  1. Read the post again. That's not what happened.
  2. I tried chicken breast again at lunch today and it went OK, not great, but I didn't puke it back up, either. Yesterday my dietitian said I could also do lunch meat, that seems simple enough.
  3. I agree, complications are rare and even on my worst days, the good outweighs the bad. I was really mad that I couldn't order my usual meal from Sonic last week, but happy that I fit comfortably in the seat at the theater I was at before that.
  4. I'm waiting to get cleared to start jogging again, because walking on a treadmill is godawful. Plus I've been doing just fine re weight loss without getting more than 4-5K steps per day.
  5. Oh, how I can't wait for the general diet. One short week from tomorrow! Between the pre-surgery shakes and the post-surgery shakes, I don't have much of a sweet tooth these days, and I get all the salt I need from string cheese.
  6. Thanks, you too! It looks like I'm down about 4 pounds since 7 days ago, which is frustrating when I was losing 4 pounds a day once upon a time. Oh well. It's nice to put on clothes and know that they'll only get looser on me from here!
  7. Last night I ate chicken that had been slow cooked in liquid and it came right back up. I may have eaten too much of it, though.
  8. I think it’s more “at minimum, 2-4 lbs a week.” I was not told I was losing too fast.
  9. It's not about the cut of meat so much as the cooking method. If you steam the chicken breast or slow-cook it in broth, you'll be fine.
  10. I'm only counting calories because they show up in MyFitnessPal anyway. The idea of "protein first" is that, if you're meeting your protein goals for the day, you shouldn't have room in your stomach for anything else. My surgeon said you never count calories at any stage post-surgery.
  11. The other half of the can of Hormel chili I heated up yesterday with a packet of oyster crackers. So far this is the only form of red meat I've tolerated well, btw.
  12. I (and others, I'm sure) was offered clear liquids on the day of surgery and the day after.
  13. 7 sips on an empty stomach, almost immediately on a full one.
  14. I feel like every week I can get down one more "gulp" at a time. Currently I'm up to 5.
  15. FYI for anyone who feels like they're not losing quickly enough: I saw the dietitian today for my one-month appt, and she said patients are expected to lose 2-4 pounds a week.
  16. I'm not doing well with red meat in any form, either ground or cubed (the steak at Chipotle), with the exception of canned Hormel chili. Chicken and turkey have gone well. As a point of reference, last week I got a burrito bowl from Chipotle with steak, beans, cheese, and pico, and I ate a quarter of it and felt terrible, and yesterday I got a burrito bowl from Chipotle with chicken, beans, and cheese, and ate about 3/4 of it.
  17. Greek yogurt, peanut butter on toast, oatmeal.
  18. Aldi has a line of low-fat cream soups, I think Campbell does too. Low-fat means easier on a healing tummy. Unfortunately your choices are cream of chicken, cream of potato, and cream of mushroom. Don’t forget to strain first!
  19. Yay, but watch for how tomatoes affect you. They’re not good for GERD.
  20. I’ve seen better results taking in 1000 calories a day than 800, personally.
  21. The more calories you can take in, the more weight you will lose. So yes, you are lucky.
  22. Spices haven’t bothered me, other than not being able to take a sip of water afterwards, but I went to Chipotle last weekend and got a burrito bowl that was just steak and cheese and pico and that did NOT agree with me. I re-read my binder and it said I can’t eat raw vegetables for another week and a half, oops.
  23. I would think that Indian food with meat would be ok since it’s a wet cooking method.
  24. Their fault for not measuring you, I get measured every time I go to the surgeon, even at post-op appointments.
