While working on an appeal to the Office of Personnel Management for someone denied a conversion of an LAGB to VSG, I noticed a very significant change that may help anyone who is going to be covered in 2019 under the Federal Employees Benefit Plan (FEP). For many years their criteria for surgery used to require a TWO-YEAR history of morbid obesity. That is changing to ONE YEAR. That is a big deal and might be very important for many folks covered under the FEP plans. Here's what they say about the change:
"We now provide bariatric surgery benefits for members who have a diagnosis of morbid obesity for a period of 1 year prior to surgery. Previously, the requirement was a diagnosis of morbid obesity 2 years prior to surgery. (See page 69.)"
This is a important for anyone who cannot prove they meet the BMI criteria for two years regardless of whether they are (a) trying to get FEP to approve their first surgery OR (b) anyone seeking a revision / conversion for reasons other than a "complication" related to their original surgery. I started this journey having 288 pounds to lose, and, as of today's weigh in, I now have less than 100 pounds to lose to get to goal! I'm very happy!

I had the SAME feeling when I was finally able to find back into my VS bras! HUGE victory!
All the same items as Misouri-Lee's Summit above, including the sentiment that I don't like snug fitting clothing anymore. But, my most recent NSV was to go into a clothing store and buy NORMAL size clothes, not a size with a "W" behind it. I nearly cried at that one.

Do you know when the last time was that I saw a display on a scale that DIDN'T have the number "2" in it?

And great idea for a thread - I was beginning to feel a little out of place, not a newbie but not a vet.

Lol OMG, I was hooked on My 600 lb Life also. It's too soon after my surgery to say if I'll give it up for good but not sure it will be the same now.

These helped me along the way.

Last night I went to a department store, to the Normal Human Woman section, to the FANCY part, and I bought a cocktail dress for the work holiday party. It’s a size 14 sheath covered in beads and the fabric has no give in it at all, and it fits like a glove. I have never, ever been able to try on a real embellished dress like this without giving off strong mother-of-the-bride vibes - when you’re heavy, they cut the fabric for apple shapes and put on insane flourishes. I’ve always had to pick out my nicest work dress and just hype it with makeup, hair and more sparkly jewelry.
This dress looks amazing. I genuinely can’t wait for my coworkers (some of whom don’t see me for months at a time) to see me in a style they’ve never, ever seen me in before.

Wow. So picking the photos for this... I don’t even recognize me 😮😮! First is around my heaviest, about two years prior to surgery. Second is 6 weeks pre-op. Last is yesterday, about 4.5 months post-op... trying on my dress for a film noir party!

Starting 7 days of MACAW (Meat and cheese and Wholefoood).
Plus three runs to total 15 miles, and three strength sessions with a weight step up in one each of leg, arm and core exercises. Monday (tomorrow) disappears into the magical ether of international flights so that can’t be a strength training day - but I will count it for zero carbs 😂🤣😂
Health week!

Hi all! I just wanted to share this huge accomplishment! I am almost 7 weeks post op and down 31 pounds! Which means I finally hit ONEderland! I was hoping to get there by the end of the year thanks to my last stall. But O started IF of 16:8 and the stall broke! The weight just fell off like crazy... thank goodness! Let me tell you, between hitting this huge goal (for me), and finishing my Christmas shopping, I'm really in the spirit and looking forward to a great Christmas!

At my 6 month mark. I was up to 310 in May and today broke 215! You can all do it!! Tried to post in the gallery but it won't give me the option to

Well at this point I myself am not Fishing for Compliments, merely Hunting for Hope. Fix my stomal stricture, open operation if necessary, just repair me so I can be like other RnY veterans, brighten up my days and I will renew my Compliment Fishing License for the rest of my lifetime, And that is an iron-clad promise!**!

At first, I couldn't see the changes when looking in the mirror but after finding this old picture of me at my very heaviest, I can definitely see a change!
