Keeping a pool...even a little above ground one...is a lot of exercise. Not just the swimming, but the constant care involved, cleaning, chemicals, etc. LOTS of trips to the pool, even when you're not swimming.
Keeping a garden is the same kinda thing. Lots of weeding, watering, stuff to keep you moving.
    I keep both:)

Stuff I do to get more movement:
    1. New rule in my life...if I'm watching a show and a commercial comes on? I have to walk.
    2. New rule in my life...any time i'm on the phone, I need to be on my feet. I walk the whole time i'm talking. If it's for business, I carry my notes with me. If it's friends/family, I walk around my yard while talking.
    3. When I wake up (with my fitbit on as usual), I make my coffee, do some dishes, take trash out, start laundry, and don't sit down until I have at least 2000 steps. Great way to start the day ahead of the game, and I'm usually half asleep while doing this...so I don't even feel it. LOL:)
    4. I ride my bike to the mailbox everyday (it's a quarter mile from my house). Most days, I ride to the end of the road (about two miles) before grabbing the mail. Yep, I live in the middle of nowhere. Lotta land.
    5. I mow a big portion of my lawn by hand with a push mower. Cracks me up to see people pay for a gym membership and then get on their riding lawn mower. LOL. Mowing lawns is an AWESOME workout. My hubby is thrilled I've picked up this habit:) Lawns are always done for the weekend.
Anyone else have a few active lifestyle tips?

Seriously thinking of canceling rny . My surgeons office said that I could get complication insurance when I first was quoted fees. I got a call friday saying that they made a mistake and said revisions were not eligible. If any major complications that occur will be out of my pocket. This could ruin me financially.

Great thread!! Love it. Can't wait to start my journey and unleash my inner self I once was. Hiding from going places where I'm afraid to run into people I know and the current comments " Wow, you look great!"
yeah right! I know what they're thinking. LOL!!

I still look in the mirror (down 170 lbs) and think who the hell is that skinny b***h?
I panic over food. I don't crave anything anymore, though. I still wonder if I'll break a chair if I sit in it. It a very bizarre feeling to be thin after all this time.

I feel amazing. In all the ways everyone has already posted about but especially self confidence and in general just being a stronger person not worrying about “it all”

I still obsess with diet - I think we have to or end up right back where we were. This “magic” of the wls is work from the get go but as time passes the pendulum swings to more of our own accountability toward what we have learned as our new lifestyle of eating healthier and in portions that are appropriate . At this stage we need to follow those new found / learned rules so yea, for me - diet will be something I focus on for the long haul.

It’s a completely amazing and transformational journey both physically and emotionally.

    Good luck to you!

I might be the only one willing to talk about it, but it’s mentally challenging too. It’s not all rainbows and butterflies when you get close to goal. I have a hard time as seeing myself as healthy/thinned. I still very much feel like the fat kid sometimes. Also the “old me” sometimes tries to come back and say “yeah totally go get that Sonic sandwich” and crap like that. Is it better, yes. Is it easier, not in every aspect of life. But that’s just my two cents. I’m young , I have a lot of time to reconcile my feelings about it all 😂

I'm not thin, nor do I want to be thin
I am, however at a very healthy weight and my body fat is under 28%...which is perfect for me.
I am a muscular, fit, strong force to be reckoned with.
I run again, ride my mountain bike, landscape, kayak, rock climb and am having a hell of a lot of fun:)
Best part is to be off all my meds (save thyroid) and have perfect labs.
My diet is extremely different, but it's awesome and it makes me feel really good. I don't feel deprived and I splurge on treats in tightly controlled moderation. I exercise A LOT...I do fun stuff and it makes me feel really good:)
It's worth it. And it's wonderful:)

I feel like the person I used to be before my weight gain, like the person I always was on the inside is showing on the outside again.
Physically, I can do more, faster, and with less effort. I have less aches and pains. I still can't believe it's me when I pass by a reflective window or mirror. I want to stop and stare but I know how weird that would look, lol.
I wonder how it feels to a person who has always been thin, because I keep thinking of myself as "normal" now, and it makes me sad to think that I ever thought of myself as less worthy because of my weight. We are our own worst critics.
I still obsess about diet and exercise. I have to, because it would be so easy to revert to old habits. I'm sure the people around me are sick of hearing about it! I need to find some groups that want to exercise and do active things as a form of socializing instead of going out to eat.

Only 13 weeks post OP so here is my take at this point. My health issues are all resolved! No diabetes, no High Blood Pressure, NO Kidney Disease! I do not dread flying for my job now as I fit in the seat and even if a larger person is sitting next to me it's not a problem! Before this was a problem. I am still in the honeymoon phase but I do not miss food and do not have hunger! I am not looking forward to when/if I regain my hunger. That was the most strange thing for me to get used to. Eating was and is a chore with no hunger to let you know it is time to eat. LOL. Also getting to know the "tells" that your body lets you know when it is time to stop eating are interesting. I either get small burps, hiccups, or my nose starts running. It is all good as of now, but I am somewhat obsessed with my diet and exercise. Good Luck!

fluffy562 got a reaction from Frustr8 in How do you tells others about your transformations.
@JessiG I'm having the same issue. So I have a story in mind that I am going to tell my clients and others. Everyone in my life knows I have struggled and am always trying some sort of diet. most every0ne knows I also suffer from joint pain and high blood pressure, etc. I don't lie well and I HATE lying but here is my story:
my surgery is August 23 and I'm starting to let people know that after my last summer trip I've decided to join Lindora weight loss center ( it's a place I've done before ) so I know how the program works and I can answer questions. pretty much Keto diet, but you have to be accountable everyday by going in and weighing yourself and pee on a stick to see if your body is in Ketois. then you get a "B12" shot ( which I'm not sure that is really what it is) LOL.
Preparing my friends up front and letting them know that I'm taking a break from the social events for awhile so I CAN get on track without distractions and if they are my friends and clients they will understand and be supportive.
Again, this is my story. whether it works or not... I shall see.
Good luck. I'm in the same boat as well.

Thanks everyone. I am taking everything in to consideration. BarrySue hit it on the nose. my oldest teen can respect PRIVACY my younger one not so much. This is the challenge we are having with our 13 year old. Can't seem to keep it to himself and this isn't something I need for him to tell others. My journey and my story to tell or not tell.
Only peeps I want to know is my mother, husband and best friend. My husband and I planned the surgery around his annual trip he takes with our boys and he will be gone for a week with them the day I have the surgery and my mother will be here to help me. That why I questioned if I should even tell them really. Anyone who has boys especially teenagers, know they are oblivious to anything around them that doesn't suit them. For me to be on a liquid diet wouldn't phase then cause I'm always on some sort of diet.
    But again, Thank you.
I truly am excited for this next part of my life. I enjoy reading through site and journeys.

fluffy562 got a reaction from Frustr8 in Pre-op diet question. Please help!
I guess every surgeon is different when it comes to pre-op diets. My surgeon only recommends liquid diet the day before surgery. I'm going to ask him when I go to my pre-0p appointment why that is?
