Altered Taste
My taste buds have definitely changed. It isn’t that I dislike anything but after a few bites, food begins to taste off & weird. I use this as my way of knowing I have had enough to eat. The food I am eating legit starts tasting gross

How often do you weigh yourself?
This is me. I would go insane if I didn’t weigh myself every morning

Abdominal Binder & Pain?
My incision pain went away around 4.5 weeks. The largest incision where the surgeon worked from was the one that lasted so long; like yours. i didn’t use a binder. But if you feel like it’ll help you, go for it

Choosing between bypass and sleeve
Please note that while the sleeve can be converted to bypass...not every doctor nor insurance company is willing to do so. Especially if the reason is just for not enough weight lost or weight gain.

Afraid!!
The fear is normal. But I always asked myself, “would you rather die because of your obesity or do you want to die on the table trying to save your life?” yes that may see morbid or weird, but that’s what I asked myself. I took my chances twice and came out on the better side. You too will come out of this on the right side. Good luck

Causes of Revisions
My weight gain was due to me not having any restriction from sleeve. There was legit no explanation as to why I had no restriction. I could eat a plate of protein and be full after the entire plate, not just a cup of food like I was taught. I believe developing GERD didn’t help as well. As time went on, certain foods caused it and one learns to stay away from those foods. But GERD can also lead to eating unhealthy foods because they’re more tolerable...thus the weight gain.

Choosing between bypass and sleeve
I had the sleeve, lost a little bit of weight, lost restriction, gained weight back, developed GERD & then had a revision to RNY. wish I had the bypass to begin with. I definitely need the malabsorption & restriction. I feel like there’s a lot of leeway with the sleeve in terms of foods that one can eat. But that’s my opinion and it doesn’t happen for every sleever. Good luck in your journey

Are Frequent Stalls Normal???
Yep. I am almost 3 months out and have had 3 stalls. The weight loss will continue, just gotta stay on the right path

Sweet Tooth
I find that these products aren’t sugar free but really no sugar added. They may have sugar institutes as well. And usually the carb content is high. I would see if it fits your macros for the day (whatever you’re counting). I found that these products make me dump. So try them at home first. i also fear these type of products may make me want to try other “not so good stuff for me” so I stopped trying them and only stick to things within my parameters. I don’t want to fall back into bad habits. If I try this one thing and it didn’t affect me, then I may just reach for a tub of ben and jerry’s; and that scares me.

Brain is Hungry but Stomach is Not
Try adding flavorless protein powder to your crystal light to get your protein in. It is quite norma to not have the desire this early out. For some, it lasts months, for a variety of bariatric surgeries. I use Genepro brand powder to mix in with my crystal light. It clumps easily but use a blender bottle or blender to mix well

Sweet Tooth
Can you have sugar free popsicles or jello? Those have been my go to not sure if you’re allowed any of these things but I mix sugar free jello pudding with heavy whipping cream (instead of milk) and make a fluffy dessert. It satisfies my ice cream sweet tooth and I legit only have about 2 tablespoons and I am done. I only crave something sweet like this once a week so I make it and then my husband ends up eating it cause I never really touch it lol

Catheter duting surgery
The drain wasn’t for my rny. it was for an ovarian cystectomy. Wasn’t painful, just felt weird and long. Physician’s assistant pulled it out. They pulled it out the day before I was suppose to be discharged and it was about 48 hours after surgery. They did an open surgery on me and not laparoscopic cause I had two huge ovarian cysts

Catheter duting surgery
I had one for all my abdominal surgeries and my revision to RNY. They took mine out about 6 hours after surgery until I was alert and ready to walk. Never felt a thing when they took it out, just pressure but no pain. And it’s very quick. I had a drain before in my abdomen and that was a mind f**k lol

Not losing weight evenly
Yep! Weird how our bodies work. I have always had uneven breasts but never really noticeable to anyone except me when bra shopping. And now my feet are weird! My left foot is a tad bit fatter than my right lol

Plateau
You will be surprised at what weight training will do for fat loss. I say try incorporating light weight training 3x/week

These stalls are no joke!
You’re so right. I, like a dummy, failed to take measurements pre-op. But I am going to do this tonight with the help of my husband. I get so fixated on weight because my doc/team only see what’s on the scale. They don’t do measurements and the only thing they go off of is scale so I want to make sure I hit decent weight loss before next appt. thank you for the GREAT information

These stalls are no joke!
Oh man, stall broke today. was 204.4 for the longest and now 203 even just increases water intake and took rest day from exercise

What to drink
You should have started already. Please call your team to find out your diet for the next few weeks.

5 days post-op (No dumping, no vomiting) an I missing a signal?
You are fresh out of surgery. If you’re staying on the liquid diet within all your parameters, you shouldn’t be dumping. Some may get nausea but that’s somewhat normal. Even when you start eating, not all people get dumping. I don’t and it was a concern for me; but then again, it’s all self control. When you start eating foods, even soft foods, you may have an aversion to some.

Should weight matter in a relationship?
I think it’s most definitely an issue, or could be rather. I met my husband at 220 lbs. at 5’ 2” and he was a 180 (tops) at 6’1”. We were both attracted to one another the way we were. We have always had silly “what if” conversations and we had a what if I ballooned to 400+ pounds....let’s just say, we would be divorced if change didn’t occur and one didn’t seek help. I would not stay in an unhealthy relationship. Whether it be a food addiction, drug, alcohol etc. And neither would my husband
