He thought i might have a stricture but then said could be still swollen (2 weeks ago) Vomit stopped now it’s back again. I think I’m doing something wrong but I’d rather be safe than sorry

Thank you all for responding! I don’t throw up every meal seems to be more at dinner time and i think they maybe when I’m the hungriest. But i notice the burping or gargling. I never thought that was a sign but now I will be more mindful.

Chew chew chew. When I start to get full I will burp a couple of times. When I didn't know any better and kept eating it felt like food was stuck and it would take 15-20 min to go away. Now I stop in the burp lol

I had gastric bypass. For the first 4 weeks I was on full liquids and the next 4 on pureed foods. It wasn't until I reached week 9 post op that I was allowed to transition to solids. The transition to solids can be rather difficult. There is no need to rush this transition. I found that softer foods (such as chili and soups) went down much easier than hard foods (such as steak and chicken) therefore I stayed with these for a long time.
After surgery, I lost my hunger. This occurred at my transition to solid foods. When I was in liquid and pureed stage, I did not feel this effect. I didn't feel full.
After surgery, your stomach is the size of a fist. If you put more food onto your stomach than it can hold, it will produce dumping, vomiting in this case. This is very noticeable in the solid food stage. The experience is quite awful. But your body will produce pretriggers such as sneezing, instant loss of appetite, mucous formation, hiccups to warn you when you are close to this point. If you stop eating when these pretriggers first appear, you will avoid dumping. Just become attuned to your body and when a pretrigger occurs, do not eat even one more bite.
I have included some chili and Soup recipes at the end of the following article. http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery.pdf

For me, I just get this "no longer interested" feeling... way more mental than physical.

If you are chewing well and you are still vomiting on soft foods, please go talk to your surgeon, it's possible you have a stricture or other obstruction that might need to be attended to.

    Hey guys and gals!

So as of today I am 6 weeks post op. Per my Nut I can eat all foods at this point. What signs did you know you were full? I can’t tell. I am not eating a lot, it feels as though after a few bites it’s coming back up. Am I doing something wrong? I am still eating softer foods, like chicken (dark meat), tuna, eggs. I just would like for the throwing up to stop.

    Hello everyone,
It's my first post, but I've been lurking around since before the surgery. I think now I'm ready to share my progress.

I had my sleeve on March 9, 2018. Highest weight 236. Surgery weight 229. I had surgery through Kaiser in LA by the greatest Dr. Um.

Everything went well. It took a couple solid weeks for my incisions to heal, but after that it was a piece of cake. Everything went down fine and no problems at all. Now I'm almost 7 months post-op, almost 65 pounds down. Current weight 167.5

I feel great, look great.. still want to lose about 15 pounds.

The dress on the photo is the same but was adjusted for fit new me.

As for skin.. ehh.. I wish it would look better, but not the deal breaker! The best decision of my life!!!

Always enjoy eating out a couple of nights a week. Usually either Mexican (chicken/shrimp fajitas with no tortillas and borracho beans) or a favorite place that has a more burger/sandwich theme (chicken tenders grilled with sliced avocado, Tomato and borracho beans). I enjoy the social aspect and often there is live music. I always take a small cooler in the car and bring home leftovers which usually mean 2-3 more meals. I avoid obvious disasters like sweet potato or regular fries, onion rings, nachos, etc and have a limit of 4 chips with salsa per meal if at a Mexican place. Since I do not eat gluten I have already avoided stuff like bread, tortillas, breaded things etc. for years and there is no issue there.

I am one of those people whom have gone from cooking almost all my meals pre-op to eating almost all my meals out post-op.
i have no desire nor time to cook anymore because I am literally loving my best life with traveling and doing more things outside and being active.
I tend to make the best choice when eating out and most of the time my husband and I share an entree or I end up getting Soup or an appetizer. If it’s fast food, I generally order chicken or salads. For me it’s just easier. Am I tempted by things like dessert, bread and drinks, sure but I am so use to not getting those things now.
You just have to learn a different style of eating. It’s hard to plug things into MyFitnessPal but I sometimes carry my scale with me when I am out eating and sometimes eyeball things.

I completely understand. I luckily had Xanax to calm my nerves. But my therapist suggested just going over why your having the surgery. Don’t let negative thoughts control you. The pain is temporary and the other part I won’t even mention. You will be fine. Congratulations

Totally panicking over surgery that is in 5 days. Can't sleep (1:30am over here). Can't think about anything else. Afraid of death and pain. I really want to go through with this though. I just can't handle my own thoughts.

Only thing I used while in the hospital was my chapstick (they provide some but I like the brand I buy) and my charger. What i wore to the hospital which was a slip on dress is what i wore home. I recommend bringing your own heating pad. It took my nurse forever to get one ordered. Good luck with everything
