I had the gastric sleeve surgery the beginning of February. I was fine for about 2 weeks after. I started vomiting after anything I ate (and the most I ate was maybe 3 teeny tiny bites of something). Then I couldn't even take a sip of water without vomiting it back up. Then I started having food aversion. I couldn't look, eat, smell anything food. I spent my days vomiting, dry heaves, and it would last all day. The doctor did a ton of tests....some of them twice and said it was just something that could happen to maybe like 1% of patients. I was admitted to the hospital twice. The second time was for dehydration and malnutrition. While in there the doctor inserted a feeding tube in my nose that bypasses my stomach and goes straight to my intestines. I actually had it done 4 different times and it was terrible. This last time I was sent home with it and now I have 12 hour feedings out of a bag during the night. I am so weak. I haven't driven in probably 6 weeks. I've been only wearing Depends for the last month because the feedings give me terrible diarrhea and not to be gross but my body gives me no notice so I never make it to the bathroom without having an accident. I am nauseas and feel sick to my stomach every day. The tube is supposed to come out in the middle of May but there is no way I am eating enough food by mouth because I feel sick all the time. I would give anything if I could go back in time and I would have never had this procedure. It just isn't worth all of this. Today I was at the ER because my feeding tube was clogged and wasted a whole afternoon there. I guess it doesn't really matter because I don't do anything anyway. I'm seriously at my wits end. I know this isn't what most people experience but it has been mine and I'm sick of it. I'd rather be 335 lbs again. Is there possibly ANYONE who has had something similar happen to them? I don't know how it is ever going to get better. Thank you in advance to anyone with any suggestions.

I truly am so sorry you have had this outcome. I wish i could offer words to help but i can't.

I read about stenosis and the sleeve and too much scar tissue formation causing excessive vomiting. I would check with my dr or get a second opinion. It sounds to me like that could be an issue considering it started so quickly after surgery about the time scar tissue would start forming. I am not a doctor but it is a worthy thought. Stay strong hang in there it will get better I thought I had problems cause I couldn't take a Doo Doo my wife put on a glove and pulled it out I'm three weeks post op I love the new me ...I will be praying for you and everyone that has the surgery and to GOD be the glory cause during surgery my kidneys fail woke up throwing up so much blood this is no easy task but with faith and support you will make it though

Have u had another endoscopy? I have known people that have developed a small flap of tissue over the top of there stomach so the only thing u can do is throw up cause there is no way for it to enter the stomach

I cannot relate to what you are going through, but I do sympathize with you. I’m so sorry that you are going through so much. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

There ARE people here that had this same thing happen. Ultimately, they had regular bypass done, and feel 100% better! Look up in the search bar "wish I never had" and see if it pops up. I will try to find the link too so you can message her! She was SO discouraged, but things really turned around for her!

I am so sorry this has happened to you. I cannot relate to this but I have read stories and seen some people’s vlogs about this exact same thing. And they have all over come their issues with a little bit of time.

i read a story where one young woman had to have a g-tube for a few months because of her aversions to food and not keeping anything down...her body just needed time to get use to her new life. Literally all of our senses change.

Maybe you can see a GI doctor and they can get together with your surgeon to help you more.

I too was in this same situation after having gastric sleeve last year. Mine was due to a stricture in the middle of the stomach pouch. This was found by doing an endoscopy. I was on picc lines and feeding tubes for dehydration and severe malnutrition. My doctor decided the only option was to revise to the full bypass. (This was after he attempted dilation and placing a stent). Having a revision was not ideal but at 4 months out from revision i am glad i did. No more vomiting i have regained my strength and best part no more tubes coming out of my body. Message me if you want to talk more.

I’m sorry about your experience with the sleeve. I had a terrible experience as well but mine wasn’t like yours. I got my surgery in November and by December I was throwing up non stop. I was admitted for four days because of the vomiting and then I was allowed to come home. In January I ended up being rushed to the hospital by ambulance because I lost consciousness in the shower and fell. I ended up losing all the fluid in my brain and had nerve damage in my leg. I’m almost 6 months out now and I’m doing great. I’m happy I got the surgery but I’m saddened by my outcome. I’m glad you’re okay. If you need anyone to talk to I’m hear to listen

Thank you so much! That must have been terrible. I'm usually a positive person but this whole thing has me wondering if it is ever going to get better. I honestly have no desire to eat and feel nauseous and sick to my stomach all day long. I have this stupid feeding tube in until the middle of May but I know I have to eat for them to take it out. I just don't see it happening. I never thought my experience would be like this or I never would have had the surgery. I know there are people who have it much worse in one way or another but I am so tired of being sick and tired. Thank you for the support. It's nice to know there is someone to talk to who went through something similar. Although, I'm sorry you had to go through all of that. What was your turning point to feeling better?

My niece had this experience and like this poster mentioned she had an emergency bypass and all of her problems went away.

I can't imagine having another procedure done. With the luck I'm having it will make it even worse.
