I had surgery on 11/29 and I’m trying to not focus too much on the numbers on the scale or on my clothes.
My non scale victories since 11/29
Had to have a spacer put on my wedding ring
    I’m wearing a coat I haven’t worn in 2 yrs
I got rid of my pre-surgery work uniforms
I’ve cleaned my closet twice already
What are your non scale victories?!

So far I'm annoyed with medications. I was on 4 prescriptions for weight-related conditions before the surgery. Of those, I stopped 1, and the rest I'm on half the dose I was on before the surgery. Ever had to split 30 tiny pills in half? No fun! Plus the Vitamins and supplements, plus the ursodial...hasn't really been a net loss for me.

I have this suit I bought to go on a cruise in September that was a shade too tight then. Today I brought it in to have it taken in and the tailor said it’s too big on me to take in. “You lost a lot of weight?” he asked. “Yes, I lost a lot of weight” I responded.

So last week I had to have an imaging test done. The tech had to line up the machine where it needed to be over my abdomen, usually they feel to see where your ribs and hip bones are for landmarks. She walked over to me saying "I need to press on you a bit to line this up", then she looked and said, "Oh, never mind, you're so skinny I can see where it needs to go." And I was wearing jeans and a thin t-shirt! She had no idea how strange that was for me, I still can't believe I was referred to as being skinny!

I guess in a way this is a victory but my wallet does not see it that way
I was real carefull not to spend on new clothes that i would drop past real fast. I did go thru 3 belts in the last 7 months.
What i didnt think about was the shoes. I got new shoes for all the walking and the gym and realized today that they are just to dam big now. My bloody feet shrank. Hardly seems like there is much room for fat in the feet but there was enough to for it to be an issue.
hopefully only the one time - can't be that fat footed

Nice work! The reduced pain is huge, I noticed the same thing. I think general inflamation goes way down when the pounds come off as does the stress on your body.

It took a long time for me to be happy with this, but it finally happened on Sunday night, when I watched my brother-in-law load up his dinner plate with chicken wings and I was happy I wasn't doing that any more.

I have some shoes, bought them either a day when I'd taken an I bet dose of basic or early in the day before standing up at work. Another lady said her feet went down to in width and a shoe size, want to rock these shoes even if they aren't F M heels. What to know What, Does FM stand for? Okay you come out of bathroom or bedroom clad in a pair of very high heels nekkid, you look at the man in your life and utter a 2word phrase. Yeah that is what very high heels are called, like 3in.+. nasty but the truth. Why at 72 would I put on something that if I fall, and it's 8 to 5 I will, give me floor burns on not-exposed to the sun areas. And any guy my age is either going to die from a heart attack, stroke or blindness from the glare off of all this white flesh. Yeah another reason, for me to,lose weight, I'm keeping the male half of life from such a traumatic death. Yes men , you're perfectly welcome, I feel it's the least I can do.
Not the usual NSV you're looking for, but I do what I can do!👈😜👉

3 months post op. Most of my NSVs are clothing related - down to a 1x from 3x. Shopping starting to be fun again! Just bought a shoes in W rather than WW! Can cross my legs! And my primary care doc reduced my bp meds last week and so far, so good on the bp!
Hubby calls me "puny human" because I'm getting small. He sees it more than I do - body dysmorphia!

Had a memory the other day of when I was a kid and loved running through the mall. Going full speed dodging people as I ran. Used to feel awesome how I used to love running. "NSV's" I'm coming.......

I'm only 2 weeks post op, but for the last 2 days have noticed that my clothes for work are just too big to look professional. Started digging in that section of my closet that I've been saving because "one day I'll be able to wear it again."
It's so nice re-discovering your clothes again. Also nice when your clothes aren't so tight that it's hard to sit/breath.
Today had someone in my office go out of their way to come tell me how great I'm looking.

Nearly 4 months since surgery and pretty much all of my non scale victories have been clothes related and that is fine for me.
I'm able to do up two coats that before I couldn't do up and they're not tight on me when done up which is great. All my clothes are baggy on me, I'm wearing jeans I haven't worn in years, its great.
Besides clothes, my general health I know is much more improved. I can walk a lot further now and while after a long walk my feet will still ache (I am big after all) I no longer get back pains which is a massive boost to my walking regime. I think this is my most important victory.

I was on the beach the other day and wanted to get somewhere fast so started running... and kept running not out of breath at all for half a mile. I’ve never been able to do that. I went for a short jog this morning and this afternoon plan to see how a mile or two feels.

I'm still 8 days pre-op, but already 8 kilos (approx 20lb) down in the last 2 months as I cut out carbs and then started VLCD 2 weeks ago.
Already had to retire my old PJ pants as they were so loose on my legs they'd ride up above my knees overnight, and today one of my pairs of pants was too loose in the waist for me to be comfortable to wear them in public (I dug out my old size 22 work pants from 2 years ago and put them on instead).
I'm looking forward to many nsvs, including being able to cross my legs properly!

10 months since surgery. The other day I realized that I can squat all the way down with butt near the floor, and get right back up, no using arms or anything!! I ran right to my 15 year old son’s room and asked him if he remembered 10-11 years ago when he fell down in a little wave at the beach, and I got down and caught him, but I couldn’t get back up so I just held him and couldn’t lift him out. I vowed then to try and get to where I could squat down and get back up. When I was fat I never could do that. Now I can! He remembered and was proud of me.

I will pipe in. I had RNY September 6th 2017 and I never had a problem. Yes there were times at first that I either ate too fast or two much and instead of feeling miserable I decided to throw up. It didn't come up on it's own, I actually had to use my fingers down my throat but after it came up I felt so much better. I haven't thrown up in a couple months now, I have tried to throw up after eating too much but it just doesn't happen.
I was on a 1 week pre surgery liquid diet but with the Protein Shakes I never felt hungry. I actually lost about 25 lbs that week. After surgery I was on liquid diet for about a week and then moved to soft foods for 2 weeks and then ate what ever I wanted as long as it was all Protein. 1 month after surgery I was told to get off the protein shakes and eat normal foods.
The last 4 months I have eaten 4 oz of cottage cheese for Breakfast, a Lunchable (just the meat and cheese) for lunch, an all protein snack when I get home from work and then normal food for dinner (just a smaller portion). I choose to stay away from bread, Pasta, and potatoes (I do have them occasionally but not very often). I don't eat much fruit or vegetables I depend on 2 chew able Bariatric Vitamins and 2 Calcium capsules to get my nutrients and have done very well on my blood tests.
My diabetes is cured, I used to take 6 injections a day to control it. I am off my blood pressure medicine and high cholesterol meds. I am also off the omeprazol that I took for gerd. Currently I do not take any prescription medications.
16 years ago I blew my knee out for a 2nd time and was told I would never run again. I hate to prove the doctors wrong but 3 weeks ago I started running again. My first run was a little over 3 miles in 40 minutes (non stop).
I started out at 265lbs and for the past 4 months have been at a steady 193lbs. I wanted to get to 165lbs but to be honest I could care less if I ever get there. I feel great, look great and am very happy with my life.
The RNY surgery was the best choice I have ever made, I would do it again in a heart beat.

Awesome! I had my 10 day post op appointment on Monday with my surgeon and was cleared for purees and Vitamins starting tomorrow. My incisions are none existent, you can barely see them which surprised the nurse and the surgeon how well they have healed. I am able to drink Water normally and have no issues getting 64oz plus a day and getting in two Protein Shakes to get my 60 grams of Protein. Honestly, it has been a really great recovery and I am so thankful. I will take those first hard 12 hours for such a quick turnaround. I am looking forward to starting the next stage and hitting the gym to do some strength training now that I have been cleared.

OMG Jess, i never thought of that, i've already lost some fat pad from my soles due to age, now I'm going to lose more due to weight loss? Oh s**t, has anybody out there seen the Stock Exchange reports today? I've got to call my broker and see if I can buy stock in Dr Scholl's? I'm going to be a definite customer! At least with less weight pushing down maybe my foot bones won't pop through but they may still stay sore. Oh as the carnival barker said " You pays your money, you takes your choice!" It will be worth it to have the rest of my body thinner, I'll put up with footie[emoji119] pain. And if I get small enough there will be a boy toy or 2 to carry my cute cougar body around. Rowll purrrr![emoji197]
