Had surgery today all went well. Already walked and blew in my new toy. Pain not so bad more when I sit up to go walking etc. Sipping has gone well, try to have an ice chip but really got nauseated but did not throw up.
So I got to the hospital the nurse that prepping me weight me.in and said you don't weight that much. After 8 days of liquid down to 218 started with my jitters of backing out thank God for my husband honey you are doing it for your overall health. Then again when doing paper work and more prepping she said you really don't need this surgery my husband gave the look. Again got nervous and my husband said to me and the nurse you are doing this for here health.. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, and my BMI was 39.8 t hyroid, joint pain etc.. then finally the nurse relaized be use my blood pressure was going crazy.. I should have said look at my chart because every dr visit and appt they always to my I am obese.

I having my moments but trying to stay calm and relax. Especially kissing and hugging my little one this morning before he goes to camp. Have to be at the hospital at 9:30. Thats when it will really hit me. Let's do this losers bench here I come.

Hello friends! Sorry I've been a bit absent lately. So I've got my surgery date- August 6. Doing the sleeve with Ultimate Bariatrics in Fort Worth. I start my 2 weeks pre-op diet tomorrow which consists of Protein Shakes, sugar free Jello, pudding, and popsicles, and Soup for dinner. The last 2 days are Clear Liquids only. Any tips for getting through this pre-op part would be appreciated because I have a feeling I'm going to be hungry a lot. I've been having a lot of food funerals, took photos and measurements, I've got my Vitamins and stuff. Thanks everyone!

I agree with the staying busy, my surgeon recommended not watching TV to avoid food commercials and I’ve unfollowed all recipe pages on social media, lol. Been reading a ton of books, that’s really helping me stay busy.

Any advice for us nervous pre-ops? How was your experience?

I’m glad you are doing better. Thank you for posting your experience with the VSG. I’m so thankful you are doing a lot better and healed. You provided a lot of insight and excellent advice in this post. I really appreciate you being honest and talking about this experience in the best positive way . Omg so funny I have a friend that was once interested in having VSG surgery until she found out that she wouldn’t qualify for it. So now she does the keto diet and every day all the time she will call me to brag about saying how much weight she’s losing how she so happy with this new diet which is great. I encourage her all the time to stay on track but don’t get me wrong sometimes I’m like shut the f**k up this is all I hear Keto for hours I try changing subject she goes right back .she will not stop talking about Keto drives me crazy and she takes pleasure doing it. Now she talks down about me having surgery.

@shrinking_wildflower I know what you mean. My youngest son is home for the summer (back to University of Missouri at Columbia in the fall) and is clueless about how to help me. My husband is the same way. They mean well, but they probably wouldn't even notice if I was bleeding out from my eyeballs.
Most men just don't have the ability to "anticipate needs" the way women do. Babies need things, and we just have the ability to sense (most of the time!) what they need. We're naturally wired for it. I truly believe that.
I love all my boys, but they're clumsy caregivers.

I can hardly believe this as I write this, but I tomorrow I will be officially 2 months post op. It's like it doesn't even compute in my brain. The first week post op felt like a month. The next almost 2 months felt like a week. I am proud of myself for making it this far.
Now I will admit, it wasn't easy. It went quick, but certainly wasn't easy. The one aspect that I truly underestimated was the fact that eating would be problematic. Not eating itself, my sleeve is pretty much made of Iron and could tolerate things I honestly had no business tolerating (solid food 3 weeks out? No problem! Steak? Easy Peasy! Broccoli? Delicious!) but be that as it may, my struggle has been with food. Not tolerating it... but actually remembering to consume it! It has honestly been my biggest struggle to date. I have to have reminders on my phone just to remember to eat my packed lunches. I have zero hunger. I am at times to lazy to eat. Never thought I'd say that...
So despite that, how am I doing? Pretty damn good if I do say so myself! I am down 62lbs since I started on this WLS journey, and 35lbs since surgery. I will say my loss has slowed fairly significantly, since I dropped 20 or that 35 in the first two weeks, but that's okay! I've increased my activity so its to be expected.
So what are my next steps? Fitness! I've joined Orange Theory Fitness, the first class broke me. I still wonder if I actually died that day and exist as a very convincing ghost. Who knows. But I'm going again tomorrow because I apparently love suffering. Wish me luck!
How is everyone else doing? Still hitting your Protein goals? Still drinking shakes? (I make my own and they are muuuuch more satisfying then drinking the RTD ones straight. Still take them in my coffee though )

My sister says things like that from my past experience with weight loss dieting so that’s why she doesn’t know about me decision to have surgery. No one knows but a handful of selective people and wonderful support group

No mu,little buddies I have not, but I believe I am entering the Final Countdown. Yesterday Monday 7/09/18 I received a call from Jennifer at OSU Bariatrics- all insurances have said Surgery for Frustr8 is a WONDERFUL IDEA. Go right ahead!
So I meet with Dr Needleman, my Bariatric Surgeon 7/17/18 at 11:15 AM. Hope he,likes me, but then how could he not? I am a fine obese specimen of womanhood, am I not? So after,he and i have our little tete -to -tete I should be given my surgery date, which of course I will gleefully publish somewhere on Bariatric Pal. Knowing me it could be most anywhere so keep your eyes peeled.! Probably on the Summer 2018 one. And that brings me up to date!😛📆😛

I've got one person in my office that has had similar responses. She is also large and is on the Keto diet now. I'm happy for her that she likes doing the keto plan, but she's in her 60s and she has yoyo dieted for years. If it was that simple, we would not have the high obesity rates we have. I just let her blather on. She means well but is misguided in thinking I am interested in another diet plan like keto.
