  1. Congratulations...I received my approval message today, too. What a great day, huh?:w00t:
  2. I was on Phen-fen for about 3 months, and lost a lot of weight on it. I went off of it on my own about 1 month before they took it off the market. A few years later, I was at the doctor with a fever, and the student doctor thought she heard a murmur or something when she checked my heart. So, they had me do an echo since they saw that I had been on phen-fen. All was fine...no damage done, although I missed out on the class action $$$$$!! I gained my weight back, too...:w00t: At my consultation for Lap Band, they asked if I had had an echo since I took the Phen-fen, and they want to see a copy of the results the next time I come.
  3. Ok, so I thought that I was in for a fight to get this thing approved. However, as I was leisurely checking my cell phone messages this morning from yesterday, I found a message from the weight loss surgical center saying that my surgery has been approved! I couldn't believe it...my first appointment was just on Monday, the 22nd. I think that when you are waiting for something that you want so bad, you can't really believe that it will happen. Anyway, my heart goes out to those that are still waiting...keep strong and don't give up. FYI...I have a BMI of 39.7, REALLY high blood pressure, and my insurance company is BCBS-Blue Care in KCMO. Nuali
  4. How discouraging you sound, IAmWithTheBand. I thought this forum was supposed to be for encouragement and support. I have a great aunt that was recently OKed for the surgery and she is 70. So, why not try to be a little more tactful and supportive? Life is far from being over at 60.
  5. Hi everyone, I just stepped out of denial and into the light about my ongoing weight problem recently and decided that there was only one option left-weight loss surgery. I, like many of you have been on every diet imaginable since I was 17; it is a list of around 10 diets or so, not to mention the seperate times I tried them again and again! I have a good friend that had LB surgery done last fall. We have the same insurance, and she is a valuable asset in knowing what to do to get the process completed. My surgeon evaluation is next Tuesday, my BMI is 40.0, and my insurance is BCBS of KC (kansas city). I am 37 years old and ready to roll... Wish me luck!! Nuali
