    Cleanliness after surgery

I think you’ll be okay. But also- ask around- a lot of people struggle with having a BM after surgery, so the silver lining to that is you shouldn’t be in a predicament all too frequently.

    Highest weight

Popping in from obscurity! I wish I had commented on this before. I think my personal goal was 170. I’m now almost 1.5 years post op and have been plateaued in the upper 220s (give or take 5 lbs) for about 8 months. I seem to be able to tackle brief regains I’ve pretty easily and get back to this weight, but I have not been able to get beyond 220s. I probably don’t look like I weigh this much, because I’m on the taller side of average height and have always weighed more than I looked like I did. I would still like to make onederland, but because of my struggles with getting there, I’ve just been focused on increasing my weights at the gym and overall fitness so at least I’m accomplishing something. I also know the biggest key is diet and I’m always looking for ways I can clean that up. So yeah- I’d be happy to hit 199, but I still feel pretty dang fit at my current weight.

Gosh, idk if I could do IF. I get hannnnnngry. I’ve looked into Keto, but kinda want to stick with just trying to stick to/adopt a healthy lifestyle vs something I’m unlikely to stick to long term.. if that makes sense?

Hey all! Checking in. Hope everyone is still crushing goals. I’m now 13ish months post op. Been stalled for a few months, but just focusing on eating clean and getting fit, scale be damned. It’s hard not to focus on the scale, because even though I see the physical changes from working out- I’m still bummed the scale doesn’t seem to want to budge. Just gotta keep on, keepin’ on. I just try to appreciate all the good this has brought me and not take any of this health for granted. :)

    Overtraining & Stalls???? Frustrated.....

That's the basic effect of training after all. A body getting more efficient doing the work. It’s true. My watch doesn’t even register my daily walk as “exercise” these days. My trainer has said that when you hit a stall, the thing to do is work out twice as hard. It is a bit of a delicate balance, eating enough to properly fuel workouts but making sure not to overdo it or eat the wrong things at the wrong times.

    Overtraining & Stalls???? Frustrated.....

Just chiming in as a fellow post-op fitness fan... I’ve personally noticed that as the weight has dropped and training has made me fitter, I actually need to train harder to get the same results that I used to get. Why? It takes a lot more effort to get my heart rate up and keep it up now. I really need to push myself to get to 140bpm during a workout. What’s your heart rate at during your workouts? However, building muscle is supposed to increase metabolism, so whether or not you’re burning calories during the workout, your metabolism should see a boost from the muscle mass you’ve built up. Good luck!

I’m at about a 5. Came home from father-in-laws family reunion in Southern Arkansas on Monday. My souvenir from the trip is a pretty solid head cold that is hopefully peaking today. Work has been nutso since I returned and I’m PMSing which means everything and anything is testing my patience. Husband is out with friends tonight and I’m relaxing at home, so I’d say we’re up to a 6.5. The silver lining is that I don’t get sick that often these days and it usually blows over quickly now. One of the perks of now being a non smoker and taking a boat load of vitamins. 😂
  8. I am 30 lbs less than him now... he’s trying to clean up his diet now to lose some.

    Alcohol

I waited about 5 months. I’m nearly 9 months out and have drank about 4 times. For me, if my stomach is empty, alcohol will hit me really quickly and a little goes a long way. Now granted, it’s been a few years since I was a regular drinker, so my tolerance hasn’t been high for awhile... but yeah, strongly recommend pacing yourself to get a handle on what your tolerance is. I never drank and drove before- out of an abundance of safety- but I can 100% say that post-surgery, I do not/should not drive even after just one drink. So please be careful!
  10. Hubbs is probably bit on the overweight side. Not obese, though. Never had nearly the weight issue I did. My immediate family was/is heavy. Mom is low-carbin’ it and kicking butt right now. Dad’s passed but had lost a bunch of weight just before getting diagnosed with cancer. Older brother has weight issues. Two older half siblings that didn’t/don’t have weight issues. One was chubby as a teen but has been a thin adult his whole life.

    Nutribullet vs Ninja

So I had a nutri bullet before surgery and killed it pretty easily with making smoothies. The ice burned the motor out. I picked up a ninja blender on Black Friday two years ago and it worked like a champ for me post-op. I still use it for the occasional protein shake when I’ve got a sweets craving. I don’t think I’d buy a super pricey blender just for the purées stage. It’s such a short period of time!

Where to shop for regular size work clothes?

Sooo when I was dropping sizes quickly, I totally relied on the clearance racks at Kohl’s and Target. Now that I’m dropping sizes a little more slowly, I’ve fallen in love with Loft! Such beautiful garments and I get so many compliments!

    Help with quitting smoking

Wellbutrin helped me immensely when I quit!

Great!!! I was hoping you might be interested! What’s your “must be at least this warm to hike” temp? Mine is about 45ish, which we should hit in the next month.
