KatesJourney got a reaction from Frustr8 in Light Headed when standing
Congrats on your weight loss! I started to experience this same thing 4 weeks post-op. Come to find out my blood pressure was VERY low. After losing significant weight, I no longer needed my blood pressure medication. So grateful for my sleeve!

KatesJourney got a reaction from eso0402 in What is the weirdest thing you have experienced POST OP?
Weird, vivid dreams that I remember when I wake up. The first week post-op they were about high fat, high carb, hi-calorie foods I was eating in the dream. Woke up anxious, thinking I screwed up, lol!!! Next came a few weeks of random celebrity interactions. I've hung out with Tom Brady and Giselle, Vince Vaughn, Prince. Dreamed I was breaking out of prison, too. I'm not even going to comment.

KatesJourney got a reaction from Happy2lose13 in How long off work/disability?
I have been off 5 weeks so far; my leave is 6 weeks. I am an O.R. nurse, and the job can be very physical at times. In addition to that, getting fluids and Protein in can be a real challenge when there are no scheduled breaks; you take one when you can. It may be 5-6 hours into my shift depending on what surgery I'm involved in.
It's also hard to predict "bumps in the road" during your recovery. I lost a week or so due to severe swelling/unable to tolerate fluids. Ended up in the ER for fluids. I had seriously low blood pressure by week 3 that caused dizziness, almost passing out a few times. Come to find out, I no longer needed to take my blood pressure medicine!!!
Everyone's journey is unique. I personally would have been unable to do my job until week 4 or 5. I plan on enjoying this last week off while I feel great!

Hi Kate! I too am an OR nurse! I had bypass on March 26th! Yes! Getting my fluids in has been a huge struggle at work- I went back after 5weeks and should have taken longer as I was exhausted the first couple of weeks! As you know- most ORs are hurting for nurses- so I guess I bargained before I returned to work as I knew they needed me-I asked my manager and director if I could keep a water bottle in our sub sterile so I can step out occasionally to drink- thankfully they agreed. I’m good if I get 32oz in while at work- I have had to leave work early as was pretty dehydrated and weak- couldn’t even process clearly- the next week got 2liters of fluid( after 6sticks as I was so dehydrated!) but felt so much better! Listen to your body- talk to your supervisors - they are in medical field and hopefully will work with you!

Doctors key into disease, Nurses key into health and improving lives, Can you detect a little bias here?

Great to hear from you both! I've been an O.R. nurse for 25+ years; not sure if I'm more nervous or less because of that fact, lol! Anyway, if anyone has any questions about being a surgical patient, ask away! Looking forward to checking in with you both as we move through this journey.

Hello I am having sleeve surgery on 5/23. Since its after midnight here I am 2 weeks away ahhh. Lol it's nerve wracking and exciting. This is my first surgery ever so I'm trying to keep my nerves down but I am starting 2 week liquid diet today. My doctor let's me have a small meal a day with it so not too bad. Anyway good luck to you as well and I'm excited to share our successes on here. It's a very emotional journey for sure and we all can support each other here. :-)
