  1. I had my surgery 2/7/17 starting out at 335. I now weigh 198. I'm very happy with how far I've come but I didn't reach my goal weight by the first of the year like I had planned. I have a special occasion coming up in April and I really want to lose the last 48 pounds by then. I don't know what else I can do to lose it. That gives me about 11 weeks and I don't know what to do to lost that much weight in that amount of time. Please don't think I'm not thankful or grateful for where I am. I'm so much healthier. But I just want to be at my goal weight. I eat a low amount of calories and I'm moving much more. Maybe I need to up my physical activity but I feel as though that will make me more hungry. Any suggestions?

    48lbs to go...help!

Thank you! Congratulations to you as well on your weight loss success! I'll let you know if I figure anything out.😉 You have a year and you've come this far I know you can do it. Even if it's slow, it should be doable by December. Good luck and congratulations on your daughters wedding! How exciting!

    Any February Sleevers?

Oh my gosh! I feel EXACTLY the same way! It's nice to know I'm not alone. And also, when you think about it, it's your own personal medical information. Everyone doesn't have to know all about it. Thanks for your posting!

    I wish I never had this done...help!

I can't imagine having another procedure done. With the luck I'm having it will make it even worse.
  6. I had the gastric sleeve surgery the beginning of February. I was fine for about 2 weeks after. I started vomiting after anything I ate (and the most I ate was maybe 3 teeny tiny bites of something). Then I couldn't even take a sip of water without vomiting it back up. Then I started having food aversion. I couldn't look, eat, smell anything food. I spent my days vomiting, dry heaves, and it would last all day. The doctor did a ton of tests....some of them twice and said it was just something that could happen to maybe like 1% of patients. I was admitted to the hospital twice. The second time was for dehydration and malnutrition. While in there the doctor inserted a feeding tube in my nose that bypasses my stomach and goes straight to my intestines. I actually had it done 4 different times and it was terrible. This last time I was sent home with it and now I have 12 hour feedings out of a bag during the night. I am so weak. I haven't driven in probably 6 weeks. I've been only wearing Depends for the last month because the feedings give me terrible diarrhea and not to be gross but my body gives me no notice so I never make it to the bathroom without having an accident. I am nauseas and feel sick to my stomach every day. The tube is supposed to come out in the middle of May but there is no way I am eating enough food by mouth because I feel sick all the time. I would give anything if I could go back in time and I would have never had this procedure. It just isn't worth all of this. Today I was at the ER because my feeding tube was clogged and wasted a whole afternoon there. I guess it doesn't really matter because I don't do anything anyway. I'm seriously at my wits end. I know this isn't what most people experience but it has been mine and I'm sick of it. I'd rather be 335 lbs again. Is there possibly ANYONE who has had something similar happen to them? I don't know how it is ever going to get better. Thank you in advance to anyone with any suggestions.

    I wish I never had this done...help!

Thank you so much! That must have been terrible. I'm usually a positive person but this whole thing has me wondering if it is ever going to get better. I honestly have no desire to eat and feel nauseous and sick to my stomach all day long. I have this stupid feeding tube in until the middle of May but I know I have to eat for them to take it out. I just don't see it happening. I never thought my experience would be like this or I never would have had the surgery. I know there are people who have it much worse in one way or another but I am so tired of being sick and tired. Thank you for the support. It's nice to know there is someone to talk to who went through something similar. Although, I'm sorry you had to go through all of that. What was your turning point to feeling better?
  8. I've been going through something so similar. I too, wish I never had it done. I've been hospitalized twice and now I have a feeding tube at home that I have to leave in because I was so dehydrated and malnourished. I wondered how you were doing now. I hope better.....for your sake and for mine. I would love to see a light at the end of this tunnel. Please let me know how you are doing. Thanks so much!!!!

    Tonight’s Dinner Picture.

That looks great! Do you eat everything on the plate? I am 6 weeks out and I can only handle 2 or 3 bites of food and even with that I usually end up bringing it back up. The only things I've found that stay down is 1 scrambled egg or a few apple slices that I take about a half hour and really tiny bites to get down. I also suck on jelly beans throughout the day. That's pretty much it. I know I'm not getting the nutrition that I need. I have a doctors appt. next week so I will talk to him about it. Did you have trouble keeping food down in the beginning?

    Post-op anxiety

Check with your doctor. I had the most horrible pain I've ever felt in my life (and I've given birth!) on my right side in my chest and rib area all the way around to my back. I could hardly take a breath. I didn't know what was wrong. I suffered through it for 2 days to wait for my scheduled doctor appointment and he sent me right to the hospital for an MRI with dye. Long story short, I had pleurisy (fluid in my lungs and inflammation in the area) which can be a side effect from surgery. It's 11 days later and I still have a little pain and just a little shortness of breath but it was nothing to mess around with. I wish I had gone to the doctor as soon as it started. Good luck with everything and I pray that isn't what you have.

    Portion size

Hello, I had the sleeve surgery on 2/7 and I've lost 37 pounds starting from the pre-op two week diet date. So I am 3 1/2 weeks post-op and it has been so long since I have had an actual meal that I'm wondering if I ever will again and if so, when that would be. I am so grateful for the tool that I have but will I ever be able to, let's say, eat a regular serving of lasagna or a slice of pizza? I know these aren't things we are supposed to eat and got some of us here in the first place but I don't see why maybe once a week we couldn't have something like that. I feel as though I'm never going to be able to eat in a restaurant again. The only "real" food I've had is smooth egg salad with very little low fat mayo. I could only eat maybe 1.5-2 Tbsp. total and I was completely full. I know the whole point of the surgery is to get full faster and with less food but I didn't think the portion size would be that small. I know I'm only 3 1/2 weeks out but is this how it's going to be or will it change and when? Thank you...

    Liquid diet depression

I am near the tail end of my liquid diet. At least you have protein bars! Mine is pure liquid and it sucks but it is so worth it!! I feel for you. I've been there....I have surgery on the 7th and I can't wait! Hang in there!!!
  14. I'm having surgery next week and this is my worst fear!!!

Mine is 2/7 too!!! Always looking for sleeve buddies....I can't wait!

    Any February Sleevers?

    February 7th here! I can't wait!
  17. I was so afraid this was going to happen to me but I luckily will be done a few days before my surgery next week. Honestly, I know many nurses and believe me, they have literally seen it all. It doesn't even phase them. They are so used to doing that sort of thing. If you think about it, in labor in delivery they deal with that all the time. The nurses are trained to do it all so don't even think twice about it. Just relax and they'll take care of it. Good luck....You will do great!!

    Four hours postop

Excellent point katkatlady612!!! That's a great way to look at it. I'm going to have to remember that. My surgery is coming up soon!

Help! Not meeting protein and water intake.

I haven't had my surgery yet. I'm having it in 2 weeks but I just wanted to say hang in there! I'm guessing it can only get better and that it is just going to take time. It's a good thing to keep in touch with your surgeon which it sounds like you are doing. I want to wish you good luck and I am sending positive thoughts your way.
  21. This is my second question in 2 days but I'm at a loss at what to do. I started the pre-op all liquid diet today, which I will do for two weeks before my surgery. I drank 60 oz. of protein shake and completed my water intake. Here's what I don't understand....my husband and I were getting dinner ready and I opened a carton of chicken broth because that was what I was going to have for dinner. I thought it smelled terrible, he thought it was fine. I sat down to eat it and it tasted terrible! The rest of my family tasted it and said it was fine. I'm allowed sugar free pudding for a snack so my son got me one to try. I could barely swallow it. I thought it tasted terrible. Then he got me a chocolate one and that too tasted horrible to me!!!! This was my FIRST day of the pre-op liquid diet. I was somewhat nervous today but I don't understand the whole food thing. I know they say sometimes AFTER the surgery foods may taste different or seem less appealing but why is it happening now? Has anybody else had this? Is the taste thing all in my head because I'm nervous about the surgery? I would love any opinions any of you may have. I don't want to second-guess this...HELP!!

Having Gastric Sleeve and I’m scared!

You sound just like me! I'm having surgery Feb 7th and I'm scared to death! I'm not a "young sleever" but I know exactly how you feel. I started going through the process of having the surgery about 6 years ago and I backed out. Boy, do I wish I could go back and change that decision. Other people have read my post about being afraid and were very helpful. I feel much better now. Also, I had my gallbladder removed and had gas pains after the surgery. But nothing that you can't get through if you have them. You got this!! Just stay positive and get through it one day at a time. That's what someone told me so that's what I'm doing. I think it's great advice....not easy, but still great advice. You are going to do great and so am I!
  23. Thank you! I didn't think anyone would comment because it sounds so crazy. Thank you for the advice and suggestions. I really appreciate it! I'm going to try some tomato soup tonight and see how that is. I forgot to pick up popsicles but I will definitely do that tomorrow. Thanks again...
  24. Hello, I am starting my pre-op liquid diet tomorrow and my surgery is scheduled for 2 weeks from now. I've been reading some of the posts and they are really scaring me. I was nervous before but also very excited about changing this part of my life. Is there anyone out there that has had a positive post-op experience? Also, is it true that if you have reflux prior to surgery that it will get worse after? Thank you so much.
  25. Sorry folks....just typing this to see if the ticker comes up.
