When did people start noticing your weightloss and how different you look? I’m 8lbs away from losing a total of 50lbs in under 3 months and quite honestly NO ONE has said Damn you look smaller or wow you’ve lost weight. They simply haven’t noticed any change. My mom sees it but she’s also paying attention to the changes because she is the only one who knows about my surgery. I took lots of pics and i steady take them to compare myself and the change IMO is astronomical. I truly don’t need the validation from others and I’ll even be uncomfortable with that sort of attention but I’m curious to know.. when did others start noticing that you were smaller? Did people that hadn’t seen you in a while noticed first or the people you work with or come across all the time? How much weight did you lose before people noticed?

I think you’re on to something here. That might be it. People may feel like they are somewhat acknowledging you were fat and not trying to be rude. if I saw someone I knew lose 50lbs and I didn’t know they had surgery they will have to tell me how they did it lol I’m going to say something and ask questions 🙊 id want the secret lol

To me, it's sort of like when you think someone might be pregnant but you don't ask because you might end up embarrassing yourself... or worse, embarrassing the other person.
Once, and this still bothers me to this day, I asked someone who clearly looked pregnant how far along they were. Not only was there no pregnancy, but the person I asked turned out to be a man.

I found the 1st 50 pounds hardly anyone noticed. The 2nd 50 has been much more noticeable. Keep it up, pretty soon everyone will be commenting. Good luck!

Yo-yo girl reacted to Missouri-Lee's Summit in Do any of the bypass folks with they'd gone with a sleeve?
My surgeon presented me with both options then steered me toward the bypass. I'm glad he did. I don't think I would have been happy at all with a sleeve. GERD-potential, permanent removal of a portion of my stomach (what if the surgeon removed too much?)
The bypass isn't called the "gold standard" for nothing. What's the sleeve called? The Regret?

Ah ok.. I kind of figured as much. I’m definitely getting the iron-free ones. I believe ill be set with these vitamins along with my Heme Iron and my barimelt Calcium, unless my numbers say otherwise.

I purchased all of them through Amazon.
My Heme Proferrin Iron is $64
    My bariatric Multivitamin $20
    My sublingual vitamin B12 $15
    My chewy barimelt Calcium $22

May seem like a lot but is nothing compared to how much I used to spend on food and even less considering it’s to keep me healthy.. I’m ok with the tradeoff.

I do find I am able to eat more Soup and say salad rather than a denser start of 4 oz of just Protein. If I eat 4 oz of meat I will be full but I am always able to eat more than 4oz of chili or soup. I don’t stress over it as I make my own Soups and they are high in protein and low in carbs. I don’t stress over eating more salad because sometimes my body needs the vegetables and I get sick of meat all the time.

Some foods are easier to eat larger amounts of, usually they are softer in texture, some people (me) lovingly call them sliders .
Not a big deal when its Protein based and you need the macros, a much bigger deal when the foods hold little to no nutritional value for your current lifestyle (crackers-no judgment I promise).
To help with this you can eat only the recommended size (1/4-1/2 cup), watch out for these sliders and make sure you are eating for 30 mins or less (part of the 30/30/30 rule) because the stomach does eventually empty (it can happen while you are eating)
Eating for longer periods means you'll be replacing cals too quickly and runs the risk of grazing (which means higher cal consumption effectively canceling out the effects of the surgery)

You will be surprised at what weight training will do for fat loss. I say try incorporating light weight training 3x/week

Start measuring and tracking other measurements that usually get forgotten. Hips, thighs, waist, stomach, chest, arms or whatever suits you.

I had been a stall very recently, and it started to bother me but I realized that my jogging intervals are faster and easier, and I am adding weights at the gym very consistently. Since I am eating right, there is nothing else I can do. I am on a good trajectory so I didn't let it bother me.

The prob with me is that I have a lot of restriction, i can’t fully eat 2 oz of meat I mean i Can but i don’t feel very good once I’m finished. I’ll be very full and with a stomach ache. So I don’t want to make it an even smaller portion adding veggies but I do love veggies and I actually tolerate them quite well. I’ll deff look into those fiber mixes and deff incorporate it until I can add veggies. And you’re deff right sometimes after a cheat meal or something to switch things up the body goes back on track but I’m so scared of gaining and being stuck at a higher number lol lord I’ll really come here and rant. I’ll keep you updated with how it goes.

My water intake has been better than it ever has considering I stopped drinking light beers to speed things up and even seltzer water because very little of it quench my thirst. 2 things i should have never been drinking but did and still lose weight not that I quit I’m stalling, how ironic. I don’t do weights and will not start to until I’ve lost another 30% of my weight I’m focused on lots of cardio and resistance training. I measure my loss with a scale not a BMI tool or measuring tape because that’s all that matters to me. I track my weight on an app called happy scale so even if my weight fluctuates a pound or a pound and a half it means nothing to me because I understand my moving average. When I tell you I’m stuck on this weight like a rock unfazed without reason i mean it. I’ve been telling myself to be patient because there is no other diet or regimen better than the one I’m already on, i can not restrict anymore nor am I upping it and I’m deff not going to start eating carbs hell with the “good carbs”. Speaking of which, I’ve also been on ketosis the entire time. So to sum it up.. I eat clean as all hell I literally have nothing to log because I only have meat without even marinating it bc I don’t want to add cals and carb just salt and pepper and Premier Protein shakes and water. Clean lean low cal fat and carb. If someone else wrote this I’ll blatantly call them a liar because such isn’t possible one would be melting away. When I tell you I’m furious it’s an understatement! Thanks for trying to figure this out with me 💪

Anyone else has this illogical fear that they’ll be the one this surgery doesn’t work for? It’s hard for me to picture a day when I’ll be full with little sips. All the reading, researching and success stories can’t keep me from feeling like what if. Anyone else felt this way?

I don’t need to read every page on google for bariatric surgery nor do I need an encyclopedia so don’t be horrified for me. I have a nutritionist and a team of doctors and a line to reach my surgeon 24/hours a day. I don’t need my procedure broken down to me I know what it’s all about as well as most of us who decided this is was best for our health. This is a support group where people exchange ideas, recipe and any other sort of curiosity. These forums aren’t in place for doctors advice, with that said all your materials couldn’t prepare you for what lies ahead because that’s to be determined. like yourself all we can do is inform ourselves and exchange ideas and share our own individual experiences.

It does make a difference and if you had done your research you would know that. I too have a problem controlling what I eat simply because I like food. 3 weeks after my bypass I really tried to eat rice Beans with chicken and avocado and guess what, I couldn’t. The 2 spoons I had landed on my stomach like a ton of bricks and the 3rd spoon I threw up. But guess what would happen if I could actually eat rice? I’d prob be eating it. And that’s why I got a bypass because if I could eat around my tool I probably would. It’s a legitimate question. people who get the sleeve understand that it’s a tool that helps you control the amount of food you eat but not the quality. So if you know you have a problem eating high fats and carbs and you can’t control it why not pick a surgery that keeps you from making those poor choices?
