  1. Hi. Chell - it’s an off and on thing. If I go too long without pain meds and having walked more than I can handle I go into terrible pain but nothing like I was when I had to go back to the hospital. They think I’ll be discharged again tomorrow as long as pain is under control with this Vicodin instead of the norco they gave me before. I only passed a stool once but I’ve had gas a little since then when I’d go to the bathroom so it’s more progress than before. They said it was ileus or however you spell it - when you get backed up because your intestines stay asleep longer than intended so when I’d eat or drink fluids it kept compressing on my stomach and expanding and not moving anywhere. Has me terrified of it happening again but I think gas happening is a good sign. Thanks for asking how r things on your end ?
  2. Me three - gastric bypass here
  3. Thank you Marisol - and congratulations on your upcoming surgery as well. I do feel about 30% better since I was able to pass a bowl movement but still very sore and scared that my bowels will stop again (words can’t even explain the pain from that). I’m hoping it happens again soon as like a reassurance it’s all still working right after the suppository though everyone says it should be and I just don’t have food in there right now. I’m trying to work on some yogurt right now but I get so full after like a couple bites.
  4. Thank you everyone - so far the x rays and ct scans showed no leaks and that my bowels were still basically like in a coma they said - I got a suppository and two hours later finally got to go #2. Except now when I leave the bathroom by the time I walk back to my hospital bed I gotta run back and go some more . I still hurt like hell... but I’m hoping this is a start in the right direction.
  5. This is the hospital and location I’m currently at. Post op rooms are on 7th floor, usually share with a roommate :/
  6. Thank you guys - it means a lot to me to have you & others’ support through this. The main theory going around is that my bowels “fell asleep” and aren’t waking up I guess, so sometime later today the surgeons team is gonna review my scans and figure out where to go from there I guess.
  7. I’m really struggling guys had my surgery Friday at 7:30am and things went well at first. Pain wasn’t too bad and by Sat I was able to keep down some water and a 6oz bowl of broth and a protein shake before they released me. a few hours later I went to the closest ER (my surgeons hospital was almost an hour away) because of extreme unbearable pain in my stomach and lower back beyond what trying to walk around and take gas relief medicines would help. And I still had a suture that kept bleeding a little and oozing but the whole suture wasn’t split so they weren’t too worried. The ER by my house did nothing and sent me home. Few more hours later (now Sunday midday) the pain traveled through the whole middle of my back, I couldn’t stand up straight without being in excruciating pain, couldn’t breathe without the same, and had zero relief from anything whatsoever. I took an Uber to my surgeons hospital ASAP. Here so far they’ve done an X-ray and a c t scan and are keeping me back on pain meds but those are starting to not be as effective slowly and the pain is easily a 10+ unbearable. They did admit me again and said I shouldn’t have been discharged in so much pain but this amount of pain wasn’t there at the time so I don’t know. Im not going to rush anything I’m just going to stay as long as they allow me / as long as I need to. If there’s something going wrong then I hope they find out and fix it. IF this is all just an adverse terrible reaction to not passing bowl then please god keep me until I do. I don’t wanna come off as complaining - I just don’t want to feel alone right now I have a few of you I’ve connected with and message and I appreciate each and every one if you on this forum as we’re all sisters and brothers in a way many aren’t and it means the world to me. I’m just struggling has anyone else had similar situations and what was the outcome or resolution ?
  8. Random post op question. I don’t have sleep apnea and I just had my surgery Friday morning at 7:30am. It’s now Saturday morning and I’m trying to fall asleep (I’m SO tired), and every time I doze off for a moment I wake up to a somewhat deep breath and it wakes me up. It’s driving me nuts ? anyone else experience this ?
  9. As far as nausea goes, I had it maybe the first day of my liquid diet or so but that's about it. Except today...I did a bad thing and took the smallest taste of my son's eggs i made this morning for him (like, not even a fork full..my first legit cheat, but it was hardly any consumption, I just missed taste other than liquid lol) and it tasted like crap (weirdly enough), and now i feel nauseous.
  10. Do you find it's more comfortable laying down in a bed or sitting in a recliner? My surgery is Friday ...so I'm curious where I might find myself sleeping when I come home lol.
  11. I need to start using the web on my phone when I'm using my phone to check this site instead of the app...for some reason the app doesn't give you an option to quote, but maybe only the website does.
  12. I have my bad days and my ok days lol today wasn't so bad. I was actually not hungry as much as normal when it was time to "drink" my meal again, lol. I have to learn to stop weighing myself every single morning though. It'll drive you nuts! I lost 9lbs between day 1 and day 6, gained 2 on day 7, and lost another 1.8 or so where im at now. So I'm basically back at the 9lbs or so I was at beforehand, and thinking omg what if that means I won't lose as much afterwards and so forth but I know it's just my anxiety messing with me lol. As for cravings...i hate facebook and commercials. literally EVERYTHING, even stuff I never ate, looks amazing. Like I never ate fast food but let me tell you, my son had some white castle today and holey crap did those "terribly bad for you" chicken rings he got look like a steak and lobster dinner, haha. I don't miss my coffee like I thought I would, but I'd devour some shrimp or a big turkey sandwich right about now. When i think about some foods I swear I can literally taste it in my mouth. Like...hawaiian rolls... probably a big "no no" but man, those were good. I just miss food period, lmao. Cant wait for puree stage! Man I miss eggs. Thank god it's almost over lol. I'm sure the broth and other full liquids we can "eat" after is going to taste like heaven made it.
  13. Only a few more days left for me, too! OMG it won't get here soon enough lol
  14. Good luck on your surgery! Mine's coming up next week too. I'm on day 7 of the diet and it's not as bad as it once was. When I see food I know tastes good, though, im like "damn, you look delicious, I miss you.." but I don't eat it. I know there's a light at the end of the tunnel. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't dying for an espresso from Starbucks and a big, juicy steak right about now lol
  15. I'm so glad to have found this site. As I'm sure all of you know, this is such a journey full of literally every emotion all at once and sometimes one can feel alone at times going through the process like I do, at times. Finding somewhere to talk to everyone about my own personal journey where there is no judgment and nothing but support is priceless. Many of my visits at the bariatric weight control center urged me to try out their in-person support groups, and I definitely would go if it wasn't over an hour away from my house as it is - and all of you guys have been amazing at being a support group and, even though I'm still new here, I want to thank you all. I've seen nothing but positive comments and feedback from everyone so far. Ever since I knew I was taking this journey I've become almost obsessed with watching testimonials on youtube and reading success stories that I felt like I was part of almost a sisterhood/brotherhood/family of people (sounds silly, I'm sure lol). But it's true - everyone here will know at least in some way, shape, or form what we're each going through and that's a very awesome thing to be part of a community of. I do have a boyfriend who is supportive of my decision, but much of this process I feel he is not understanding of and I will even be at the hospital alone because he will have to be home watching my son before surgery and after and knowing I Have you guys to reach out to helps a lot. I rambled, I do that sometimes lol. Maybe it's because I'm emotional, or I've had my last cup of coffee (I'm giving it up a few days before my pre op diet begins, to get a head start), but thank you all for being totally awesome
  16. Yeah - my dietician wanted me to start it 2 weeks prior to surgery. At least I have a fairly decent diet though. I have to have 4 meal replacement shakes a day (HMR 70) and a lean Bariatric style dinner (similar to what they sell on this site) and 64oz of water a day. Sounds easy enough but maaaaan will I miss my coffee lol. I gave it up 3 months ago for about a month then I fell back and had a cup here and there. But on early work mornings like today is when I’ll really miss it the most.
  17. Nice Jul! We're surgery twins!! Emotions wise, I feel like literally every emotion that exists I feel most of the time (lol). I'm excited, nervous, worried, happy, anxious, and extremely curious what my own results will end up being etc all in one. But this week has been interesting - I keep seeing different foods going "goodbye, chicken wing"... "goodbye cup of coffee". lol. Pre op diet time is almost here I have to start mine on Friday.
  18. @BadWolf523 & @Malcy - good luck! We're here for you @Frustr8 haha , you're close enough to be an honorary August buddy with us in my opinion
  19. Ooh hi, we're close to surgery twins! Mine's scheduled for the 17th
  20. I literally just got my date today!! August 17th!! I'd be doing cartwheels if I could right now, lol
