Hello, 10 months post op RNY and have lost 78 lbs since surgery and 95 since starting program. Things have definitely slowed down but then again I am closer to goal so makes sense. I started this journey at 61 so expected to be a slower loser! I have been dieting since I was 12 and was never able to sustain any weight loss so I am still cautiously optimistic! Hoping I can be successful at maintaining too! I am noticing my neck getting loose skin if anybody knows of a good firming cream! 😁

I was told to wait 6 months and have had no problems with eating a bit here and there. My Nut also said don’t villainize food. That being said if you can’t stop that’s another thing! We all have our weaknesses.

I refused to watch it, I felt it was degrading to contestants and not something that was realistic to keep up long term. I have read that most have gained their weight back and more.

Well it is now 6 months. and 4 hours since my RnY surgery- so I finally qualify. Funny I wanted to be with you all so badly,i even visited early, but after promising one of you I wouldn't bother you any longer the lustre is quite off.And it is a shame, I once felt I had so much to offer for my trek has been atypical and I thought I might give hope to others.
So I may visit infrequently but it won't be the source of sustainance I once thought it once would be. Sad isn't it? What I wanted so badly, a source of support, once again denied.
If anyone is remotely interested I am at 242, down from a surgery weight of 319, finally starting to go into smaller sizes although still not out of plus/woman and into " normal" sizing. Unsatisfied with the pace and scope of my diet although my bariatric consultants say I am doing fine, I am not so certain. Life is tedious, struggle to get get enough calories in since they capricously pulled my PICC line for an infection blood cultures showed was not present. Now I am struggling, 2 oz Protein or soft veg every 3 hours, 2 oz cuplet of fluids every 15 minutes in between , enough Vitamins, minerals and meds I make a rattling sound when I walk, and currently involved in a p******g war about whether I need Iron infusions and which facility is going to do it. I feel like a ping pong ball, one group says I'm seriously getting low, other says I'm delusional if I think I need it. My recovery is not mine, it's Theirs, I'd run away but I get too out of breath with low "heme" factors. Happy 6 months to ME, waiting on a phone call from one or other telling me if something is scheduled.

Checking in, just hit my 6 months Jan 5th. Things are definitely slowing and I wonder if my honeymoon is over? Seem to be stalled at the moment. Eating has gotten way better which is good and bad, my calorie intake is higher now. My only issues have been low blood pressure and Constipation from Iron supplements. I still struggle when eating out on what to order, sometimes I can’t find a good choice in smaller appetizers and don t want to order a whole meal as sometimes it’s not convenient to take home. I find it best if I can share with others but that’s not always an option either? I started at 257 and have been sitting at 184-185 for awhile now so around 75 lbs. total. My goal is 150.

Hi everyone - sorry, didn't mean to leave you all in suspense!
I got home last night and didn't have a good night and day with the pain. And my surgeon refused to give me any pain meds until my husband rang and gave him hard time. Then he gave me a 1 day script for Tramadol.
So, my husband. He surprised me. I sent him the text shortly after the surgery letting him know where I was and that I had left more info for him in the kitchen. He said that he understood why I had't told him, and that he didn't blame me. He was very supportive - but said that he probably wouldn't have been if he'd known beforehand.
He brought the girls to visit as soon as he got off work on Tuesday, and they stayed for 3 hours. He asked lots of questions and was reading some of the packet I left him.
He was there to pick me up right on time on Wednesday and said that he'd been up late reading up on it and wanted to know if I had a menu or anything he could look at so he could help. He brought Dunkin Donuts coffee and munchkins for the nurses like I asked, because they were so wonderful to me.
He called the out of hours doctor and got him to make my surgeon call back as I mentioned. He was really pissed they didn't give me better meds - I really was in a lot of pain. He has been supportive at the end, and that's good enough. He says that I definitely have made the right decision, and that I was very brave.

No Hair loss at almost 5 months! You don't want the way I escaped it though, be on Total Parentral Nutrition for over 2 months, yeah my Proteins , Vitamins and other goodies taken care of but for 12 hours every evening and night I have my backpack of goodies, a plastic line thethering me, and to me the WORST part, it's 3 liters of Fluid. like a 3 month old infant I sleep, cry and pee are all night. Too much pride to drag out the bedside commode, so I repeatedly,pitty-pat,from room to room like an unqiuet spirit. All b I need is a chain to rattle like Marley's ghost. Oh the cats appreciate me being awake, but they get a chance to sleep through the day. 🐯🐱😗

chattycat got a reaction from Frustr8 in Liquid amounts question ?
Ok, I know post op we should limit our food portions to 1/2 to 3/4 cup for RNY but my question is, do we need to limit our liquids to the same amount? If I drink 2 cups of a Protein smoothie for Breakfast or have two cups of coffee is that wrong? I’m not sure if liquids should be portioned out as well? I am 6 months Post Op.

chattycat got a reaction from Frustr8 in Liquid amounts question ?
I just had my 6 month appointment with nutritionist and had someone different as my regular girl was away, she was the one that said that I was drinking too much volume with my morning smoothie and should split it up to breakfast and then the rest as a morning snack? I had never been told that previously so started thinking I wonder if that applies to other liquids as well? I started to worry about stretching my new stomach..........was wondering if anyone else had been told the same? I always separate liquids and solids.

Oh J San regretfully,NO,to all 3 . I think I look like road kill, cheeks are caving in , look like 2 dead relatives I never noticed a resemblance to, my son says I look just fine and stop being so harsh toward myself. How I feel? Not great, I have what seems to be hunger but it is just probably my ulcers, my stomach pouch, the Ms Precious Pouch, does not entertain the ingress of anything hinting at solid, so am on a limited liquid diet, I have a stomal stricture, 2 ulcers in the pouch and multiple ones in the, jejunem, bad enough to be hospitalized on November 28th, on the 29th I had a PICC line installed in my upper left arm, I am fed TPN 12 hours on,12 hours off, to allow my gastrointestinal. system to heal up. I have the line still. No date of removal has been given, the feedings have a calorie count of 1430, which has caused me to go into a WL stall or close to it! Oh I feel much clearer of mind, than I did when I was dehydrated and had proteinemia, so that is GOOD. So apart from being exhausted, fat, and nearing an emotional breakdown from all that has happened ,and financial unstable, my post surgical trek has been just ducky. But you know, I refuse to let it cloud my life, I am still going to be a winner. I did not have major surgery to become a loser, I am in this to win this , and I still shall. Don't count this old red-headed broad out, I will not leave this life without a fight👈!😝👉

I’m from BC and Provincial Medical covered all expenses for WLS. You have to meet their requirements and go through the program. There are only 2 Surgeons in BC that do either sleeve or RNY so waits are long to get into the program. I was on a wait list for over 2 years and took 6 months to go through the program so almost 3 years from start to finish. Self pay was not an option here.

My surgeon told me to expect 8-10 lbs a month, so that sounds about right? But true everyone loses at different rate. Don’t focus only the number on the scale, sometimes it’s best not to weigh yourself daily and just stay the course! Good luck!
