Recommendations for low-fat creamy soups

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. 5 day post-op and feeling better. I’m on the full liquid stage and I keep hearing I can have low-fat creamy Soups. However, I’ve been looking and can’t seem to find any. And also not sure if I should be worrying about number of calories, or fat, or just what has the most Protein. Any recommendations on possible recipes or ideas of what everyone has had would be great! Really trying to venture out a little bit - all I’ve beben having has been Water, a little bit of Protein Drinks, and popsicles. Haven’t really wanted anything else. But I do think I need to up my calories a little bit.

Thank you all! I love reading everyone’s comments and successes!!!

Don’t be concerned with low-fat at this point. After you move to regular food then watch what you eat. But in the early stages you’ll be deprived of needed fat & calories anyway. Enjoy your soups!

Aldi has a line of low-fat cream Soups, I think Campbell does too. Low-fat means easier on a healing tummy. Unfortunately your choices are cream of chicken, cream of potato, and cream of mushroom. Don’t forget to strain first!

I used the Progresso Light Soups. If you do the new england clam chowder, strain before and after (the little bits of clams were nasty) watch sugar more than fat. Even if natural sugar. The Tomato basil (my favorite) gave me dumping syndrome. Some may not have the symtoms! Gl

Thank you! This whole ting is daunting. It’s hard to get rid of old habits of being obsessed with counting fat and calories and just focusing on eating at all. Thank you for the advice!

Thank you! Was just at ALDI the other day and forgot to look. Will be going back today.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
