dede1118 got a reaction from Jodi1980 in regretting my sleeve
Its completely normal to feel this way. I was sad at first too but it does pass. Right now you have FOMO. All I can say is the food will always be there. Now you have to find other ways to occupy your time. Its just now becoming clear that food was the center our worlds revolved around. I'm 6 weeks out and 32 lbs. down. This is the best decision of my life. Believe me it does get better.

    Hello All,
I am a little over 5 weeks out and 30 lbs. down. I am 12 lbs. away from Onederland which I am very excited about. Some of my clothes are starting to fit big and most of my clothes are just starting to fit comfortably. This surgery has been a big confidence booster. I am feeling a bit tired but I attribute the fatigue to my lack of Protein. I'm in my soft foods stage now so I'm going to try Protein Bars because I'm tired of Protein Shakes. Mentally, cravings and hunger are getting easier. I'm really happy for everyone, this was the best decision we could've made for ourselves.

I think it’s completely normal to miss our old lifestyles. I get cravings but learned to drink hot tea or munch on a bite of cheese or cottage cheese to get through it. I dont eat every time I get a craving though.
We need to learn to get active when cravings hit. In time we will learn that we feel better making healthier choices as well.
Take up a hobby it helps get through the liquid and soft foods stages. I am 21 days post op. Lets cheer each other on!
Cottage cheese is my new love! Lol!

@Controvento It's Comforting to know that I'm not alone. My husband has a naturally athletic build and so he can't really relate. But I'm glad that we all have this outlet to express what we're going through. I'm sure we'll feel better when we're off this liquid diet. If anybody even says the word Soup I'm punching them in the throat lol JK

I am 11 days post op. And I find myself feeling a bit down. Part of it is because of this liquid diet that I'm so over. I have to force myself to drink liquids because I'm so over it. But another part is I feel a void that cannot be filled. I underestimated Just how challenging this was going to be Mentally. It's crazy but I actually started having thoughts of regret thinking about how I can't eat the way I used to. I've been writing in my journal and that's helped but I just wonder if anyone else is feeling the same way.

Yes totally. I was looking at my stage 2 list. Im starting to eat flavors of yogurt. So it helps. I have pushed it to see what I can tolerate. Went good and bad. But it's definitely a struggle

    Hi
I am 14 days post op and it is hard. I have had similar thoughts but I have forced myself to think about the future and not here and now. Time passes so quickly (even if it feels like one day is lasting forever ) but soon the benefits will start to become apparent and we will be glad we stuck it out. Remember why you decided to have the op in the first place. Be positive I know it’s hard but it can be done xx

Salads with grilled chicken are definitely the 1st thing I'm going to eat when my can eat solids again. I'm sure it's just the food restrictions right now that have me feeling regretful but I'm sure it'll pass. I can already see a difference and so can those around me so that's motivating

What about protein02. It is Protein infused Water. Not bad tasting if cold. It has 15g of protein. It will help you get water and protein down.

I am honestly not really counting water/liquid intake. As long as I'm peeing I take it that I'm getting enough fluids. The Protein I am tracking and so far today I've had about 30 grams of my 60-80 goal. I am burping as well and the gurgling was non stop until today. There are time when I sip and I feel this tightness in my tummy as the Fluid goes down. Its not all the time but I stop for about 15 to 20 minutes until I try sipping again. This may be TMI but I have gone #2 maybe like 4 times already and its been very watery. My incisions are starting to itch today as well (No drainage). I also have been cooking for my daughter and husband and it made me a little sad that I couldn't eat lol I have to keep reminding myself that this liquids stage is only temporary.

My next appointment is next Friday...I am praying I can move on to soft foods. I know food should be off our minds, but I want to eat "healthy" solids and start doing all these bariatric friendly receipes...Im really excited about eating dehydated Fava Beans. Gosh, who gets excited about that? Only people on a liquid diet that just had bariatric surgery because its like a step up from liquids..lol

My surgery was on the 15th as well. I didn’t have very bad gas pains- a couple in the chest but they went away soon. How much are you eating? I’m between 1-2oz every 3 hours. Mainly sticking to Protein and focusing on getting in Water, but both have been hard to get all. My stomach likes to gurgle and i burp quite a bit. I usually take it as I am full. I don’t really feel hungry or full.

So I had surgery on May 15th! The day of surgery I was so excited that the day had finally come. I tried to take in the moment and remember as much as possible. Let me tell you as soon as that anesthesia is given to you it is LIGHTS OUT! The next thing I remember is waking up in pain, my throat was super sore and irritated (that didn't last long for me that pain was gone the same day). Then I knocked out again and when I did wake up I was already in my private room. My husband was amazing and super supportive and was like my own personal nurse helping me get out of the hospital bed to use the RR. The day after surgery I was able to drink Water but honestly did not want to. Days 1 and 2 were the worst. Mostly just pain and GAS PAINS( walking really helps)! I'm 3 days post op today and I honestly feel so great. No need for any pain meds and the incision sites themselves are just a bit sore. I'm drinking primer Protein Shakes, broth and crystal light. Tomorrow I'll try Jello but my main focus is the Protein shakes. I go back to work on Wednesday and I feel completely okay to (desk job). Anyway that has been my experience so far. I hope everyone is doing well. And for those still waiting on surgery let me tell you it gets better. Just remind yourself that the the pain is only temporary.

Mine has done this as well. He said I was doing so well on my Paleo/Whole 30 diet for the past 3 months, he didn't think I needed to do the week or two pre-op liquid diet. Just Clear Liquids the day before.
I'm scheduled for a 5/23 date, and I have decided to do a more Keto diet for the week before the surgery just to be safe.
I'm having the last of my planned "food funerals" this weekend. I had Pasta with homemade pesto with 2 slices of really, really good sourdough bread last Friday night, 1 glass of Bailey's on ice last night, and this Friday I'm having homemade pimento cheese on Wonder bread with BBQ kettle chips. Weird choices, I know, but that's what I came up with when I thought about what I truly wanted to have that I may not be able to have again (or for a very long time).

Mine is on the 15th as well and I only have a 24 hour liquid diet to flush out my system. No formal pre op diet but surgeon did want me to lose weight in the month and a half wait I had until surgery as that will help shrink liver. I have been following a high Protein, low carb diet to get in practice for after surgery. Also these last 2 weeks I have been doing a modified version of what other surgeons recommend just to boost the weight loss. Figure it can’t hurt!
