    Hi All,
7 month out and I am about 15 pounds away from goal and finally under 200 pounds. Started at 318 and down to 198. My dr stated that getting the last 15 pounds will take some time and now that I am so close to goal. Feeling good and so happy with my decision.

Great job everyone! I am a month out from my 1 year and have hit my first goal but going to keep going until my body decides to stop losing. It has been slow the past 3-4 months with only losing about 2-3 lbs verses the 12 plus previously but I couldnt be happier. I have lost close to 140 lbs since I started my journey and about 80 since surgery. Keep up the good work everyone!!

I see this is an older thread but wanted to comment on OrangeTheory. I did this for about 4 months and it was an awesome work out. It probably was the fastest, I got into cardio shape since being an athlete in my teens and 20s. If you are a competitive person and need accountability (have to sign up for classes in advance and if you are a no show you get charged at 15 fee) this will help get you to the gym and the 1hr class time goes by quickly. No two classes are the same which gives you variation and you will learn some strength training exercises that you can do on your own or at a normal gym. The only downfall is that it is super expensive (169 buck a month for unlimited classes), I only stopped because I had to relocate and couldn't afford to keep the membership.

The top two pics are after losing just over 175 pounds.
    High weight: 389
    Surgery Weight: 369
    Current weight: 208......soooooo closeeeeee!
    Bmi 55-29!
I have gone from a size 28 and 4xl to a size 14 and a large in tops. Almost a 12. I cannot believe it.
I love coming and seeing what we have accomplished. It can be so overwhelming to think of how far we have to go in our journeys but the time is going to pass by. If an effort is made, your effort WILL show.
I did not exercise every day. I did not drink five gallons of Water a day. I did not remain strict every single day. But I did my best, and I did better this year than ever before. We don’t have to be perfect to see changes.
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season!

    HI,
Sleeved on 3/28 and have lost 52 pounds since surgery and the Hair loss has been terrible. I have very thick hair and it is just coming out in clumps when I wash it. I discussed this with my NP at my surgeons office and she suggested taking extra Biotin and increasing Protein intake. It has helped as the hair loss seems to have slowed. I am hoping it nearing the end as she said to expect it for another month or so. For those that are experiencing some stalls, I suggest upping your Water intake and your calorie intake (good food choices). Every time I do this it jump starts the weight loss again.

Hi Ladies! I think I’m a little further out than most of you but I wanted to share in case I can give anyone else hope. I’m nearly one year out from surgery and I’ve lost 70kg (154pounds) since then (no pre op program as I’m Australian). I started at 156 (343pounds) and I’m now 85kg (188pounds).
Today I feel like a million bucks!

    Hi Marchers,
I was sleeved 3/14 and I'm down 50+ pounds, but weight loss is very slow for me at this point. I actually haven't even weighed myself in a week or so. Zero surgery regrets here -- I am much healthier than I used to be. I am eating between 1000-1200 calories a day in four meals, and I'm comfortable with this being my new way of eating (not a "diet"). I work out at the gym and I'm getting muscles (at 54!!). Strength has increased 50%, measuring total weight lifted in a typical session. I am still planning on losing another 20-30 pounds even if it takes the rest of my life!!
Hair loss is happening, but not the heavy clumps I've seen others report -- more like a strand or two (or three :-)) when I run my hands through my hair. I started using Olaplex in order to keep what I have healthy and strong. I've been fanatical about taking my Vitamins.
    Stay strong, Marchers!!

LLG1981 reacted to Missouri-Lee's Summit in Should I be offended?!
I do not care for my surgeon as a person, but as a surgeon I know he's well-qualified. Obviously, it would be great to have a surgeon that didn't talk and behave like an ass, but if you're willing to overlook his bedside shortcomings in exchange for a competent surgeon, then feel confident that you made a good decision.
Do I find your surgeon's comments inappropriate and sexist? Absolutely. Would I have wished that I had the perfect comeback when he made his disparaging remarks about women who want to build healthy muscle? Absolutely. My guess is that you're mainly peeved because he got away with saying what he said, and you weren't able (out of sheer disbelief perhaps) to challenge his asshattery. Instead of being able to express yourself fully with him, your only outlet (and a less satisfying outlet) is to vent here.
I doubt if I'm alone as a woman in feeling hesitant to speak up for myself. As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, I often "flew away". It took years of therapy before I could rid myself of that shame.
In some ways, I was conditioned, as are many women, to be shrinking violets. There's also the issue of status involved in your case. We've been taught to respect certain professionals, doctors included. So, here you are confronted by a male doctor who completely caught you off-guard by basically equating unattractiveness with muscles. Heck, we're already fat and feeling bad about that, now to be told that to build muscle is unfeminine. Wow. Imagine paying an insurance co-pay to hear all this crap.
It's important for you to be a strong self-advocate. You are taking a life-changing step with weight-loss surgery, so why stop there? For your own self-respect, I'd politely but firmly revisit this conversation by letting him know that you were offended by his views on women who lift weights and press him about whether there is a medical reason for you to not lift weights or if this was just his subjective view.
If you read my profile statement, you'll discover that I had a negative hospital experience with my doctor. Yes, I vented like crazy here and elsewhere, but as soon as I saw my surgeon at my first follow-up appointment walking down the hall (I was actually supposed to see a nurse practitioner for this visit), I approached him with confidence, touched his arm, and said, "Dr. S---, I am not very happy with you. In fact, I'm very disappointed." He was so taken off-guard by my bluntness that he escorted me into the exam room and spent 45 minutes worth of damage control on me. You can imagine the bewilderment of the nurse when she walked in and he was with me. She probably thought she was the one in trouble. The point is, I took back some of the dignity that I felt had been taken from me previously.
Yes, it was "just" a statement about muscles, but where do you draw the line? You wouldn't be here venting if it didn't bother the becheezits out of you.
Believe me, you'll feel better about yourself for at least trying to stand up for yourself. It might not go over well, maybe you feel clumsy getting out your words, but it's better than saying nothing. Practice self-advocacy until it becomes second nature. The older I get, the easier it's becoming. When you don't speak up for yourself, you are essentially giving the other person the power and permission to put you down.

I really like your attitude because its not solely about how many pounds lost. I was sleeved 3/5 and down 32 lbs since surgery. My weight loss has slow down to the tune of maybe 2 lbs a month BUT with the weight training I'm doing my body is changing. Every time I look in the mirror there is something different or smaller about my body and it is very noticeable to others.

Definitely more I third of and confident. I was pretty assertive and confident before but now I feel like others also respond more. Not sure if that makes anything. Just more self assured and not consumed with where I’m sitting, how I am sitting, whether or not people can see how heavy I really am…That is all gone. Like a weight lifted emotionally.

For me, So much has changed during my going on 7 years of this whole process. Going from 370 lbs to (my current) 258, it's just night and day overall. My health, attitude, stamina, outlook have all improved greatly. I'm eating better (more now thanks to the bypass) than I have EVER. My family has reaped the rewards as well, all of them are thinner, healthier and happier than they have been. I'm in the Gym every day again, I've always loved the gym, but getting to be super fat made going to the gym pretty much impossible for all the reasons one can imagine.
I bought clothes at Kohl's yesterday, like... I didn't have to go to some specialty store for fat guy clothes. I almost cried.
