  1. 70 lbs in 8 months is fabulous ! Congratulations!
  2. No but I would call ur doctor , that type of pain 2 weeks out is a bit suspect in my view
  3. They say that there are lots of stalls as the body accumulates water , then releases the fat with the water , sometimes even gains before losses . Don’t get discouraged !
  4. Omg I wouldn’t call this easy . Hoping post surgery day 5 let’s me at least drink a little . I am still on clear liquids and managed to get some diet jello down . Otherwise it’s water and broth and a little Isopure tropical fruit punch . Honestly my friend who did this said do not push to eat anything or move too quickly from phase to phase . She said the quickest weight loss is in the first 30 days , then a bit slower 30-60 days , then it really really slows down .
  5. Where did u get the bariatric lasagne recipe ?
  6. No food related, not elastics LOL
  7. Liquid Tylenol is ur best friend for those headaches which can be no food elastics I’ve found . I also do a dose before bed for general pain and sleeping assistance
  8. 2 oz of warm chicken broth is my new best friend I really don’t care about eating or drinking but know I have to get 64oz of liquid in today . Left hospital yesterday and that big vitamin IV bag will start to dissipate in my system by Monday . Don’t want to go the dehydration route
  9. Keep it going - I did liquids in the day with a little protein at night and then was scrupulous liquid the last 3 days before surgery . My stomach was Concave on day of surgery . I still lost 8 lbs in the 2 weeks . Just did surgery and dr was very pleased with prep, said it helped surgery and recovery tremendously. No one really spoke about that on here , maybe cuz they divide pre op and post op .i had surgery Thursday and the nurses were amazed at how much I could do one day out . I am on day 3 and feel ok but very tender . Hopefully this motivates you !! Good luck !
  10. Just discharged , can’t even look at or think of food my stomach is so sore
  11. Had my surgery yesterday . Waiting on Leak test before can start liquids . Supeisingly the whole thing has not been bad
  12. So helpful ! I am getting sleeved this am, heading to the hospital soon. My doctor didn’t have me do the magnesium citrate - I’ve been doing a “mostly” all protein shake diet for the last 2 weeks. Am pretty used to not eating at this point !
  13. I have a friend who went though the surgery and started to experience weight gain on only 1400 calories a day . She started working with a very good Nutritiomist and physiologist and started dropping weight while eating 2000 calories a day . She works out differently , heavier weight workouts versus cardio and eats some really different protein rich things
  14. Surgery tomorrow !? it’s finally here!?
  15. So glad to hear someone else researched this to death as well . I, too, agreed that after years of yo yo dieting , my appetite thermostat is broken and this seems a plausible way to reset it . I am worried when I hear that people have regained their weight but I think you can if you are not mindful of what goes in your mouth and how much you move . When is your surgery ?
  16. I’ve told a lot of people and so many people have friends and family who have done it , have heard many interesting stories. My mother , who is 5’3 and 122 lbs at 82 was skeptical and both she and my father questioned why I “couldn’t just stick to a diet”. But when I explained about the hormonal result of so many years of yo yo dieting and the fact the surgery reduces what is Probably an over abundance of lepton and ghrelin, they got it and became supportive
  17. I am being sleeved on the 20th ! I would love to join chat group as well!
  18. I am getting ready for surgery Thursday , a little scared but excited to start a new life
  19. I use the pure protein canned shakes , they are the best ! I also sometimes use the pure protein powder with 1 cup of almond milk and some peanut butter protein powder and half a frozen Banana . Delicious !
  20. I have to have a hiatal hernia repaired as well
  21. Omg my date is the 20 th and these posts make me nervous will it be really really awful ?
  22. I am on day 5 of pre op and it hasn’t been awful . I do 3 protein shakes but one of them I do from powder in the blender with almond milk nd half a frozen banana and a few frozen berries for variety . Fish or chicken and veggies for diet jello for dessert . Staying busy and out of the house helps . Also working out and spinning .. 9 more days for me and next week I will try all liquids.. down 3 lbs so that is motivating !
  23. I am on day 1 and honestly it wasn’t bad , I drink “pure protein” brand shakes(Trader Joe’s)and they really kill any hunger pangs . 3 shakes in the day and a piece of fish and broccoli at night with some diet jello . My dr wants me to do all liquid but I know plenty of people who have done no pre op diet and done just fine .
  24. I am scheduled to start pre op diet tomorrow since surgery is 12/20. I have many friends who have done the surgery and their doctor did not require this 2 week liquids since they said it doesn’t really matter and was torture . I plan to do at least a week but 2 weeks is really disruptive .. any thoughts on this ?
  25. I struggled with the same issues , and was embarrassed at first, but ultimately ended up blabbing about the surgery to everyone . My parents and old college friend had been the most against it- but when I explained the technical reasons why dieting doesn’t work and hasn’t worked for me, and how important it was to me to be healthy and active , they all became very supportive . My fiancé is concerned we won’t eat and drink together anymore , but I have just said o will be eating like all the other skinny girls and what I put in my mouth is nobody’s business but mine !!! This is a great tool and a lifesaving surgery for many - being scared is normal but take a deep breath and a month from now I think we all will be so happy ! I am scheduled for dec 20!
