Protein
well no... but I can't imagine any reason why you couldn't. I've heard of people mixing it up with some water and taking a protein "shot".

The Difference between Optifast/Optislim
I don't know that there is enough of a difference to worry about it. Both are for very low calorie dieting before surgery. My surgeon had me on Optifast. A lot of surgeons dont mandate a specific shake anyway. Roasting veggies are my favorite way to eat them. I spray a light oil and season them with Season All and throw them in the oven at 400 deg F until they start to char slightly.

Worried I'm going about this all wrong - help?
I think it's great that you're preparing ahead of time! There are other media types where you can find information as well like YouTube and Podcasts. I watched a lot of Dr Matthew Weiner videos on YouTube and enjoyed them quite a bit. He also has a book called A Pound of Cure which I haven't read. I'm just now looking at Podcasts to listen to so I can't recommend any. If you are looking for meal ideas on the different post op eating phases Pinterest would be a great place to look. Good luck on your journey!

Iron vitamins
You may need to talk to your doctor about IV iron infusions. I take the Bariatric Pal One with 45mg of iron. It does cause nausea if I eat it on an empty stomach but if I take it with a small snack right before bed it doesn't bother me.

gum chewing after vertical sleeve surgery
My understanding is because if it is swallowed because it isn't digested in the stomach and the narrowing of the opening between the sleeve and intestines is so narrow that it could get stuck and cause problems.

How to stop losing and maintain
Thank you, and I'm sorry - I certainly don't mean to offend you or anyone else. I forget that I'm a bit of an outlier myself on the other end of the spectrum (having lost nearly 94% of my excessive body weight) and that others have had to work harder than I've had to to lose their weight.

When did your weight loss slow down?
I was losing 10 pounds a month pretty steady until about 8 months out. Now I'm still losing but at a much slower rate.

Just venting because this ish is HARD!!!
The first couple months are really tough! There is a lot of immediate post op regret "why did I do this" but IT DOES GET BETTER. The ease of eating will come. The progression to real food will come. Control of your hunger will come. We've been through it and we're here for you. You'll get through this!

1 year post-op starting to gain weight
Be sure to use an app to track to track your food intake. These numbers that you list aren't adding up. 65 carbs and lets say 100 protein with zero fat and zero sugar just doesn't add up to 1200 to 1500 calories. So its important that you are tracking your calories and those macros.

How to stop losing and maintain
This baffles me, how do you keep it so low? Are you doing Keto?

How to stop losing and maintain
My husband and I have been discussing the same thing. I'm at a 22 BMI right now and have approximately 15 pounds yet to lose before worrying that I am underweight. But my husband considers me underweight already and wants me to stop losing. But I'm not sure how to make it stop. Doesn't the weight come off during the honeymoon phase no matter what we eat? Thats how people get into the trap of "I lost all this weight after surgery eating XYZ so I must be doing something right" Right now I don't always track my food but when I do I end up around 1000-1100 calories. I'm perfectly happy to sit and wait for the 10-15 pound bounce back. That will put me right back at my goal weight.

weird question
I’m surprised maintaining the lie to your best friend took a priority over the protecting your sleeve and preventing what could be a very serious complication. Return to your diet, watch out for future complications and consider opening up and being honest with your bestie. I get that you don’t want to make her uncomfortable with her own weight but how do you think she’s going to feel when you mysteriously lose all yours?

Did your surgeon want you to lose weight before you got surgery
I was required to lose 5% but can’t remember if it was an insurance requirement or the surgeon’s program.

What to do about the GAS!?
I was struggling with this too and trying beano with no results. Someone suggested it was lactose intolerance and I picked up some Lactaid. That was the culprit. Worth a try!

eating after one week of Gastric sleeve
You're asking HOW you could eat a croissant but the real question is WHY you ate the croissant. You should consider going to a therapist to figure out why you are self sabotaging so soon after your procedure.

Not telling anyone
I didn't announce it on Facebook. Simply because I don't feel the need to announce everything going on in my life on social media. But anyone that asks what I did to lose the weight gets an honest, unashamed answer. The stigma behind weight loss surgery isn't going to go away anytime soon if we continue to hide it.

Scared but my new beginning!
I did that too in preparation for my surgery. Reading people's questions and experiences will not only give you an idea of what to expect -- like the dreaded 3 week stall -- but it will also inspire and encourage you! I love reading people's weight loss bucket lists and non scale victories.

Packing is so much easier!
That's awesome! Plus more room for souvenirs!

Mammogram Required?
The only reason I can think of as a possibility is if you did find you had breast cancer and needed chemotherapy. When people lose weight during cancer treatment, it is most often due to an inability to maintain good nutrition. Chemotherapy can sometimes cause nausea and a general loss of appetite, while vomiting and diarrhea can greatly impact your ability to retain nutrients from the foods you eat.

What's In Your Hospital Bag?
Guess it depends on how long you anticipate your stay being. Some people are outpatient and leave the same day, others like me stay 2 nights. I took my own toothbrush and toothpaste, chapstick, hairbrush and deodorant. I wore the same comfy outfit I wore into the hospital with the exception of fresh underwear. Some people recommend bringing your own socks to walk in but hospital floors are gross - surgeons and other staff walk right out of the operating rooms up to the nursing floors to round on their patients. I wore the ones they gave me and threw them away when I left.

No weight loss
What I really don't get is under your username it says you're a Senior Member. Which means you've spent quite some time on the forums. Have you really not run across multiple multiple posts just like this??

No weight loss
This is literally the 3rd "I haven't lost enough weight in X weeks out of surgery" and you're the 3rd one that looks like they are doing FINE. My starting weight on surgery day was 202 on Aug 6. My weight on Oct 3 was 178. At 2 months out I (only) lost 24 pounds. You ARE losing weight. You aren't doing anything wrong or even need to change anything that you're doing except maybe limit getting on the scale to once a week and lower your expectations. Stalls are a normal part of the process. You need to be patient and trust the process.

Depressed
I was 202 on my surgery date. I sure as hell didn't lose 30 pounds in 30 days. I lost 14 pounds and was damn happy about it.
-
Depressed
This cannot be said enough. I don't know why so many expect to drop all their weight in the first month postop.

Zucchini Ricotta Cheese bake
I've definitely not been posting pics. Of course I'll do anything to get out of cooking dinner most days.
