Briswife15 got a reaction from GreenTealael in Post op ladies who wear nail polish
Hi. So, I had my bypass 6.5 months ago, and my nails are in terrible shape. Peeling and splitting. I like to wear nail polish, but it just doesn't stay. A day or two after polishing them the polish starts chipping and flaking off! Any suggestions for improving my manicure? I just started taking Biotin for my nails, and Hair loss, but I'm sure it takes months to see improvement. Thanks!

I chose bypass, and I'm very happy with that choice. Complications can happen with either surgery. I only wanted to do this once, and chose bypass because I thought it gave me, personally, the best shot at success. There are tons of very successful sleevers, though. Ultimately go with your gut! (Pun intended!)

If you don't mind my asking...what's so awful about taking a vitamin every day? They make bariatric chewables that aren't bad.

I like Syntrax Nectar powder, Unjury powder, both mixed with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. For ready to drink shakes I like Ensure Max Protein chocolate flavor.

You're doing great! Don't worry. When have you ever lost a pound a day for 2 weeks?! Don't compare yourself to others, it is just not fair, and will mess with your head. Keep up the good work!

I've had lowfat cream cheese, about a tablespoon, and other low fat dairy products with no problem. I had gastric bypass. You could also substitute non fat plain Greek yogurt.

I personally find it really toxic to compare my weight loss to others on this forum because we're all so different. I just get discouraged! That being said I'm losing about 10 pounds a month and am 6.5 months post gastric bypass. My team is pleased with my progress. Don't worry too much, just exercise and follow your team's plan for you, and you'll do fine.

I have just run your numbers through a BMI calc ( yes I know some people hate them) and according to that your BMI is 21.1 which is still well within the healthy range. Therefore I wouldn’t stress too much at this point.
I would suggest adding back in healthy fats. Things likes nuts, seeds and avocados. Also use higher fat versions of dairy.
I often think that people worry that they are too skinny when they are in fact healthy because these days we are more used to seeing overweight people .

Well, I have a different perspective. I am 3 months post RNY, and despite having serious complications which prevent me from eating food for the most part, I have absolutely NO REGRETS! I feel amazing, have gone down 3 sizes in clothes, move better, sleep better, and my diabetes is in remission!! I was mentally prepared for the surgery, but was unaware I could develop a severe stricture and marginal ulcers. I'm going with the flow, and Imagine I will eventually heal. Im sorry for those with regret, and I hope with time you feel better about your decision.

You already answered your own question. It's usually seen as polite to offer food. Unless you have the impression that people try to actively sabotage you it's nothing to rant about.
I often offer some food (ProudGrammy called it "goodies", lol) myself. I don't mind though if people decline. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't, depending on what I offer and at what time of day.
As much as some people on here might not like it but "food" brings people together since people exist.

Just calories. Protein has stayed the same. Added in avocado as a healthy fat, and a few more carbs.

Oh, my goodness! For every horror story there are hundreds of success stories! I had gastric bypass on March 27th 2019, and it was the best decision I've ever made. Sure, there are ups and downs, but I've lost more weight than I could have on my own, my diabetes is GONE, I'm off all high blood pressure medication, I can go up and down stairs again, etc!! Please take a deep breath and be positive. You got this!

Hi, there! I'm 57 and had my RNY on March 27, 2019. I am 5' 3.5" and started at about 230 or so. High weight was 246. I'm now 158. I recently increased my calories and the weight loss accelerated. Go figure! I was eating no more than 800 calories for months. I know you didn't ask about calories, but wanted to motivate you to eat more when you can. Congratulations on your surgery and best to you!!!

Just want to say, "hello", and let you know there are people out here in cyberspace who care! I'm sorry you're struggling. Your body has been through a lot, and it's hard being a single parent. Try and take things one hour at a time, then get through the next hour. Be patient with yourself and the tidiness of your home. Going for a walk is a great idea when you're down. Things will get better!

I've posted about this in the past, so you may want to do a search, but the answer is, yes, you may indeed have problems absorbing antidepressants. I did. At first we switched from extended release Effexor to immediate release and it wirked for a few months. Suddenly I started experiencing withdrawal symptoms and realized I was not absorbing the Effexor. Switched to liquid Prozac and it seems to be absorbing well. I had bypass.
