TropicalBeachDoll got a reaction from Frustr8 in one week post op weight stall
Yes congratulations. Your body has to make adjustment to losing weight. Don’t worry about the stall. It’s part of the process. Remember it’s not a race

TropicalBeachDoll reacted to Sleeved in DFW :-) in This didn't work for me
I’m the OP. I’m 10-months post-op now. I took @introversion advice and came to realize and then eventually accept that I am a slow loser. As of today, I am down 63 lbs. and have gone from a BMI of 38.3 to a BMI of 28. I am now classified as “overweight” and not obese. I went from a size 24 to wearing a 12 or 14 now. My average weight loss is 1.41 lbs weekly and my monthly average is 6.34 lbs. I no longer use a cpap machine and my plantar fasciitis is fine or in submission. All good non-scale victories.
I wish it had been quicker. But we are all about instant gratification and I have learned to be more patient. I am 23 lbs away from my goal weight of 150 and I am 5’6. At my current rate it will take another 23 weeks to get there and that means I won’t reach goal until November which is 15 months after surgery. I just keep telling myself what @introversion has said on many occasions that there are slower losers and it’s not necessary a bad thing. Usually people who start with a lower BMI lose slower. Although I have seen people on here that have lost 30 lbs more than me and started at the same weight. It could also be my age (46 now) and the fact that I am on a medication cocktail for depression and have been for 20+ years. The other thing I deal with is that my weight can fluctuate 4-6 lbs depending on the day. I want to see it go down and never go back -up but that is not the case and some days I will go up 4 lbs and I start to worry again.
I’m glad I had the surgery. I still get 60-80 Protein a day and keep my carbs for special occasions. I don’t have problems eating any foods but I do feel my restriction and I am so thankful it is there. I hiccup when I’m dull and I know to stop. I pray it never goes away.
Here are some B&A pics if interested.
Thanks for asking how I’m doing. I really appreciate it.

I was very discouraged when I got home too. I was so tired and very sore. It does get better! The first couple of weeks can be really hard. This forum helped me tremendously. I'll be 7 weeks post-op Monday and I feel like I've really turned a corner the past couple of days. I hope you start feeling better soon!

Failing.....you had surgery a MAJOR surgery a few days ago. Most ppl dont have super easy recovery. Days 3 thru 6 can be the worst due to swelling and soreness. Walk, sip and lay on your left side with heating pad to expel some gas. Use gas X. You doing fine. You cant fail at surgery recovery.

TropicalBeachDoll reacted to TakingABreak in Why is it that we can no longer for the rest of our lives drink carbonated drinks or carbonated water like Perrier?
Yeah, I don't think that's right. May programs allow caffeine back in after the healing process is over. Lots of vets drink coffee, and not decaf. And I wonder why your NUT would say that decaf is okay, but not regular. If caffeine really does "stretch your pouch" then why would smaller amounts be ok? Especially if it counts as a clear liquid, can you imagine if someone drank 8 cups a day...it would equate to a regular cup of caffeinated coffee... Doesn't make a lick of sense. I'd ask for clarification when you return to your NUT. I think you are mixed up with carbonation.

TropicalBeachDoll reacted to nibble in It’s happening! 3 month countdown!
Yes, I love this non-interest in food these days. Unless I miss a mealtime and get really hungry. Then all bets are off and I seek out anything that requires no prep - all things I shouldn't have anyway. So, planning ahead will be critical for me, and eating whether hungry or not. They caution against buying lots of clothes as you keep going down. I bought just one top in the next size down, and one 2 sizes down, and one 3 sizes down. Sale items I really really loved. Hang them over the door for viewing and inspiration. At this point I cannot imagine fitting into any of them. After July 17 I may imagine differently.

Very wise, Tropi. Weaning bit by bit away from stuff is the best plan, gives your system time to adjust and do some healing even before surgery. I won't have a Final Meal either, or I'll feel I dramatically fell off a cliff and my entire system - mind, body, spirit will be in chaos and turmoil. I want smooth sailing on this journey.

I won’t. Be prepping a final meal. Once I have my pre-op I will spend the next 3 weeks prepping for pre-post surgery like buying shakes, Protein waters, etc. my last meal will be at a restaurant, because I LOVE eating out and it will involve chips and salsa and guacamole and a huge plate of fajitas. Then the next day I will start my pre-op diet and journey to my new life. I’ll be making other changes until then like giving up the bubbly Water, sweet coffee creamer, fast food, etc. I don’t want those in my life any more after surgery. -

Amazing. I had three nutritionist say it stretches your stomach--where do they get their information?
I feel like a kid when my parents told me not to turn on the cabin light in the car or we would get a ticket. I only learned in my 30s that was not true they just didn't want me to turn on the light.
Getting gaslighted by the professionals...

Nutritionist said it will cause some stretch to your pouch. She did say Decaf is okay to have because it’s decaf not caf and that it’s also considered a clear liquid.
Maybe caffeine is okay for you to have , but it’s not recommended.

On 8/27 I have my surgical and psych consults as well as my nutrition class, EKG, and blood work! If I’m given the green light that day, I can schedule surgery for anytime in the following 30 days, approx 9/25. I will find out at my consult about any pre-op diet requirements. I’m so excited and nervous and anxious but excited!
What was your “final meal” before surgery (outside of strict diet guidelines)?

TropicalBeachDoll got a reaction from Frustr8 in Positive Pregnancy Test 4 days after VSG Surgery
First Congratulations! I’ve heard so many great stories of women immediately becoming pregnant after surgery. Every child is a gift . Don’t worry just continue to trust the process. Take things one day at a time. With God all things are possible.

1. hydration
2. Protein
3. NO Sugar - not just reduced No sugar
4. No simple carbs - that's ALL the highly refined foods you find in the center of the store.
5. Get your carbs from veggies
6. While you are gaining weight no fruit - in moderation if your losing weight
7. no Snacks after dinner
Don't eat anything marked low fat - when fat is removed sugar is added to make it taste good.
All of the above are goals they are not all or nothing. the closer you get to each goal the easier the weight will come off.
good luck and welcome back

I hope to find a Protein Shake I can tolerate and that I don’t pass out from low blood sugar (I’m diabetic). I heard sugar free popsicles and sugar free Jello are good. Hang in there!!
