved almost exactly 3 years ago. Everything was awesome for the first 18 months. I felt amazing, I got within 9 lbs of my goal weight by 12 months out. I was training for a 10K... then a lot of major life changes, as well. I'm a single mom. Have been for 11 years, so that part wasn't new, but I had my heart broken again in early 2017 (devastated, really), 2 changes of job/career in less than 10 months following that, problems with my teenagers, and a pretty major depression brought on by another heartbreak that I fought for the better part of 6 months recently. I turned to alcohol to numb myself since I couldn't turn to food and, as you can imagine, that did not go well for me. Tons of empty liquid calories and no motivation to exercise or eat right... when I did eat, it was small portions but I was losing the battle to get enough Protein and Water.
I don't list this as excuses, because I know I need to own my poor choices. And I want to start over.
I initially lost over 115 lbs and maintained in that range for nearly a year before it fell apart. I've gained back about 85 now.
I have been beating myself over it and hoping that its not too late to turn the ship around. I still have the tools... Thank you for letting me know its not out of my reach.
I'm trying to get back to basics this week with protein and water... and also am 1 day alcohol free (which doesn't sound like much yet, but I'm motivated to keep going)

Hello everyone, I was sleeved on June 22, 2017 today my weight is 145.2, yesterday was my 1 year follow up apt with my surgeon weighing in at 146.6 I'm holding steady between 145 & 146 for the past month but i feel great just trying to enjoy my summer. I still drink my Premier Protein in the morning and afternoon anything else has to have a least 5 g of Protein per for me to even consider to put in my mouth. I still have a hard time eating chicken, eggs no fruit and very little vegetables and i get sick if try to eat any type of cake or ice cream and yogurt i love as long as the sugar content is lower than 10 g. I have cut out all refind sugar and the carbs i eat if it's included with my protein which i try to keep no more than 50 g or less. Exercise 30 minutes a day walking and cardio 1 hour 3 to 4 time a week,
