weight loss stall
Measure out your food. At 3 weeks you should probably be having 3 oz per meal. I’m 3 years out & still measure my food at home. Eating until you are full isn’t really a good idea.

Can’t keep Most food down
Then try taking the meds before you eat.

Can’t keep Most food down
Did the surgeon give you any anti- nausea meds? You can try OTC Dramamine - the kind with Meclizine. I'm over 3 years out & I carry some with me at all times. I still get nauseous at times. I buy the meclizine in bulk from Amazon!

10 days post op living on Skim Milk and Cream of Wheat
I was gonna say the exact thing that Kristieshannon said! Protien, water, walking & stool softeners. You may need a laxative or enema (If you feel like it's right there but is too hard to come out) to get things started.

Hiatal Hernia AFTER RNY
Have you vomited a lot after surgery!? My severe Hiata Hunias was caused by vomiting so much during pregnancy, I had severe Hyperemessis Gravidarium for both of my pregnancies & 3 miscarriages. I hope the omeprazole helps control your GRED. I have to take pantoprazole for the rest of my life so they won’t come back & I had A RNY.

Vitamin A supplementation
I use the PatchMD multi. They have 900mcg RAE which is 100% daily dose. For 3 years my vit A has been great. Vit A isn’t meausured mcg IU. It’s measured by mcg. I would ask for more clarification.

Weight loss
I used Magnesium Citrate (capsules) for constipation. A naturopath started me on a combo of magnesium (citrate, malate, glycinate) last week to help with pain & getting a better nights sleep. I usually only sleep for a few hours because a different pain wakes me up every night! The 1st 2 nights I did have the best sleep I’ve had in a while!

Calories per day?
That is a different answer for everyone. I was told my the nutritionist provided through my insurance (Cigna) to just worry about protein for the 1st 7-8 months. Try to get 80-90 mg a day. I needed to eat high protein things like eggs, meat, cheese & to make sure I wasn’t eating high calorie things like candy bars & cookies. I had at least 1 protein shake a day.

Almost one year - Down 100lbs - recap
Thank you so much for sharing. I had my surgery over 3 years ago but I love reading stories about others journey. You have done great! Congrats for being in Onederland! I would love to hear about all of the things you can do now! Stick to the basics & you will loose the weight. Don’t even think that one bite won’t hurt because before you know it it will be one bite here & there & then you will be back where you started from. You know how to eat properly now so stick with it!

Reactive hypoglycemia, anemia, and PS updates
Wouldn’t it be typical to loose weight after skin removal?

When does it get better!?
Your surgery was just a few days ago. You don’t say what kind of pain you’re in if it’s from the incisions or the pain in your back from the gas. For me the gas pain in my back and shoulder last for about three weeks but that is because of some other problems that my body has. And it’s always the same no matter what kind of laparoscopic surgery that I have. Did you do a pre-op liquid diet? If you did it has been days since you have eaten any solid food. It amazes me that people think they should be having a BM a few days after this surgery. At this point you aren’t taking in much food and it’s all liquid progressing to soft food.

Vitamin d 3
I had that also last time my levels were checked. Now I just take a vitamin D supplement three times a week.

Pre op testing
I think a lot of that has to do with your insurance company.

Vitamins & Bypass?
I uses Vitamin patches from PatchMD. Before bypass I had a hard time swallowing pills because they would get stuck because I also had a restriction. Now I just take so many other pills that I use the patches because they are easy. I am just over 3 years out. I have my vitamin levels checked every year. 1st year I was a LITTLE low on B12 & this past year B12 was good & I’m slightly low on D. B12 can be fixed with a shot every few months. D is no big deal. My daughter uses the chewable from BariatricPal. Her doc said they should be chewable that is going to break into a powder or like a starburst but NOT like a gummy. Talk to your doc office & see what they want you to do. Pretty much everyone should take a daily vitamin anyway.

7 days out and struggling
Didn’t they send you home with an anti nausea meds? Both my daughter & I got them & we even had totally different surgeons. She even got suppositories! I’m over 3 years out & I still need some at least every other day! I buy Dramamine by the bottle on Amazon!

Sorry you are having so much trouble. I’m sure you are miserable! If you develop a fever please get yourself to an ER! That could mean you have a more serious infection!

Cbd oil
I have used holistic things after surgery several time. I just brought them in my bags when I knew I was going to spend several nights in the hospital or just used them when I got home. I would just be careful to use anything that contained TCH if you are going to be using the pain meds you come home from the hospital with. If you are taking the pain meds you might not need them for any arthritis!

Gastric Bypass Surgery
Yes, you need to take vitamins after surgery. Taking vitamins isn’t a bad idea for most people. I use the PatchMD ones. I take enough pills as it is & I don’t want to take anymore orally. My daughter takes the BariatricPal ones. Others take chewable children’s vitamins (I couldn’t stand those & a kid). I had a RNY because I had previous surgery to fix a hiatal hernia that had failed & it was causing me a great deal of acid reflux again. Talk with your doctor to pick the best surgery for you!

The stomach left behind...
Thanks a lot! Now I can't stop thinking about it ? IDK, but I sure hope someone can answer this for us!

Postoperative multivitamins
Wow! $105 for a year is a great price! I personally use the PatchMD multi. I already take so many pills a day so that’s why I love the patches. I am almost 3 years out. I have my vitamin levels check each year & everything has always been good! They are about $23 a month with shipping but worth it for me.

Gastric Bypass Surgery
Hi Elaine, welcome. The doctor is just gonna talk with you about your weight, your dieting history, what the surgery is like, what to expect from the surgery & help you decide which surgery is right for you. If you have acid reflux at all you should have a RNY. From what I’ve seen in the boards, your age isn’t a concern at all. Toodles, Rue

Letter...Cigna is tripping
I had surgery because of medical reasons not related to a high BMI & my daughter had surgery because she had a high BMI. Neither of us had any problems with Cigna as long as we did what they wanted us to do. That was in 2018. I have found that some coverage for other things has changed since 2121 started so who really knows.

Food is disgusting
What about broth? Just keep the foods simple & more liquid then solid. Talk with a nutritionist & see if they have any ideas for you.
