No one is saying eat whatever you want but healthy carbohydrates aren’t the worst thing at all. The thing we are learning right now with our surgeries is moderation. I think you shouldn’t have food as an enemy and I think if you are far enough out from your surgery where it is healthy and you are getting enough Protein and even exercising, healthy carbs are great.

I have one word for you: LASERS! Better than electrolysis, way more effective! I did it about 8 years ago and within 4 treatments everything was GONE. I go back about once a year to do a touch-up cycle, and it is absolutely worth it. I was so thrilled that I also lasered my legs; my leg hair was so thick and coarse that even when I shaved it, you could see the stubble through the top layers of skin like ground pepper sprinkled on my shins, but I haven't even touched up on it in years and I have maybe four hairs that come in very thin.
I'm in the same maybe-PCOS boat as you are, with all the symptoms except the actual damn cysts. When I finally snapped and started the lasers it was because I wasn't just irritated by shaving, I was getting a ridiculous number of ingrown hairs no matter what I did. And though I really hate to say it: I think my facial hair's come back a little stronger than it used to post-op. But maybe that's just my body temporarily freaking out, I don't know! And I'm going to zap it back into oblivion soon.
One caveat: laser works best on dark hair and light skin. As a Translucent-American with very dark hair, this made me pretty much the ideal candidate; I can't say if Irish redheads or dark-haired Kenyans would have the same luck. For them, electrolysis might be the better bet. I know some groups don't mention that up front, so buyer beware.

What I think is awful....is how people here are continually encouraged to do what doesn't work.
How many hundreds of posts have we read that go like this:
"I lost all this weight by self denial and will power and eating a very restricted diet....and I'm so sad and disgusted with myself that I put half of it back on. HELP!"
And what do these people routinely get told here?
Go back on your diet that was unsustainable...and didn't work. Try harder. Deny more.

    It's crazy. And it's unhealthy to yo-yo.
There is no harm in illustrating a DIFFERENT path supported by science. No one is forcing anyone to do anything.
There are and always will be a variety of options and opinions.

I’m sorry! That’s awful! I heard about co workers talking about my body once and I felt awful. But you are doing a great thing for yourself with school and weight loss and I think sometimes people get rude when people become successful. They want to find a way to put someone down because they feel bad about themselves. Keep your head up! You are doing great beautiful lady!

When you are dehydrated and on a crash diet basically your body is going to retain as much Water as possible. There is no way at this point you won’t lose weight. I started with my surgery the exact weight you are almost a year ago and I now 11 months post op and have lost 100 pounds, my weight loss was consistent but a little slower because I was bad and didn’t follow the regulations for part of it! You are doing great! Just Take is easy on yourself, you will lose weight and the slower you lose weight the better for your skin and hair. Just follow the dietary guidelines, walk a little when you feel up to it. Keep a water bottle with you drink lots of Protein Shakes. You are doing great! Now that I am a year post op I am doing and feeling better than ever and feel like I wasted a lot of energy worrying about little stuff. The first six months after my surgery I felt like I made a mistake because I wasn’t taking care of myself. But now I wouldn’t change it for anything !

I'm excited and scared for this process. I start my liquid diet on Thursday. Any ideas besides broth, shakes, and Jello? What kind of shakes can I use?

Hey lady ! I am with you! I had my surgery in July and I am now just this lady few months getting my Protein and Water in. It’s a work in progress! You have made such a wonderful choice! The first couple months are going to be hard, I regretted the surgery from the start, but you will do better! The food being gross is good because it helps you break some bad habits. Don’t cheat, it will just cause you stress and anxiety and possible medical problems. But you will start to like food again. You aren’t supposed to be able to eat and drink enough in the beginning. This is a lifestyle change and things will get better I like the Premier Protein pre made chocolate shakes. They taste like hot chocolate if you microwave them for like a minute. I had my surgery July tenth, went back to work the end of August, (I’m a correctional officer) and am doing great now. I couldn’t see myself skinnier either but I was 275 before my surgery and now I am 195. Everything will be fine! You made a great decision! Message me if you have any questions! Good job!

I had a sleeve done but yes, lot of people go through a depression phase. My surgery had some complications so it took longer to bounce back. It's easy to get down when you're limited on what you can do and eating/drinking is a chore. More so since we've all obviously struggled with food and not being able to go back to old (bad) habits of eating when feeling down makes it all the more difficult. Try to keep yourself as busy as possible. Whether reading a book, doing what activities you can (hell I remember being happy to run the vaccum when I finally had enough energy), or any other hobby it helps to keep yourself occupied. By the end of my 2 1/2 weeks off of work I was pretty miserable being at home that long.

The upside is that it will get better. As you heal up and it gets easier to eat/drink more and you can start adding more foods into your diet you'll see a big upswing in your mood.

supplements can help but I can not stress enough how helpful therapy is during this transition. They can walk with you through the highs and lows and help you make sense of some of the upcoming changes we will all be going through.
