  1. Do you log your food? You can try myfitnesspal app and just try to be aware of the calories in food you consume and maybe create some calorie deficit while still feeling satisfied and enjoying food you like to eat. You still have your tool that will help you be less hungry and feel satisfied more quickly, you just have to make it work. Good luck!
  2. It couldn't. You are loosing fat, but maybe have some excess water weight, probably some swelling from surgery that shows on scale. Week 3 stall is a common thing anyway.

    Caffeine

I stayed away from coffee for maybe six weeks. I drank it only occasionally before and was never dependent on caffeine so it wasn't a big deal. However, I now drink it more than ever and I can feel effects of caffeine much more. My sleeve is fine though, I am staying hydrated, I don't know should I be worried.

When did you start losing hair?

Yes, for me it started around three and a half months post-op. It's not too bad though. I have PCOS and I've seen worse than this. My hair was already thin and fragile before sleeve and I plan to make some changes for some time already.
  5. I'm almost four months post-op and still didn't have not one bite of chocolate, ice cream or any sugary food and they certainly were my go to food in the past. I don't have major cravings, more like some nostalgic feelings sometimes, but I just know how addictive these things are and how much damage they've already made and I refuse to give in. I was just really mentally prepared to let sugar go from my life and my new sleeve made physical process go smoother, but the major shift happened in my mind.

    PCOS

Where I live (Eastern Europe), one treatment for chin and neck area with this laser (Lumenis Lightsheer Desire) can be found for 20 euros. I can see on realself.com that in US it is much more expensive. You can not wax it or pluck hair with tweezers 6 weeks before treatment, but you can shave it off. I used to shave it daily unfortunately (it was such yucky feeling having to do it ) and just used thick foundation with very good coverage. After two treatments, I start noticing some very fine hair growing 4 weeks after my last visit, but it is not as noticable and doesn't bother me nearly as much.

    PCOS

I have PCOS and I have seen much improvement with my periods right after surgery. This year before surgery I had only one period and it was at the end of March, it was very heavy and caused my blood hemoglobin to drop from high normal (had blood test a month before my surgery) to anemic (blood test done when I was admitted in hospital). Then I had surgery on April 20th and was taken off metformin.Got my period on 5/1, than on 6/2 and on 7/6 and all that without any meds! I decided to try laser treatment for hirsutism, went to clinic which has a medical grade diode laser (Lumenis Desire) and had two treatments for now (plan to have three more) and the results are very very good. My bet is to have existing hair follicles lasered off and hope that my now more balanced hormones wan't cause new ones forming.

    How Much Protein?

Just after surgery my goal was at 60 g, took three shakes a day. Three months later I upped my calories at 700-800, and protein 80 - 100 grams. I still drink one shake a day, but I could go without it.

    Hardest Part (outside of eating)

Stalls. It just sucks when I wake up and number on the scale is the same as yesterday. Social eating and drinking. I never realized how much socializing is around food and i just feel so uneasy in these situations at the moment. Fear of not losing the weight/gaining all of it back/not being successful. It's always at the back of my mind.

Congrats! That is great! I'm looking forward to this milestone one of these days, too!

When can I Keto - 2 weeks post no loss

If you eat no more than 30 grams of carbs and 65 grams of proteins every day, you already are in ketosis and you have all the benefits of starvation ketosis. You just don't use fat from your diet, you use fat from your body. VLCDs are ketogenic diets, too.

    Catheter During Surgery?

I did have one. It wasn't a big deal.

    1 month post op today

You could buy some unflavored protein powder, add it to hot liquids like soups or even bake with it (pancakes, muffins...).
  16. I eat 500 - 700 kcals a day. Carbs are under 30g, more like 10-15g. To optimize my weight loss I must eat low carb, I really don't have any illusions about that. I struggle with protein and drink shakes to keep protein around 50-60 grams. I am setting some vegetables goals right now cause they are nutritious and healthy, keep constipation issues at bay and not so hard on my sleeve as protein is, so I will just try to eat them as much as I can. But yeah, two month out, still not hungry and eating real foods is constant struggle.

Anyone else have problems eating eggs?

Eggs were ok for me at 8 weeks, although I can still feel quite nauseated when I eat them. Fish is the easiest protein for me to keep down. Poultry is still a no go and I haven't even tried any red meat.

    Managing Diabetes

You should be off Glipizide while on liquid diet pre-op and post-op. It can cause lows (especially dangerous at night!) and potentially do more harm than good. Metformin is usually fine. Talk to your endocrinologist and your surgeon.
  20. It's just water weight, nothing to worry about. If you ate only 500 kcal that day, your body had to burn some fat to support your basal metabolism, even if the scale showed otherwise.

    Protein intake

I like shakes luckily, cause almost all other natural protein sources (except fish and milk) are no go with my sleeve yet. Hope that will change, however. I get 40 grams from shakes and 10-30g from whole foods.

    April sleevers

Hi J@Alabama, how long is your stall? I had a gain and a stall at around 5 - 6 weeks, when I started eating solid foods, because all I could keep down was starchy foods like potato and banana. So I ate plenty of those, and I stalled ofcourse. When I brought my carbs under 50g, I started losing more steady again. If I don't see any loss in 3-4 days, I go a day fasting, or drink a water pill and scale keeps moving.
  23. I first wanted bypass, mostly because of the percent of diabetes reversal, it sounded more promising than the sleeve and I just wanted the constant stress of managing diabetes to be gone. However my surgeon talked me out of it, he was confident that the sleeve will do the job as well because I didn't have diabetes for long time, I'm relatively young ect. Other reason were I started with low BMI, I wouldn't have to worry about vitamins deficiency so much (and I am planning a pregnancy in future) ,correct dosing of medications is not an issue with sleeve, would be able to take some NSAIDs when needed with much less risk, and if I ultimately fail or diabetes gets back, reversal to RNY or duodenal switch is simpler with sleeve.
