Very successful surgery. Normal BMI and had settled in at 151 and normal BMI. This lasted many months until I got careless and started grazing and adding sweets. My weight increased 4 pounds in a short amount of time.

I’m getting back into my plan, 3 high Protein meals per day and two healthy Snacks, not drinking with meals, and at least 60 ounces of protein and fluids per day. I refuse to allow myself to negate all my hard work.

    Dear Lorena,

The reason you feel awful is the lack of Vitamins. This is also caused no your Hair loss. If you can’t keep down the Multivitamin, just use the Patches. They are extremely effective...I have the lab work to prove it. It is hard for me to understand how you’ve been to appointments, and they haven’t checked your levels. Seems like malpractice to me.

I’m assuming your Iron levels are extremely low and you’re anemic which would make your skin ashen and terrible looking. Start the Multivitamin Patches immediately if you can’t get to your doctor. Also, add the iron patches.

We talk a lot about what should be our average weight loss and how fast we should lose post-op. I saw these two graphics today and thought they were very helpful to allow us to visualize a realistic idea of how fast and what percent of weight we should lose at 3, 6, 12, and 18 months.

This may sound dumb, but simply not having to hide in loose, black clothes. I actually feel comfortable wearing colors again!

Hey ChicTrying. Don’t despair. The best advice I can give is start with 3 simple rules. 64 ounces of calorie free liquids per day, 60 grams of Protein and following the 30/30 rule. Practice them for 30 days until they become a habit. It sounds like grazing is an issue for you. Having three meals and 2-3 healthy Snacks a day may reverse the grazing trend. Best wishes, and so glad you are seeking psychological help!

Hi Susunorm! This was the same way I felt at two weeks. I just reread the texts I sent to close friends, and I said I was struggling with buyer’s remorse and wish I’d never done it. What a difference a few months make! I am 59 years old and feel like I’m in my twenties. I just entered the 170s and am so proud.
Please don’t allow the first weeks or month to overwhelm you. Just follow the plan and the weight will come off. Trust this tortoise...slow and steady wins this race!

I want to take a moment and thank everyone who replied to my post!
First let me start with I have been so far in my head even my surgery date was off!! Its 2015 not 2014 and i am only 3 yrs out on the 15th! That being said.....
I ordered a bunch of Protein items and shakes I love, completely cut out all the CRAP that even remotely was touching my day to day routine both food and person wise - toxic people can be huge triggers!
I am proud to say I am 100% back on track with eating and getting my mind right! 5 days and made it through the headaches from the detox off any remaining small amounts of caffeine and am eating 1200 or less cals a day typically about 950-1000 and over 120 grams of protein~ Not hungry had a couple cravings but had good planning and healthier choices on hand which I know is key!
I have been walking a lot more and using my arc trainer and though I shouldn't have I did for haha's jump on the scale today and I am down over 6 lbs. I will stay off the scale except for 1 time a month and if I have a MD appointment I must we weighed at tell them I don't want the results told to me.
Most importantly hopefully very soon I will be back with a psychotherapist to further rectify my issues with eating! We all can do this and we all are important, and though the mental game we can play on ourselves is ROUGH, no one is a failure, as my grandma would have said when she was alive, *I haven't failed, I only found a way that isn't, wasn't, or didn't work for me! Now I must find a new way to have it happen the w2ay I want!* So these words have become a mini mantra for me!
I will find the way that works - so long as there is air in my lungs I will fight the best fight forward I can, and thank God for the humility to know when i have fallen and need some help I just might not be able to give myself at that time!
I will keep you all posted on my progress - If you private me I can provide you my FitBit name or My Fitness Pal link so we can encourage and help each other out! We all empower each other in our own ways, and some of us may take something from all anyone on this thread has said with out responding.

i know of someone, an older lady, who had gastric bypass surgery at a hospital in Georgia.
the next day, the daughter brings a box of Cinnabons to her in the hospital room. they proceed to start eating them. she tears open her new stomach and has to go into emergency surgery to save her life, cleaning cinnabons out of her abdomen.
moral of the story? there seems to be no limit to the stupidity of most people in this country. it is infinite and almost beyond the imagination. while some bariatric offices are better than others at preparation and patient education, none of that really matters when dealing with the average American.
    look at our president.

Gundy got a reaction from Beachladee3 in Afraid that I'm going to let fear of pain prevent me from going through with surgery
Honestly, it wasn’t that bad. I only needed pain meds for the first few days. After that, Tylenol did the trick.

I looked at it this way. My back, my knees, and the grooves in my shoulders hurt every day before surgery. They don’t cause me pain any longer. Every day long-term pain vs acute pain for a day or two. It’s a choice.

This is my scale of pain...
    endometriosis 9/10
    slipped disc 8/10
    hysterectomy 8/10
    kidney stones 6/10
    gastric sleeve 2/10
I had some discomfort, but it was gone within 2 weeks. Stick with it - you'll be fine!

Ugh. While I do sympathize and validate the feelings expressed here, someone has just GOT to talk about the elephant in the living room with the pink tutu on!
Reality check here guys...your brains are totes SCREWED up! I don't know what does it. Maybe it's all the fault of My 600lb Life? Dunno...
But OP you've lost 14lbs in ONE WEEK (by your words Aug 21 thru Aug 28--that's 7 days if math serves me). Let me repeat that and shout it out for you: YOU'VE LOST 14 LBS IN ONE FREAKIN' WEEK! Instead of being busted and down, you should want to turn cartwheels. That's amazing! Congrats! Turn that frown upside down and get ready for the very common "3 week stall" that happens somewhere between weeks 2 and 4. You will likely average anywhere from 2-4lbs/week. This is not magic surgery. And WL will never be linear. It's the best thing that's ever happened to most of us. (And for the record? I've NEVER lost 14lbs in one week. EVS.)
    .
I honestly want to ask if you're pullin' our chain? Cuz let's do some more basic math: August 21 - Sept. 4 = 13days. In 13 days you've lost 20lbs. That is WELL over 1lb per day. LOL. That's phenomenal and you can't possibly hope to keep that up. It won't happen. Please read above at the 3week stall phenomenon.
You ladies, need to reality check your brains and reframe how you look at this surgical intervention. This is usually about slow steady progress--not huge losses overnight. But some DO experience those dramatic losses. Hell. You are both experiencing it right now.
Dig in. Sit back. Do the work and enjoy the ride. Cuz the weight loss WILL happen unless you screw the pooch. And nobody wants to screw the pooch.
Congrats to you both. I'd trade places with either of you in a heart beat.
