  1. Oh, try the PatchMD! I was fed up with all the pills, particularly the three giant calcium citrate pills a day. Now with the patch my only pills are 25 mg of Cozaar, omeprazole, Strattera, fish oil, fiber pills, and Sennokot. And the patches are only $20 for a 30-day supply!
  2. My wife and I split a two-piece meal from Popeyes a few months ago. I ate the chicken and drank the drink, she ate the red beans and rice and the biscuit. Dinner for two, $7!
  3. I only tell people who ask. Why lie? One of my team members that I've been working with for four years asked me late last week, and it turns out she had gastric bypass several years ago and lost 125 pounds. I had no idea, I thought she just naturally ate like a bird! We had a nice conversation.
  4. Sennokot, though it might take a few days to take effect. If you need something that will take effect immediately, you need a suppository.
  5. Three or four months, probably. I had a vodka and lemonade that was mostly vodka and it went straight to my head. Then we went on our babymoon two weekends ago and I had several alcoholic beverages, and it went fine. Had two beers (a porter) last weekend and that went fine too.
  6. Can’t remember if this was puréed or very soft foods, but a can of baby food meat and some applesauce.
  7. If I stayed at my current weight for the rest of my life, the surgery would be worth it.
  8. Coroner bellowed HOW MUCH WEIGHT HAVE YOU LOST at me the other day. Good move, doing that in front of the head of HR.
  9. Yes, that's the information that's available on the website, and that's the fine point I didn't feel like arguing with the surgeon's office.
  10. I was advised by my surgical team not to use the patches since they contain calcium carbonate and I need calcium citrate (the FAQs explain why they contain calcium carbonate, but I wasn’t going to press that issue). Since the real issue with the calcium citrate chewables and the Flintstones vitamins and the sublingual B12 tablet is the space they occupy in pill organizers and the fact that I’d need a giant pill organizer to hold all that, plus the fish oil capsule, plus the vitamin D pill, plus the one BP Med I’m still on, plus the Strattera pill, plus the 12 fiber capsules and 8 Sennokot pills I need to take to stay regular, I’m going to try the patches when I travel this weekend to see how I like them. We’ll see how that goes. If I go on them full time, I’ll tell the practice what I did and that I’ll go back to the pills if the patches aren’t doing the trick.
  11. No, I've never heard of it. I don't think there's a blanket ban on the sleeve if you have GERD, and omeprazole is safe if you've had the sleeve (they gave it to me the morning after my surgery, when I was still in the hospital). I highly recommend the sleeve over bypass and I'd find another surgeon if he won't let you have the sleeve.
  12. Mine has gotten better, but it's still there. I'm able to take generic omeprazole (before surgery, literally all that would work was Prilosec. Not generic Prilosec, not Nexium, nothing else) and it's more mild discomfort when I don't take it as opposed to sheer hell. Currently I'm about 40-50 pounds below where I was when I was first diagnosed with GERD.
  13. Can someone recommend one for calcium citrate? The Flintstones chewables and the sublingual B12 are fine, but the calcium citrate chewables are a giant pain in the ass. I'm sick of the taste and it's impossible to use my pill organizer with those taking up so much space.
  14. I told my boss I was having surgery because she needed to know why the dates when I expected to be able to work from home and when I expected to be able to return to the office were estimates, but I didn't tell her what kind of surgery it was.
  15. And FWIW, I don't see anything resembling a pregnancy belly bump!
  16. I didn't lose hair. It grows at a much shorter rate, and I think it's thinner than it used to be, but I didn't lose any. Actually, I did "lose" a massive square of belly hair that they shaved off for the surgery (which I didn't learn until afterwards).
  17. I’m like two notches away from needing a smaller Fitbit.
  18. On Saturday I went to put on a pair of shorts I’d bought in February because the shorts I owned then were too big, only to discover the new shorts are now too big. That was the first time I was annoyed that clothes were too big.
  19. Yesterday was the first time I went to the Original Pancake House and didn’t order pancakes! Then that night, I went to a book reading with my brother (not overweight) and my brother-in-law (overweight) and it was me on the left, my brother in the middle, and my brother-in-law on the right, and I thought I was encroaching on my brother’s space, but he was leaning over into me because my brother-in-law was encroaching on HIS space!
  20. Yesterday I was shopping at Kohl’s and my size is not, I repeat, not in the Big and Tall department.
  21. Today I was feeling for insect bites on my torso and I went “wait, that’s actually my hip bone.”
  22. My only regret was not having it sooner. I know that I had it done when I was ready to have it done, but I still wish I’d been ready sooner.
  23. Oh don’t worry, you can find those!
