I have been doing 1/2 a lemon in 12 oz of Water every night 30 min after after my meals . 1/2 a cucumber in 4 cups should be fine . Drink as much of this water as u can if ur in a stall and spike your cardio
that seems to do it for me

Gosh I am so sorry u r going through this . It is a hard journey and we all have to make choices . Maybe it helps to just make a choice to eat right and exercise for that day and not future trip . One day becomes a week, a month , a year . When I did my surgery I made an agreement to myself that I had given in to my impulses for 57 years and I was going to change . I haven’t been 100% perfect but I think it’s what U do 98% of the time . Good luck

Lolo 2020 reacted to GassyGurl in Gastric sleeve Self pay...Any recommendation?
I paid $9000 in Ft Lauderdale with Bariatrix, FL. Most places I talked to in the US do not include preop testing. I had to have ekg, bloodwork and a psych consult, but my insurance covered all of that. My experience was wonderful.

Dr Taggar and Dr Wizman are part of Bariatrix, FL. Dr shillingford is also at the same hospital and has a great self pay price.

Dr Umbach at Blossom bariatrics in Las Vegas also has a great self pay program.

All of these will probably require a hotel room either for your companion, or a night before/after. If you truly want all inclusive, look into Mexico. At first, it sounds scary, but once you review testimonials it sounds better than the US. Plus, preop testing and hotels are normally included. Overall, it's a great option.

    Dear Getback,
You are the answer to my prayers as I have been trying to find a forum or advice column to answer the same question! I knew from the get go that my weight problem was more in my head than in my stomach. And I really debated about having the surgery because I worried that I might go back to my old habits of grazing & having no control over carbs (especially sweets). Nothing ever stopped me before but I figured the fear of vomiting if I overate and having a greatly restricted stomach size would be the catalysts to finally help me take off the 100 pounds I needed to lose.
The first three months after surgery were great. I lost 40 pounds, watched everything I ate, and generally did everything right. But slowly, I began to add things back into my diet - especially carbs. I had no problems with any foods except bread because I ate too fast & it got stuck. And I learned that, if I got full fast, I just had to wait an hour & I could eat again!
So, of course, I was right. It was never about my stomach, it’s about my head. And the reasons I eat & the fact that I cannot pay attention or be that mindful to ANYTHING long enough to make it a habit. I really believe that I have Attention Deficit Disorder - it wasn’t “invented” when I was a kid! But I have every symptom & sticking to just eating high Protein, small portions meant a lot of planning. I don’t think I’ll ever get that back again.
And yes, I can blame a lot of this on the surgery coinciding with the most stressful times of my life ever - taking care of my elderly parents & having to put them in assisted living & the death of my oldest brother by heroin overdose. A job promotion & much more responsibility along with losing a friend because of the promotion, parents in & out of the hospital & being the only adult child around who could “handle” everything - the past two years have been a nightmare. And I thought having surgery would make me healthier to be able to handle taking care of everyone else. It did for a while but no more.
Okay, TMI & I’m not really answering your question but what I have decided to do is go to an Overeaters Anonymous meeting & try & find someone for counseling as my Physicians Assistant recommended. I don’t have a lot of hope right now because I feel like I’m right back where I started from but I just can’t give up because those first few months were so good & I felt so great being able to fit in smaller clothes for the first time in 31 years. I had such hope. I wonder every day if I’ll ever get it back again.
I hope you can find the strength & solution to get back on the journey of taking care of you! I will keep you posted. And if you find any good advice anywhere, let me know!

I am 5’9 with size 12 feet , and started at 238 with a bmi of 35. Am 189 now and the skinniest I ever was as an adult was 168. Shooting for. That, maybe a little lower for a 25 BMI. We shall see , already some excess skin..

Lolo 2020 got a reaction from Stephy0618 in 6 days post-op and hungry??????
So I woke up 4 days after surgery ready to eat my arm ! This after having no interest for the previous days . It is just ur stomach waking up . I did cottage cheese, yogurt and Soup and what really has helped (and I am now 7 weeks out ) is having a smoothie in the am with unsweetened almond milk(30 cal) Protein Powder and 1/2 of a banana that is sliced and frozen . Bananas really help to get that full but not overly stuffed feeling so I can go off and exercise . Ur sleeve will work when u eat real food but I found that during the liquid and purée phase I was more hungry more often because they just slid through quickly . I was easily eating 800 calories but then had a hard time getting over 500 with real food . Parameters from my doc are 600-800 cal, over 60g of Protein and under 60g of carb . Avoid sugar . I am exercising a lot lately and getting 800-1000 now , but till losing (when I drink enough Water )
  8. Thanks

No coincidence , drinking Water makes all the difference . Lemon water is a big help as a diuretic.

I think at some level all of us are emotional/binge eaters . U don’t get obese without pushing ur limits past actual hunger . I am an advocate of the sleeve, did it in December and lost 60lbs in 2 months . Still 20 to go but the surgery has been life changing . Even when I have “head hunger” I can’t overeat and you quickly learn to eat slow and wisely . Best thing I ever did for myself , I feel like I was released from prison through this surgery . I was about a 35 BMI. Good luck and go for it !

I am down 45 lbs in just 2 months after having sleeve surgery . It’s been pretty steady with occasional stalls. My appetite is non existent as long as I get my Protein in . I work out a lot and am able to do all I need to on 800 calories a day . I stick with at least one Protein Drink a day to ensure I get enough protein .

Hi, I did the sleeve on 12-12-18 and just hit the 50 pound mark on Valentines... I couldn’t be happier! I started at 337 and currently I’m at 285. For me, the weight keeps coming off. I walk about 1.5 miles 4 days a week and eat about 4 (very) small meals per day. Best decision I’ve ever made.
PS - and this is full disclosure...my first two weeks I kept thinking I had made the wrong decision bc it was hardddddd! Once I got over the four week mark it all became a bit easier.

    Good luck!

I am very active , spin and yoga , and ride my horse in 3 day events which include cross country jumping . At 238lbs my poor mare and I could not make the time and my fiancé told me last May I was the fattest person riding . I said enough and headed to the doctor . Sleeved in December , in 190’s and floating down to hopefully the 160’s as goal . Best thing I ever did !

I am also so sorry you are struggling, we all know and feel for you, it is a battle. Perhaps be a little nicer to yourself, after all you must have done some things right! You lost 50 + Lbs! Maybe just breaking it down so it is a bit more manageable. Set your daily goals and start each day a new and don’t beat yourself up if you aren’t perfect. Personally i aim to get my steps in every day, but at one month out i had a bad cold and could barely get out of bed, so little if any steps that day! I try to plan my meals, my liquid , my exercise out a week, but do take it day by day, realizing it is a marathon , not a sprint. Sometimes i am ravenous too! But the good news is that a few tablespoons of food fill me up. Are you working with a nutritionist? Maybe that will help with hunger, also a personal trainer to get you motivated to move? I’ve spoken to a lot of thin people and no one wants to work out, they just view exercise and eating right as a daily chore, rather like brushing your teeth. No on wants to brush their teeth, but they do it because they need to. Perhaps approach your daily food and exercise intake the same? I am doing that, or trying to... seems to work. Just don’t give up on yourself!
