Water on Hot Days
Hi Nykee ~ I drink tons of Water in the summer too and I'm with you on the concerns. At least I'm glad to hear the words of wisdom from others that it shouldn't be a problem. There are times I can chug an entire 16 oz bottle of water. :rolleyes I will just take it as it comes and drink, drink, drink. I'm getting spring fever as well. I live in IN and it has rained most of the winter and now it decides to get cold. I'm ready for the warm weather so my boys can go outside. I've read you have kids, so I know you can relate. :phanvan Take care and think "warm thoughts".

This is my last unbanded Thursday...
Wheestin ~ I recently had to wear a heart monitor for 24 hrs and the nurse told me if I had sticky stuff from the tape, I could rub some regular cooking oil on it and then rub gently with a wet washcloth.....perhaps this would be an option for you to get rid of that stuff. ~Good Luck~

I DID IT!!!! Self Pay
Congratulations loube910 on your new band and the weight loss!! :clap2: Insurance can sure be a big hurdle and all the hoops you jump through seem overwhelming. So glad you were able to go forward and do the self pay....I'm not sure I would be able to do that. Take care of youself and I hope you feel better very soon.

Hi I am home from the hospital!
Congratulations! :clap2: I'm sorry to hear about your horrible gas and that you have had to deal with the anxiety of the barium swallow. I would feel the same way. I can't answer your questions b/c I'm preband, but do want to wish you a speedy recovery!!

This is my last unbanded Thursday...
Hi Wheetsin ~ I am so thrilled for you that I just took a deep breath when I read this is your LAST Thurs unbanded! :faint: What a reality check. Preband is a long journey for some and I can't wait to get my date, which will probably be at least 2 mos or so. I wish you the very best and let us know what emotions you are going through. I know everyone is different, but I love to hear how people deal with these things. :gluck:

What Dr. Phill Said
Oh Dana, please call you OB or your PCP about your hormones. Having babies can take it's toll on your body. Bless you heart, 3 babies in 4 yrs, you are entitled to a little sanity!! I can say that from experience b/c I had 2 within 16 mos and nursed both of them so, for 3 yrs I was either pregnant or nursing. I tried to deal with it myself, but was so glad when I finally went to my OB and he said I had PPD. The antidepressants made all the difference and I was able to enjoy my family in a way I wasn't able to b4. It was always a struggle prior to that. My hats off to you for taking on such a brave task and doing it well no doubt!! :clap2:

Does it matter if all the paperwork goes to insurance at the same time?
Hi Mona~Thanks for the encouragement. I did call NGS and they have rec'vd my letter of PreD. I told her I was concerned about the other info making to the right place and she said she would make a note. Well, today she was kind enough to call me back to let me know she talked to that dept and they are watching for the rest of my paperwork. She also said she made a mistake yesterday when she said they have a 30 day turnaround time.....it's only 7-14 days...YEAH!! :clap2: I told her she made my day just by knowing that info and thanked her for taking time to call me. Wasn't that the most thoughtful thing? At this point, I'm really impressed with NGS American insurance. Most people would die b4 calling a member with that info. Great idea on the certified or registered mail!! :clap2: That is really super advice. I have no idea how they sent it, but I will request that in the future. Now for the waiting.....the worst part of this whole process. You hang in there too and let me know when you hear something!!! Thanks again!!!

Water on Hot Days
We are getting tickets to the Brickyard 400 on Aug 6 and realizing I will be banded by then, I got a little scared that I won't be able to drink enough water while out in the hot sun. :couch2: For those of you that have experienced this, how do you get enough water on a hot summer day? Is there a chance I'll get dehydrated?

What Dr. Phill Said
Hi Dana ~ I love Dr Phil and I can remember exactly when I started overeating....when I split with my fiancé. I started for one reason and continued for another. food is my comfort, it makes me feel good and it's my best friend. :rolleyes I really didn't realize how much until I went on the Optifast program last year (which didn't stick b/c now I'm getting the band) and the biggest thing I took away from that was how much I was actually "addicted" to food. Dr. Phil also says something that gives me hope. Again, paraphrasing ....You never break bad habits, but you can replace them with new ones. Perhaps you should talk to you PCP about your emotions b/c you don't have to feel sad or hopeless to benefit from antidepressants. I felt very irritated all the time and never had feelings of sadness....I was just mad at the world....my poor husband. :phanvan I think you are on the nose when you say overeating can have something to do with a chemical imbalance. That's not true for everyone, but it's true for me, with or without antidepressants. I took Vicoden this past Nov after a car accident and I did experience a calmness that I would like to have more often....that stuff is goooood!! It also takes the pain away. ~Poodles~ Physical + Emotional = Psycho This was so funny that I laughed out loud and I totally agree!! :clap2:

LapBand Talk is Boring W/O Delarla
I agree....we could use more DeLarla.....you were the first post I ever read hear & my first thought was, I have to read more. :couch2: Needless to say, I became addicted to LBT. I love it when someone calls a spade and spade. Maybe that's why I love Tony Stewart! DeLarla, you add spice. :clap2: I also am drawn to those who are more diplomatic. I think you can learn from all if you open yourself up to new ideas.

Pre-banders unite!!!
Glad to hear you called. For me, it does me good just to know that my paperwork is there. Hopefully, you will get a quick turn-around time. I have NGS and they have 30 days. I will be calling them once a week. :welldone2: Hi Dutchgrl59...I can't believe that, but we are at the mercy of the insurance companies. You have a super attitude that is to be commended. :clap2: I am very impatient and want my band now. I am slowly but surely jumping the hoops so I don't miss anything. Even after I'm approved, assuming I won't need to use the apeal process, I will be waiting 2-3 mos :omg: for the surgery b/c they are that busy in Indy. I'm going to request to be put on a list if someone cancels. I talked to my DH and is willing to jump in the car and go when I give the word. I swear I would marry that man 100 times over.

coffee
Oh my....what would I give up first....chocolate or coffee? That would be a tough one. Keep in mind, I'm only referring to 1-2 hersey kisses and not the entire bag. I have not heard anything as of yet that I need to give up coffee, but I could go with green tea for awhile if I had to. Is green tea less acidic than coffee? I just discovered Folgers chocolate Silk coffee and have been drinking it like it's a dessert. :rolleyes I have gone from one cup of coffee a day to 3 or 4. I've become addicted to this new coffee in such a short period of time. Maybe I'll get tired of it by the time my surgery comes around.

Having Baby after lap band, a few questions
Hi JanW....Welcome to LBT!! I am new and can't answer your questions b/c I don't have the band yet (pending ins), but I would like to follow your developments. We plan to have more children after the band, so I want to learn from others that have gone b4. Bless you heart....the mother of 3 boys is to be commended...well any mother really. I have 2 boys ages 4 yrs & 3 yrs. They are 16 mos apart. I just know we will probably have another boy b/c of this curse my mother put on me growing up. I had 3 brothers and no sisters and hated boys!! God has a sense of humor that's for sure. I do want to wish you all the best with this pregnancy. :preggers: I can't advise you to get plenty of rest b/c I know that next to impossible. Regardless, take care and keep us posted on how your doing.

Happy Thread, Happy Thoughts!!!
My Letter of PreD has been rec'vd by my insurance company and I am ONE step closer to being banded!!! Yipee!!!

Pre-banders unite!!!
Congratulations to all of you that have a date...hats off to you! :yo: I never thought about a car accident, but you never know when you take to the road. ~Sorority ChiK~ I would highly recommend you call your insurance company without being a pest. I would want to make sure they have everything they need and it gives you the opportunity to follow-up if something is missing. Like I said, I plan on calling once a week and I also document every date, time, and person I talk to just for my personal reference.....a habit from my working days. ~nc_longhorn~ That is a terrible thing your dealing with and I can't believe they told you to stop calling. I take it you are approved and only waiting on a surgery date? What is physicians review? I'm not familiar with that. Wish I could help in some way. Maybe call and ask to speak to the office manager and calmly try to get some answers. Best of luck and I hope you get your date soon.....you've been waiting a long time in my book.

Pre-banders unite!!!
Super idea for a thread Sorority ChiK.:clap2: I want my band yesterday!! :ohwell: I think the Lord is teaching me patience b/c I only decided to get the band in early Jan and I know many people on here have waited much much longer. I am jealous too. I just called ins today and they confirmed they have rec'vd my Letter of PreD however, my other documents (psy eval, personal letter, & dr notes) were not sent out until yesterday. I am THRILLED to say the least that they do have the L of PD....I am one step closer....YEAH!!! :clap2: They have a 30 day turn-around time and I'll be calling every week to keep my file fresh in their minds. My biggest fear is not being able to drink the amount of Water I'm used to. I drink as least 6-7 bottles of water a day. I get thirsty b/c of sinus problems and worry that I'll be thirsty alot. Does anyone know why we can't drink w/meals? Does the liquid fill up the stomach and not allow enough food? Down deep I also fear the worst. I have two beautiful boys, ages 3 & 4, and the BEST husband in the world. I have prayed about the band & have peace with my decision, but I think it's natural to fear the possibility of death. That fear doesn't control me though b/c I'm full-speed ahead!! I WANT IT NOW!!!

What am I missing? Why are ppl leaving?
I am new here as well and ask for advice as well as try to offer advice/encouragement where I feel I can be of some help. I have completely stayed away from all of the friction (until I voiced my opinions yesterday) mainly b/c by the time I get done reading, I don't have time to post....I am the mother of 2 preschoolers. Also, I feel some of the threads were posted with good intentions, yet the tone changed and it developed into a war of sorts b/c I strongly feel there are a few that love to argue in order to fulfill a need to feel superior. I grew up with a brother like this and honestly, we are closer than I am with my other bothers....it does take time and patience to understand what people are trying to convey. What I can say that we learned from each other was that we DO have a responsibility to the perception of what we say not just what we say. Personally, I am a strong-willed person and needed to develop that personality to survive. I am opinionated at times, but I deeply care for the feelings of others and respect ALL voices and opinions. I don't always agree, but that's OK....I don't need to agree 100% with you to respect you. My son attends a christian school and they changed their sign yesterday to say: He who angers you, controls you. This was so profound to me b/c it sums it all up in one short sentence.

Two Dogs dumped at my house...
Be still my heart!! The boxer definitely looks like a Rocky. :boxing:And who could resist the those precious eyes they both have? My husband's motto is always, "I will save you" whenever we see a stray anywhere. We've brought a few home in our time. I sure hope Rocky is OK and hope his symptoms go away.....$155 is nothing to sneeze at especially since it was an unexpected expense. I have paid more in vet bills than I have ever paid for my kids b/c they have insurance. Last year our lab had surgery to the tune of $1500 right b4 Christmas to fix a torn ACL. I had people ask me why we don't just put her down. I couldn't believe it. I would get a loan for her b4 I would put her to sleep. :biggrin1: Thanks for the update and the pic. They are precious!!!

It's Time :-)
I have a lump in my throat and it makes me so sad to read this thread. Leatha_g we've never met and have never talked one-on-one, but I know how valuable you are to this site. I guess everything does have to change from time to time, but I hate to see people take off b/c of the "tone" that's been expressed within the last few weeks. I understand your reasoning for not wanting to surround yourself with "unacceptable behavior". I firmly believe that you teach people how to treat you and my perception is that you are saying that this will not be tolerated in your life........Good for you on taking that stand!! :clap2: However, don't forget us newbies that NEED your experience and the experience from other seasoned members. Knowledge is power and I came here to be empowered by those that have gone b4. I know you are a stong woman and will not make your decisions based on what I say, but do know that your wisdom can NEVER be replaced. Only YOU can provide that. Do what is best for you and perhaps you will come back very soon. :cry Like I said earlier, LBT is not the same place that I joined a few short weeks ago. I hate to see members dropping off and leaving when it seems that they are being pushed. Can someone get a hold on all of this and who is in charge? This is so VERY sad!

Does it matter if all the paperwork goes to insurance at the same time?
I have been putting together all my info needed for insurance and have been keeping in contact with my insurance coordinator at my surgeon's office. I thought she was holding off on my letter of predetermination until all paperwork was turned in. Now, I rec'vd an e-mail from her saying that the L of PreD was sent on the 2/8 and my personal letter, psy eval, and dr records were being sent today 2/20. :angry This makes me nervous b/c I don't trust that these documents will get to the proper place TOGETHER. What do you all think? Has anyone had this happen b4? Should I start calling NGS to let them know more info is on the way? I hope they won't just shoot back a "NO" b/c of lack of documentation. I've worked too hard on meeting every requirement and don't want this to be a kink in my chain. Any feedback is GREATLY appreciated!!! :help:

Lost my Neice, Karen.
My heart breaks for you and your family. We will lift all of you up in prayer and I hope you are able to find some answers. I cannot even imagine going through such a tragedy. Be strong together as a family....you need each other so much during this tragic time. ~GOD BLESS~
