Congrats on having the surgery and also for asking for help! That's the 1st step with anything!!! You want to start back up and that's huge! I'm just a couple weeks out of surgery so I'm no expert but I do try to find positivity with most things. It's been rough for me too. I lost my mom on dec 20th and had my surgery on the 26th. So yea..I havent been top motivated to do anything! What is helping me get through each day is the fact that I have each day to get better. It's one day at a time! Start slow getting as much Protein as you can. Try to eliminate the carbs and go from there. This isn't a sprint! It's a life long marathon that we can get through. We had the surgery so we could better ourselves. So that's what we need to do. I'm here if you need someone to chat with

Kick butt man. That's some great progress. I love the sleeve. I know what you mean. I'll be eating, I'll take my last bite, suddenly realize I'm full, and I'm happy to stop there. It is a crazy difference from 15,000 calories a day before surgery. I was always a huge portions person. When I was a power lifter in my late teens and early twenties, I was also a competitive eater. After I stopped working out constantly, I didn't knock down my food intake and the obesity followed. Now I don't have a choice but to eat small portions and I couldn't be more greatful. You look great man, I'm glad the surgery has been such a success.

I can’t believe you have had so much success with "so little effort"? One does not have to become a gym rat or to workout 1 or 2 hours a day to continue to lose weight. If you eat low carb and high Protein and do a bit of exercise each day you can get results.
  4. Congrats!

Here's what losing 250 pounds looks like on me.

I had my sleeve surgery in November 2016. Pre surgery weight was 470. After 2 week pre-op diet I was 440. This week I weighed in at 220 pounds. That's 250 pounds LOST and it's been easy. I am insanely glad that I made the decision to get this surgery. I've heard stories of people who gain weight back after this surgery, and it baffles my mind because even 2+ years later I still get full so quickly. I can't imagine how anyone can eat too much with such a reduced stomach size. I know instantly that I cannot eat anymore once my stomach is full. I know instantly that if I took another bite I would feel physically ill. Anyway, I am beyond happy with my health and the way I look. From a 58 waist to a 36 slim fit in jeans.
    Yay me!

I was at my heaviest in 2014, I always had a smile on my face and felt somewhat confident for the most but deep down inside I wasn’t happy with my overall health because I knew it was only going to get worse if I didn’t make some serious changes. I finally took back control of my life on 8/29/18. WLS

One of the best decisions that I’ve made for myself and going forward. 💯

I also find that writing my feelings in a journal helps. It helps release my anxiety and I can't eat while I'm writing.

I'm going back to basics with the new year. I didn't gain, but I did indulge myself and now I need to keep my healthy habits going. I did my walk early this morning and I am on my 4th glass of Water. I am caring for myself again. I am worth the effort. 🐵

I didn't start losing until after 3 weeks and then it was really slow. by the third month something kicked in and weight started falling off. I think our bodies go into shock and need to readjust to our new eating and attitude.

I will be 65 yo 01/08. I got “sleeved” 12/26. It’s 8 days out and I’m doing great. Lost 11 lbs. I had a few Constipation issues, but that’s resolved. Ready for this great energy everyone talks about. Ready to experience this new lease on life God has given me!

I had my surgery 5 days before turning 50. I’m almost 10 months post op and down 104 pounds. I am 7 pounds away from goal.

I am healthier than I’ve ever been in my life, work out with a personal trainer one day a week, eat a high Protein diet, and get to buy really cute clothes now. 🙂

The easiest way to travel this road, and the most satisfying, is not to try to compare your potential trip to anyone else’s. It will suck every ounce of life out of you.
Just take each day and get the most out of it. Enjoy each moment.
Even if you are 54, 5’6” and start at my exact same weight, your journey to your goal will be a completely different series of losses, stalls, fits and spurts.
Be feisty, fierce, willful and wise! Follow your plan and you’ll have this!

Some of this is also about prevention. Diets don't work for you or you wouldn't have gone this far with surgery. If you weigh 235 at 40 and chose not to get the surgery, how much will you weigh at 50? The surgery is most effective if done early in the obesity process and you will have less issues with excess skin etc. Don't chicken out. I am exactly one week post op and it's been an easy recovery. No big deal at all. Just do it.P.S.I am a 5'10" man with a heighest weight of 256 and a surgery weight of 231 and a BMI at surgery of around 34. Statistically speaking my odds of reaching a BMI of 25 is around 85% and my odds of hitting a BMI of under 30 is 95%. Should I have waited to get up to 300 or 350 to do the surgery when my odds of success drop significantly--pushing me to consider more invasive procedures like RNY or SIPS? Of course not. I have T2DM and this was a no brainier for me.

I had my sleeve done last Wednesday at Blossom, and they are as advertised. That practice is a well-oiled machine, and less than a week out I am feeling surprisingly good. I did not even have much in the way of gas pains. The worst of it was the side effects of the anesthesia and anti-nausea meds, which was gone within 2 days of surgery. I seriously debated flying out on day 5 or staying an extra day, but really wanted to get home to recover rather than stay in a motel room. I was able to fly as scheduled on Friday without any problems.
I am post-menopausal and had reached a point where after years of yo-yo dieting, I simply could not lose and keep off weight. Last summer I tried a diet clinic and ended up even worse off, gaining back 15 pounds I had lost earlier in the year. YouTube's Dr. Weiner says that weight loss surgery is basically a one-time offer--only redeem if you cannot lose and keep weight off any other way. I feel I had certainly reached that point, and I had the surgery with a BMI around 35. I am down 16 pounds since I started my pre-op diet December 1 (a few days early). In comparison, earlier in the year it took me about twice as long to lose the same amount, and I plateaued after losing 25. This was on a low fat, low carb, low calorie diet that was torture the entire time. I am glad that I did this after entering menopause, because I rapidly gained a lot of weight at that time and hope that the hormonal aspect of weight gain is behind me now, so that my redeeming this offer will result in a lifelong improvement in my health.

So much of what you feel in the beginning is head hunger. We are so used to eating that it's kind of like a mourning period. I went through counseling which really helped me learn food is fuel, not entertainment. That being said, I ate many sugar free popsicles. I also changed up my liquids. I used Soups and added plain Protein powder. I pureed my favorite soups to the liquid stage. This way I still had the flavors I enjoyed. I also added chipotle tabasco to chicken broth. It wasn't easy in the beginning, but now I am no longer obsessed by food and enjoying life. Good luck to you. Don't be afraid to try new things.

I had surgery in April and it has not been easy, but it is the best thing ever. I was constantly losing weight and putting it back on and more. My husband was scared for my surgery, but I turned him around by explaining the process. I had 6 months with a nutritionist prior to surgery and saw a psychologist too (this was the most helpful). I am down 90 lbs with mostly walking. I have only thrown up once, but it was from eating an overly sweet dessert.
I have a bunch of foodies in my house, I now just eat a little form their plates when we go out or I order a small appetizer. My back no longer hurts (I was considering back surgery), I am no longer diabetic and no longer have high blood pressure. I finally told myself I deserve to be taken care of and I did and continue to do the homework.
Good luck on your journey whatever you decide.

The best thing I do for me is see a psychologist. She has helped me be prepared to better deal with stress and the changes I am going through.

Im in the process of getting rid of my regain. I am just going back to basics. Getting rid of all the excess unnecessary junk and sweets. Drinking more Water, less carbs and just following the rules. Its hard at first but honestly it gets easier by the day. You just have to get rid of temptation in your home. Do some research to reacquaint yourself with the basic rules. Take more steps every day. Im trying to go back to my hour long walks. It's a process. Im a little over 2yrs and i find that i actually like my intolerances lol. They stop me from making bad choices.
