    Moving on to Solids!

I had a lap band to sleeve revision on April 16. I started eating solid food at 14 days. I started with salmon and green Beans. Then had mahi mahi with some slaw mix. I have had no problems as of yet. I have had chicken, tuna, turkey. Have not had ground beef yet, but going to try that this weekend. For Breakfast scrambled egg with sautéed veggies (zucchini, onion, mushrooms - cooked well), grits, steel cut oats, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries … the raspberries did create some acid for me … and strawberries today so we will see. I think my stomach healed much faster than most because I used Bone broth in my liquid diet. Bone Broth has 9 grams of Protein in each 8 oz. serving and the purpose of bone broth is to heal the gut (if you have gut issues) … so since I mostly eat a Paleo diet 85/15 … I cook and use that a lot and I really think my stomach was fine at 10 day! I have lost 13 lbs. in 3 weeks and I am ok with that! All I can say is that I can eat again. I had so much trouble with the lap band that I threw up almost everything I ate! It was depressing. How I can eat healthy again! Also … looking forward to my first salad … maybe this weekend!
  2. I had my revision on April 16th. I have seen a lot of comments about individuals not being able to get their fluids in. I have had no problem getting my fluids in from the beginning and have started on soft (pureed) foods and am feeling good. I have not ate much when I do, but am having no problems (except some stomach acid). Is there anyone else who is feeling this good and not having problems with Fluid or food? I seem to read all about the problems and wonder if something is wrong that I am not having any???

    Holy heart burn!

I had the same issue. It felt like the stomach acid was burning my esophagus. My Dr. put me on Protonix and it has really helped. The Dr. said that this is common for the first few months with sleeve surgery.

    Newbie on here

Hi Diane I am Janelle. I too had a band in 2008. It failed in 2012 (had it repaired) lost most of the weight I had gained. Then we moved a year ago and about 6 months ago I realized that it wasn't working again! Test showed it had slipped. So I went in for a revision. I too have BCBS FEP. It did take a couple months but they approved me. I too had gained about 30 lbs. The one thing that I did was to talk with the nurse at BCBS once they had all my paperwork. Luckily I got to one of the supervisors and she pushed my case through. You have to advocate for yourself and then make sure the insurance company advocates for you. I am 11 days post op. Not having the band in has brought a sense of relief. I can eat without restriction, pain and throwing up! I thought I would have more resistance but I have read that people who have the revision sometimes don't feel it like the people who just were sleeved. Which is ok for me! I lived way to long that way! When I say eat please understand that I am still on liquids and some soft foods (eggs, etc). Probably once I get on food it will probably feel different. If you want more info about BCBS and how I did that I am going to leave my email address here for you. Good luck on your new adventure. jmshields122@aol.com

    Feeling down

Need to get more liquid protein. Go to a local natural grocers (ie: Whole Foods, Sprouts) and get BONE BROTH. It has 9 grams of protein in 8 oz. Then use one egg and scramble it. Slowly whisk the egg into the boiling broth. You have egg drop soup and 13 grams of protein!

    Any April Sleevers?

I am two days post surgery from a lap band to a sleeve. Also had to have a hernia repaired. I have a couple of issues if anyone out there can help me. I have a intermittent pain in my left shoulder ... sometimes it is really intense. Not just when I drink either. Does anyone else experience this and how long does it last. Secondly, I am hungry. My surgery was outpatient and when I got home I was hungry. I have had my protein shakes and bone broth with an egg white mixed in and tea and water. Any suggestions for curbing the appetite until the grenlin leaves my system?
  12. Happy 53rd Birthday jmshields!

  13. Can anyone tell me what a blockage feels like? I was banded 2/8/08.
