Has anyone tried the Gene pro tasteless Protein mix? You can get it on Amazon. It also mixes with food, and drinks. Just wondering?

I am so excited. I have already lost 10 pounds on my first 8 days of preop diet. My surgery is scheduled for July 4th. In Tijuana, with Dr. Ortez...... I hope I get to meet some of you there. I’m not sure how to use this app yet, so maybe some of you can show me how to follow you, and stay in touch. 👍🏻

Hey guys! So I’m up early (4am here) so that I can get to the hospital at 5:30 for check in. I am a bundle of nerves, and even have quite the turning tummy! I hope it goes away once I get there! Anyways, I appreciate any prayers and well wishes for today. This is my first surgery ever! So I’m not sure what to expect. I can’t wait to join everyone on the losers bench! I’ve been working towards this for so long!! Well thank you guys and I will check back in later and let you all know how it went!! 🌟💜🌟

I think it depends on what you consider normal. Unfortunately most western diets normal means highly processed foods, high sugar and high fat which is a deadly combination

If by normal you mean lots of veggies, unrefined carbs and healthy Proteins and fats then no problem, sounds like a good maintenance diet.

For myself as I get close to goal it’s becoming clear for me that I will always want those things and will have to manage myself to some degree. It’s not that I don’t eat the occasional sweet or chip, but I do manage for the vast majority of what I eat is not triggering old cravings or a slippery slope.

It probably depends a lot on what got you overweight to begin with and what triggers old patterns.

I’m 56 years old, and live in Jackson, Tn. I am having gastric sleeve surgery next week. Super excited!!!! Preop has went really well. I have already lost 10 pounds in 8 days. That’s amazing for me. I do not lose weight easily, because I also take meds for a sluggish thyroid. Looking for good things ahead on my weight loss journey with you all.

Hi all! 54 here, had my RNY in February and have gone past goal, lost 102 lbs so far! Still firmly in the honeymoon/miracle phase here, can't believe I've been so successful. Thought for sure my age would put me at a disadvantage compared to all those youngsters having surgery at the same time, but strangely, my lifelong experiences with diet and weight loss gave me the advantage here. I know WAY more about the psychology of overeating than my youthful counterparts. I don't have to worry about pregnancy and PMS cravings. I'm already past the age of trying to impress young men with my outer beauty, and have already established that my inner beauty and health is much more important.
The downside to all this is that I've had to make adjustments in my social life. Drinking at parties and gatherings has been greatly reduced, which makes me a lot quieter, and some read that as less social. I can't have the obligatory pizza and beer at football parties, bringing my own Snacks instead.
Also, I sag. Everywhere. Not a ton, not so most people notice, but it makes me look old. My kids think I look much younger, but my clothes hide a lot. I'd love to have a full-body redesign, starting with those chest-pancakes that once filled out a D cup, but now look silly in a B, unless amply shaped and padded. But after 2 breast fed children, that was bound to happen anyway.
I am so glad I did this, and none of the down sides even come close to the up sides. Arthritis reduced, BP reduced, A1C back to normal, off CPAP machine, no more plantar fasciitis, and I can shop in the NICE stores for clothing! My feet have even gone down a half size, so I can sometimes wear size 10 shoes! (Those with large feet understand the struggle).

@@choosehope Yay - ladies my age! I'll turn 54 next month. I had bypass 4/21/15 and had my 5 month anniversary this past Monday. I took pics and will share them with y'all. As hard as it was to take those "before" pics, I'm so glad I did. I took pics in three different outfits. I took them again at 3 months and now at 5 since I hit a personal goal of "75 lbs" lost. I can't believe how that once tight 3X now hangs on me. It was my son's suggestion to hold my shirt out to show the difference. The black outfit is a size "L". Haven't been in regular size clothes in years. I have hit stalls along the way after my surgery but have upped my Protein to average an of 125 grams, keeping within my 850 calorie goal, so that seems to be doing the trick. I've been battling obesity for 30+ years so I will take my success and be happy with it as I feel blessed to have had this life changing operation. It's my second chance at life and I will NOT squander it!!!

I constantly run into Sleevers in their 50s and 60s but I would love to get to know some of you who are bypassers. Seems our life experiences and potential difficulties may make us good support for each other! (You know, little things like menopause, arthritis, etc...). Please come out of "hiding" and gather here. I need to see yall in action! And would love to support you as well!

    I switched to Unjury brand.
The unflavored can be added to whatever you like. *I routinely put a little extra in my greek yogurt to make it "super yogurt". When I was still on liquid diet, I'd make "protein jello" or pudding with extra Protein with it (SF, of course). Unjury also has a chicken Soup flavored one. It's a little high in sodium, but when you've just had enough of the sweet Protein Drinks, it's very satisfying.
Caution: putting Unjury in liquids >140 degrees makes it sort of curdle. So, I wouldn't cook with it or put it in extra hot water/milk. The hot Water dispenser out of the company coffee maker seemed just perfect. If I was at home, I would temp check before adding the Unjury.

You can add unflavored powder into any flavor of Soup, just not too hot, as @S@ssen@ch said. I add it to oatmeal, too. And congrats on 30# in 6 weeks. Awesome!
Also, the Protein waters are not as sweet as the shakes. They're still sweet, but not as much and the texture is lighter.

Just had my month and a half check up (30 pounds lost!) And talked to my Dr about Protein. Premier and like drinks make me very nauseated. I tried non whey, and they are better but still make me feel off.
I was wanting to try something maybe not as sweet, hoping it's just that the chocolatey/vanilla/strawberry drinks are too sweet, so thinking of trying something new. Was wondering if anyone had any that they suggest and like? I saw the Protein Shots on here, but my Dr said I would need 3-4 a day, and at $10 for a 4 pack I can't really afford it. I also saw the Liquid Protein that you can mix with your own fluids, wondering if anyone had tried those and like those?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Currently just getting my protein from meat, cheese and nuts, but I know I need more protein. Thanks!

My surgeon wanted me to lose 40 more lbs before he scheduled my surgery. However, I am a woman of faith, and when I left his office I was devastated. We were supposed to set a date that day. So I got in my car and I prayed, God if this is your will let it happen. On Friday June 15th, I got a phone call saying you need to call and lets set a date for your surgery. I got this message after 5. So I had to wait through the weekend. They called me back first thing Monday June 18th and set my date for July 2nd. I already had a weigh in appointment for Thurs June 21st. They made that my pre op appointment. Everything for me is moving super fast for me now.

I order off the kids menu if they have decent options most restaurants do and you are doing great just give yourself time to get over your ear infection. Most times people get weak when sick and fall out of their normal routine just get back to it when you feel better
