  1. I'm hoping to start a food/life hack discussion here, so we can share things that help us in the journey for everybody's benefit. I've started doing a big batch of cooking on Sundays, so I have easily accessible food during the week. I just did a big batch of grilled chicken that I can add to salad or eat on its own this week for lunches. I also cooked a filet that is big enough for 3 servings for my new smaller stomach. Plus I cooked spicy ground turkey to add to salsa & veggies for lettuce wraps or add to beans for chili. It helps me be far less tempted to snack on junk or processed food when I'm too busy to cook during the week. How about you guys? Thanks for any ideas!
  2. I was 150 when I was 30 years old, just before starting treatment for infertility issues and then getting pregnant. Got back to 170 3 years later after my second baby, so I'm shooting for 170. I figure best weight of 150 + 10 lbs for each kid = perfect goal weight for me. According to the Medical BW quoted here, I'd be at MBW at 155 (5' 11") so I'm fine with 170. I can't believe I'm only 49 lbs from there!! 100 lbs seemed IMPOSSIBLE. 49 feels like it's so close I can taste it!
  3. The gastric sleeve chart says expect to lose 60% of your excess weight in a year. But I'm almost there already! I want to lose 100% of my excess weight in a year. Or even by New Year's Day!
  4. You are so wise and so kind to reach out to me when your own struggle has been so much harder. Thank you. I'm putting a card on the wall next to my computer that says "I SAVED MYSELF!!" so I can remember. xoxo
  5. Very wise. I need to remember this. Thanks!
  6. Thanks. That's very good advice, in all areas.
  7. I was but you're right. I should again. Thanks!
  8. So I just hit the halfway mark to goal - 51 lbs. down and 3 months out - and mostly I'm thrilled. But yesterday I spent the entire day feeling like a loser because "why did I let myself get that big to begin with????" "How could I have done this to myself???" I'm trying really hard to focus on how wonderful this journey is, but my messed-up mind keeps wanting to obsess on the mistakes I made in the past that got me to 272 lbs. I'd really love some advice/tips from those of you who've battled this mind-trap and won. Tks.
  9. Daily, except I travel a lot for work. This weekend I had a three day conference/day of vacation in a resort place and ate vacation food. I was prepared to have gone up a pound or even two, but it's fine because I'm home and back on target. But I lost 3 lbs!!! I think it was all the walking on the beach and in the heat. My reason for daily is similar to what many have said - I want to catch myself if I start to go up several days in a row or something. 10 weeks out and 48 lbs though - hooray!!! I feel SO good.
  10. Just had to fly for the first time post-op and it was SO much better! I didn't worry about squeezing myself down so my thighs didn't squeeze over. And I was at a yearly event so nobody had seen me yet and I had people coming up to me ALL WEEK telling me "you look amazing!" "you look so healthy!" After all the work/trauma/etc., it felt wonderful. Hang in there, new sleevers - it gets better!
