Drinking water without issue

Hi! I’m now 5 Days post op, and I am no longer having discomfort when drinking fluids. I can easily drink 14oz in 30 minutes — is this something I should be concerned about? Everyone told me it would be so hard to drink, but honestly true fluids really aren’t bothering me. My protein shake sits a bit heavier in my stomach and I do feel restriction when drinking that, pain even if I take too large of a drink but plain water or broth that doesn’t happen! I’m so worried I have ruined my new tummy or something since I can drink so easily

  • You probably just aren't too swollen so it goes right through. Once healed up you can drink like that if you take frequent small sips. The restriction really comes into play with soft foods and solid

  • You guys are doing great! I was 2 weeks out before I could get anywhere near 2L!

Not everyone will have trouble drinking. I didn't. Surgeon still recommended I don't drink fast because it trains your new stomach to empty too quickly. Go at the recommended pace and you'll do great

I had surgery on the 18th & I’m finding it easy to drink water to. I had already drank 2 L today and it was just past noon.

I’m so glad to hear this!!! I am young, my mom thinks that’s definirely part of it! She is post op as well and isn’t having the ease I am!

I feel like every week I can get down one more "gulp" at a time. Currently I'm up to 5.

At what point do you feel restricted? I have yet to feel restricted when drinking water. It’s been very smooth so far.

7 sips on an empty stomach, almost immediately on a full one.

I feel my restriction only with meat. I understand why everyone says to eat protein first!

I have no problems with fluids or crackers.

The 18th of January? That’s awesome
