  1. What would you like to know specifically? The surgery process? Post-op pain? Eating after VSG?

    Smoking and surgery- munchies!

Premier Protein's double chocolate crunch or Pure Protein's chocolate salted caramel! :D

    Smoking and surgery- munchies!

I eat a low calorie protein bar when I get the munchies. It keeps me full for a long time (usually until the munchies go away)

    THC after surgery

I smoke daily and consume edibles every other week. Never had any issues besides increased head hunger. (I normally solve that by just snacking on a low cal protein bar after smoking). I have noticed that edibles hit me a lot harder now, too. A little too euphoric for my taste. My surgeon only asked me not to smoke for a couple of weeks after surgery because smoking can increase the chances of blood clots. Plus you don't really want to end up having a coughing fit after having stomach surgery. Not fun at all.

    Sleeved Monday

It took me about 3 weeks to finally feel like I could drink something without the intense pressure pain in my chest. Surgeon said it was from the gas and the swelling of my stomach. Oddly enough, using a straw helped with my pain. They say straws can cause more air to be in your stomach, but I haven't had that issue! (I'm not a doctor, but that's just what worked for me!)

one week post op weight stall

Yeah! Measurements will be your best friend in this process. Sometimes I feel like I'm not losing weight fast enough, but I went into surgery wearing a size 20-22 and I wear a size 12-14 now. and it's only been 3 months. The number on the scale can only show you some much! There are much better ways to see the progress you've made good luck!!!
  7. I agree with Tealael. Sometimes we need to go back to basics, and that also includes going back to seeing your dietician/therapist. Life can get hectic, but we still need to make time for our health. Easier said than done, of course!

    Catheter During Surgery?

I had one but they removed it before I woke up. I did get a UTI though. You could just ask your surgeon about it when they come in to see you before going into the operating room. I made it very clear I didn't want to wake up with a catheter in me!

one week post op weight stall

My first week out from surgery, I lost 8lbs. Mostly fluid. Then didn't lose a single pound for 3 weeks. You just had surgery and your body is trying to adjust to everything. I'm now almost 3 months post-op and down 35lbs. It takes time, but it'll work. Stop weighing yourself and keep your stress down. It's easy to get obsessed when you want instant gratification.
  10. I had that too for the first 2 weeks after surgery. I think you just have to wait it out It gets better though when the swelling in your stomach goes down!

    Psych Evaluation

During my Psych evaluation I was asked about my home life and if I had a support system; and I was also asked about my mental health, if I understand that the surgery is just a tool and not a cure-all. I struggle with depression but I passed my psych evaluation. I think it's because even though I have depression, I expressed my understanding about what the surgery does and that I had a great support system. It's normal to feel like you don't have answers, the doctor you work with should be patient and give you time to answer their questions good luck!
